Is the Mystery Box rigged or am I just unlucky?

Well, technically the Van is a premium item - worth 40 donuts. That said, you really only need one and probably don't want any more. I'm surprised you haven't found any Lard Lads since it seems fairly common for people to get multiples of that. Sorry for your bad luck. Kind of sounds like a glitch at this point. You could try calling EA on it, but they'll probably just try to tell you it's random.

    Box 19 - Channel 6 News Van

Ugh no more. All I wanted was another Lard Land or the equivalent of donuts for the items I already have which according to Simpsons Wiki was a 52% chance of receiving. It seems like it was a quickfire way for EA to offload certain premiums without making it completely fair for those that already have those available. Oh well I'm not wasting any more. So for anyone else considering doing what I've just done, save your donuts :)

Did you buy the Tire Fire or the Blue Haired Lawyer? If not, you definitely should've won them by now...

If you had all the premium things already what were you expecting to find? Seems like you are getting what's left. If you don't like those why to you keep buying more? Seems crazy to me.

I bought them both when they were first released. Was hoping to perhaps get the equivalent in donuts for them. Decided to round it off with an even 20 of Mystery Boxes. No prizes for what was in the box :P

Because I had read this on Simpsons Wiki:
(If the you have a unique item and it's chosen in the box, you'll get the amount of donuts it costs)

Seen as though everyone else was getting great success with the boxes I thought I was due a bit of luck. Naive I know now.

My understanding is this happens ONLY if it's a premium you can have ONE of
squeaky teen=donuts if you have him, Cuz you can only have one. Lard lads, new van and others= multiples of item
PM me- I DO need Good Neighboreenos currently

As much as I have figured out:
you'll always have three cheap items in a row, then two or three good (donuts or premium) items. This never changes, at least for me. I have a couple of feeder towns with some free given donuts saved ant tested it. All of them got both lawyer and Kearney, then it went like this:

    For example
_onda, pond, kebab thing.... Antenna, billboard, tyre fire
    then
shelter, pond, kebab thing... antenna, lard lad, ten donuts
    then
_onda, pond, kebab thing ... antenna, billboard, thirty donuts (so far so good)
    then
    3 cheap items, antenna, billboard,
3 cheap items, antenna, billboard, lard lad.

Now it's getting worse, because the number of donuts decreasing and I know that 3 cheap items are coming.
    so they are:
3 cheap items, antenna, billboard... and I am out of donuts.

It went similar to this in my other town where I had 90 donuts saved, I spent them all now.
It was always 3 cheap items in a row, so in my main town I stopped buying after getting the lawyer and a first
Lard Lad. I had had Kearney and SVT.
Hope someone can confirm this and also I hope this helps.

That's what I was aiming for. The so-called chance of finding SVT, Kearney, or Blue Haired Lawyer again but instead getting their value in donuts. Since the new Mystery Box came out almost everyone has been able to unlock these characters seemingly quite easy. I bought them all ages and ages ago so thought if everyone was having such easy luck finding them then I should have the same luck in finding more donuts. That doesn't seem to be true and it does look to in fact be rigged in such a way. Just a word of warning to anyone who like me tries to persist with obtaining donuts after the characters are unlocked to not bother anymore.

    To the OP:

I read the same thing, that we would get the equivalent of whatever unique item we already had. I'm 99.99% certain now that this was either an error, or a feature that wasn't implemented. I've read through many posts on here, and have yet to see anyone post that they received 40 donuts (tire fire), 60 (Kearny) or 90 (BHL).

I'm in the same boat as you, I already owned Squeaky Voiced Teen, Blue-Haired Lawyer, Kearny and the Tire Fire. Bought them just before the Super-Hero event, sadly :P

That being said, I do have a number of feeder towns, and a HUGE majority of them received Channel 6 News Vans for their first free Mystery Box. So maybe there's something to this, and somehow the News Van has gotten set to a higher probability for certain people. I don't know how likely that is, but it does seem odd that you would get 11 News Vans out of 19 attempts.

    To drumkvadrat:

I think your pattern is probably correct. I've only opened 7 (first free, weekly free, and 5 purchased) since this started, but it followed the same pattern.

    Lard-Lad Donuts
    Itchy and Scratchy Billboard
    30 Donuts
    Chalmers ONDA
    Minnow Pond
    KK stand
    Channel 6 News Van

OK. When I got the first "new" Mystery Box, I already had SVT, Lard Lad, many Khlav Khlash carts, a Minnow Pond and Bomb Shelter and the News Van. In my first box, I got the BHL.

Next boxes: three bought, one free:

    Bomb Shelter
    Chalmers' _ONDA
News Van (which has a multiplier)
    Khlav Khlash cart
    Tire Fire

For the time being, I'm stopping there.

You're mistaken if you believe that you will get the value in donuts of a unique prize. No one has reported getting 40 donuts if they already had the Tire Fire, or 90 donuts if they had the BHL.

That said, you probably should have gotten 30 donuts or 10 donuts at least once, or another Lard Lad. :?

I have never purchased donuts. All the donuts I have ever received are from leveling up or special events. I have always spent my donuts on the mystery boxes or golden buddha and virtually all my prizes were awful.

However, since they changed the boxes recently, my luck has been much better. The daily login box gave me 30 donuts. My first 30 donuts win, and then I spent 6 of them on another box to which I won Kearney (worth 60 donuts).

So from logging in 5 days in a row, I have essentially won 30 + 60 - 6 = 84 donuts worth. Not bad. Normally I would have probably won a green bin, or a white fence.

    UPDATE:

    After posting this, I fancied my luck and went for another three lucky boxes. I won the following;

    Minnow Pond :(
Itchy and Scratchy Billboard (worth 40 donuts) :)
Blue Haired Lawyer (worth 90 donuts)!! :D

    So.. carrying on. 84 donuts - 18 = 66 donuts.
    66 donuts + 40 + 90 = 196 donuts worth from that single box for logging in 5 days in a row.

Very happy with the new system. :D Though saying that, now I have a few of the premium items my luck is bound to change.
