Ok, how do get the video to show?

Oh, and this is also not for the easily offended.

Currently it is Death Cab for Cutie.

Thank God at least one other person that enjoys indie music. I have every album on iTunes, thanks to torrents. My two favorites are The New Year and Champaigne from a Paper Cup. The newer more polished one, actually the older one is good too. (I like their older stuff and most of their newer stuff). Did you read my list? Do you like that kinda stuff or Sunny Day Real Estate, Iron & Wine, The Decemberists, etc...?

From your list: Modest Mouse, Vampire Weekend, mewithoutYou, The Killers- all of these are on my ipod and I love them. :)
For Death Cab, the ones on my playlist right now are Marching Bands of Manhatten, Crooked Teeth, Tiny Vessels, Photobooth, and Bixby Canyon Bridge.

I second the praise for "indie music" (although it seems a bit ingenuous calling it that considering most of these bands are on labels) but I'm into a lt of those bands you mentioned. Brights Eyes/Conor Oberst is awesome, brings me back to a certain time in my life along with Elliot Smith, The Postal Service and Nick Drake.

These days I've been listening to a lot of The Beta Band, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and Justice.

I like music to dance to, to chill out to, and I'm into Motown (my husband is a big fan). My top 3 fav bands (if I had to pick) would be Sigur Ros, The Books, and The Beatles.

Also: I second that Das Racist is hilarious.

Anyone else on here collect vinyl?

I saw both those bands live this summer at Osheaga. Was awesome!

Vinyl? I've got my Rega turntable spinning all the time. If it's worth buying it's worth buying on vinyl. Otherwise just Slacker it.

Last time there was a music thread and I posted indie and indie rock, I got flamed and my music was mis-labeled "emo". That's why I was happily surprised at a positive response to indie music.

    That is SO cool. :)

I remember that episode of the simpsons when the band was playing and the MC said, "who likes the Doobie Brothers. . . .'cause we got one of them" lol, too funny.

That's a good list. Btw Bjork's newer stuff has been blowing my mind.

"What Sarah Said" is one of my favorite songs. I love the song, and Sarah is the "name" of one of my guitars....ohhh....lost love...maybe I should have named it something less depressing...

I didn't realize some of those bands were indie...I remember a time when indie=crappy and unpopular. It's good to see there are some bands smart enough to do it on their own.

Pink Floyd, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones.

If I had to go to a deserted island and for the rest of my life I could only listen to one band then it would be between Zep and Floyd but Floyd would have to win out because they have more material. Guess I could always hum Stairway if I had to. ;)

I just picked up her first four proper releases (among some 50 other albums) last week and I've been listening to hers constantly. I used to subscribe to the "Bjork is weird, but I've never listened to her" bandwagon. What a shame! This is beautiful music!

I'll have to check her newer albums out as soon as I'm done sifting through all of this new music.

Cool, xrobot! I grew up in the Santa Cruz mountains, and the Doobie brothers certainly made a name for themselves there! :)

Great list, Kennedy. I love Chris Isaac.

    Randy Newman
    Tom Petty
    Tracy Chapman
    Sarah Mclachlan
    Nirvana
    Ray Charles
    Bob Dylan
