This will be my third Halloween. This is also my favorite of the events.
I am busy with:
- Hoping this event is NOT based on Island of Dr Hibbert
- Sending people on tasks constantly to build up money (might start buying land during the event if I don't like my already available land)
- Somebody mentioned above and I'm going to steal their idea of unleashing the zombies and caging the Christmas NPCs. Except the Christmas Raccoon. He can stay.

Just wondering, why?
It was one of the last episodes I watched before I stopped watching the Simpsons. I liked the first story in that episode, the clone one. I didn't think the other two stories were that great. Island of Dr Hibbert referenced the Island of Dr Moreau but didn't really do anything beyond a bestiality joke. I realize it didn't have a lot of time, but something closer following the original story would have made it more interesting to me.
First timer here, looking forward to new items. Have bought donuts, cleared some space and am currently building up some $$ in my main town, using the time in my B town to grind a bit on SH.
Buy treats for the trick or treaters, put up Halloween decorations, make a jack-o-lantern, and get Halloween costumes.
My husband's students know where we live. He wants me to get him one of these to put on the front lawn on Halloween. A motion-sensor sprinkler. Designed to repel deer from gardens (we have neither vegetation nor wildlife on our property, but he figures that once-a-year, it would make his dreams come true).
This is my first Halloween. As far as getting ready. Like others, I'm saving up money, which for me means holding off on purchasing the Danger Pool. I've bought a couple more block of of land and I've been working on packing the building into SH to free up a couple of big sections for land for potential large decorations. I have a big enough bank to purchase a few more blocks of land if necessary.
Right now, most of the "main" characters are busy on SH crafting which can be stopped almost instantly as needed for Halloween tasks. Come Tuesday morning most of those characters will transition over to Monorail tasks. I have a few characters still finishing up Beer Stein Wiggum and Desmond tasks. Hopefully the cash of characters is enough different that I can still work through Monorail tasks enough to get the weekly doughnuts. I'm a mostly Freemium player and 5 doughnuts a week help. Over the next couple of days I ought to try and fill up the SH jobs (I can spend them later) so the jobs don't show up.

================
Growing up in a small town where my Dad taught, we got pranked many times. Man, he would have loved this!!!!! My Mom did give out full size candy bars. I always think now, that maybe it was some sort of peace offering!
First of all, I'm glad you posted this topic Barry! It's always helpful to hear about what people plan to do to prepare! And it amps up the anticipation for Halloween for me! I can't wait to see what you do with your town this year
Let's see...
This is my second Halloween (I started playing just after Halloween 2013 ended).
As for preparation - a lot of people have already covered what I plan on doing:
-I have my donuts ready and waiting (Barry's right - it's good to stock up before hand in the hopes of avoiding donut purchase issues during the event)
-grinding away at SH in the hopes of getting completed/mostly completed. I don't want to have to worry about it during Halloween. And I'd like to design it after Halloween (inbetween Halloween and Christmas events). I had been taking it slow with SH, but now I just want it done!
-I plan to put my pumpkins and Spooky Trees out some time today or tomorrow
-I need to clear up a space for this Halloween's event items... Probably will be putting more things in my "still thinking about what I'm going to do with this" area
-reset my neighbour visit time - will likely do my visits tonight but not tomorrow - I do this every so often anyway because my visit time wanders from day to day and I'd like to set it as close to a time when I feel that most of my neighbours are awake in case we have mechanism for visits that resets after a certain period of time (I hope that they don't do that this year. Also hoping we don't need to spend donuts to help our neighbours in a significant way... I don't like it when an event is structured with those aspects - it's a personal preference)
Looking forward to seeing what we get this year, though! I have some really creative neighbours and I can't wait to see what they do with their designs this year!
EDIT: holy kadoodle that turned out to be longer than I thought it was!
I have put out my pumpkins from last year (was v low level last year, so don't have many!), put out Kang and some scarier looking stashed NPCs, built some new houses for trick or treating, and put out a few campfires (in hopeful anticipation of needing them). Super excited
Just waiting for the update so I can be happy again.
Then I'll come hear and read all the complaints about how it's not the event they wanted, how they could have done better, what's wrong with the event, I wish..., to little...., to much...., I'm confused..., where's the .....I don't see it, how do I start the event nothing's happening..... Ect...... And then I can get a good laugh.
This is going to be my first halloween event. Can you guys explain about what we have to do and give me some tips to prepare for it? I'm on level 51.
We won't be really knowledgable on what will be helpful until it drops but here are some helpful hints:
1) Character Tasks - we don't know when it will start; but most guesses are midday Tuesday the 6th. One major thing is to make sure your people aren't in the middle of super long tasks so you can jump into the Halloween event right away.
2) Land Setup - we're likely to get a number of Halloween items and buildings. Most people like to set up a Halloween area, or a launch area if that's how the friend visits will work - it depends on the event. You might want to start moving stuff in advance so you're ready.
3)Friend Visits - Hold off on friend visits to make sure you can get event currency right away and maximize what you'll have to do for the prizes.
4) Clean Up Friend List - Going along with this and maybe more important: depending on the event you may have to eliminate your inactive friends and make new ones.
5) Keep and eye on the forums. There are some great guys here who will provide some great information and assistance on the event!
I have a set Halloween n spooky area so just moving things around to make space and saving cash in case I need to buy more land rapidly, also trying to get money mountain done as keep forgetting about Burns working on it
I set two goals: finish off the IRS upgrades, and get my town orderly.
Just finished the IRS upgrades this afternoon. It's in storage, but if we don't need to leave houses for neighbors to tap during the event, I'll take it out.
Unless the event begins in a month or so, I'll not be done with the redesigning.
Uggg my 15 day vacation starts the 14th of this month and ends on the 29 th. I will be in a remote area without a Internet or mobile phone connection for 10 of those days. I will probably have to use donuts to catch up lol.
