 but i checked and they played recently..so it would be unfair to delete them
do they just not know about the update yet? this was the case with a friend of mine, she plays every day but didn't update until i told her there was an event :x

why doesn't EA force the update onto all players

Even if you check origin and they played less than an hour ago that does not mean they played TSTO. It only means they logged on. :)

I was just wondering if they forced the update yet. I'm still getting handshakes so I know they must be quite a few people that started late.

I only have 4 out of 100 neighbors who look like they gave up since last event, and those 4 barely got into the last one. So, it's back to trolling the add me thread for a few replacements

You could try doing what I did: spell out UPDATE in your landing zone with bushes.

Of course, some of my neighbors still haven't updated...

I still have a few who left handshakes in my SF today. So they are active and must have at least started the upgrade. I normally can't even visit neighbors when they have upgraded and I haven't.

I've done the update and allowed to tap the rabid corns in other people's towns. However, when I get on to check my town, I'm still seeing handshakes. Are people not allowed to tap my corns? If not, why not? Just a bit confused as to why this is happening.

I'm figuring on waiting out the weekend
I should stop getting handshakes from people who have updated at that point I think............

Will probably cull the herd for unupdated inactives at that point I figure...

I have about 10-15, fairly long time friends, who havn't updated. :( If they don't update soon, at least by mid-week, I'll assume they won't and I'll recycle them.

I know that sounds harsh, but events are where we all strive to help each other out. Their inactivity, refusal to upgrade, or whatever is causing me (and others) to fall short on goals.

I diligently visit friends whether there is an event or not. I admit I sometimes have to push visits back to get them to a more manageable time slot, but I visit all 100, none-the-less.

None of my slackers are forum members, nor have I ever seen them post to the forum. If they won't play, I have no qualms about recycling them.

Considering the very small amount of seeds we receive overall I don't see a reason to delete anyone.
This event isn't set up with a strong focus on helping others out. We get a bag of 50 seeds but other than that I'm getting maybe three or four seeds from tapping plants per day (and I play an embarrassing amount).
So when I get only a few mutants here and there sent to my town I completely understand and don't hold it against anyone.

Not to argue with your decision! But do you know that as long as you have 30 neighbors who have updated, the others have no effect on falling short of your goals? You only get event currency from the first 90 actions ... And you'll still get free donuts from the ones who haven't updated.

Though non-updated neighbors won't be dropping you seedlings, so there's a loss there I suppose. But judging from the fact that -- except the prize of 50 seedlings --- I've earned only 11 so far. In four days of rounds to 81 neighbors ... I'm sure not helping anyone reach their goals there. ;)

Came across something strange with a neighbor who I am assuming has not updated.
They have a count of 0 trowels and 0 seeds. They haven't had anything to really tap on in about a month. They don't have mutant corn to tap and there is not an option for me to drop mutant seeds in their SF but they had at least two of the mutant seeds running around in their town. Just thought it was odd.

About the handshakes, i thought there were a few quest you needed to complete before you could get friendcurrency. So even though they updated, they May not be that far yet.

Players may have updated but can't yet tap peoples corn, so they still have to tap houses. 8)
Go through your friend list and unfriend any non tappers and get new friends, though in all honesty I don't think it's worth having more than 30 as you only get so many spades from friends.

    this is true

I get a handful of seeds per day...and see maybe 2 in my town per day left by friends :?

even if I replaced 30% of my friends it would only make a difference of getting 1 extra seed per day :?

As long as it took me to get to the part of the event where you can visit neighbors for event currency, I'm giving my neighbors a chance to catch up too. This event is a slow start and I'll probably give them until next Saturday before I consider replacing the few that don't have the Walking Corn yet.

The Walking Corn - that should be the name of this event, not the terwilligers

I have quite a few neighbours who still leave handshakes too.
I've only got a couple of seeds left bt neigh ours too..hopefully will get better further into the event.

I am confysed about the mutant corn though....should i be leaving it untapped in my town for neighbours? Ive been leaving buildings untapped...is that pointless in this event?
Really wish i understood this event better:/

They probably started the update but haven't reached part of the quest that allows them to plant seeds in neighbors towns. Once they reach that part of the quest, only then can they tap your mutant corn plants.

You can tap all the corn and buildings in your own town. New corn is generated for your neighbours to tap.

I have a few "weekend players" that are just starting the event that I'm getting handshakes from.

You know, that would be a flipping awesome THOH event. The mutant corn, through continued genetic manipulation, develops a taste for humans...particularly their brainssss...
