When i see a pic of American pancakes they are always so thick! Don't know if that's the same in the UK ( i never eat them, so especially not on holiday ) but that does not look tasty to me.

Yeah our pancakes are more like crepes in the UK. The fat ones look more like what is known as Scotch pancakes over here :?

in north america pancakes are light and fluffy and much thicker than crepes.
crepes are thin and more dense.

This is what we call a pancake. And for our standards, even these are thick.

both the thin and thick pancakes are good

the thick ones are good because you can put stuff like blueberries and chocolate chips in the batter before cooking them and because they are kinda like a sponge the absorb all that tasty maple syrup.

i find the thin ones better with fruit and whipped cream. like banana slices or berries and maple syrup goes good with these too.

I wrote a story in which the main character has blueberry pancakes with nacho cheese sauce. Don't know if anyone actually eats them this way (I sure don't!), but it was fun to imagine.
