from what i can tell each level of campfire requires a different story to get snakes, skeletons, bunnies etc. When i have a certain story being told that is the only thing i see randomly spawning in my town. I think it works the same way when i visit my neighbors.
No, you're neighbors are spawning whatever character is telling a story in their town. When I visit, I look to see who's story telling if it's not the right character to get the resource that I need I move on. Tapping on the resource does nothing for you neighbor, so hand pick what you need to upgrade your campfire. The only thing that benefits your neighbor is dropping formless terrors in their town.
Oh, geeez.....I didnt realise this, I should read these threads more thoroughly.
So we need to search our neighbours towns for the storyteller wiht the spawn we need. Well, at least I can do it right now
You don't need to; it is just an efficient way to upgrade your campfire. However it is a very inefficient way to visit friends. Too bad the friend screen does not indicate which that friend is currently generating before going into the town.
Ugh, why didn't i think of this? My currency runs out LONG before my friends, and i have more than enough friends to check whose story telling thus working for me?! Annoyed i didn't think of this lol!
I could be wrong, but from what I understand the formless terrors (purple blobs dropped by neighbours) seem to benefit both your neighbour and you when tapped as soon as possible - I believe there is a time limit on the length. Sometimes a screen appears showing whether your neighbours have helped you and what resources you gained. If it says that no neighbour has helped you then it seems there is a very low payout - that is why I believe this to be true. Can someone confirm this?
this is what I'm trying to figure out as well. Is it better to drop them at night so your neighbor doesn't catch them as fast, or drop them in the day so your neighbor has a better chance of tapping them early.
I got that same screen last night after work, that no neighbors had helped me and the payout was very low. The only problem is I have no idea how many were left from what I dropped. When I did my friends later on and returned to my town I got the window showing the friends who had already tapped the terrors I dropped and a payout that was far larger. I got the same window this morning, showing a list of friends who had helped me and a fairly substantial payout. So maybe tapping them this time is better than not.
1. How fast Zombies/Snakes spawn at each level of the campfire?
I got 15 minutes at level 1 and 2. It's looking like 14 minutes at level 3. I'm just glancing at the clock, so my readings haven't been very accurate. Let's do some math...
1 payout every 15 minutes is 900 seconds.
Level 1 reduces time by 5%, which is 45 seconds, so that's 14 minutes 15 seconds.
Level 2 reduces by another 5%, so that's 1 minute 30 seconds off for a time of 13 and a half minutes.
Level 3 should subtract another 45 seconds for a time of 12 minutes & 15 seconds.
Level 4 would take us down to 11 minutes 30 seconds.
Level 5: 10 minutes 45 seconds
Level 6: 10 minutes.
At level four measured with a stopwatch, it is near enough 12 minutes and 50 seconds per spawn.
That is a rate of 4.68 per hour. This is the number we must use when calculating any further rate increases.
Level five rate is 4.68 x 1.05, level six = 4.68 x (1.05)^2 and so on. Level six gives one every 11 min 38 secs.
By level ten they should be spawning at about 6.27 per hour, which is about one every 9 mins 35 seconds. By level 15 it is one every 8 minutes.
This is not the same calculation as Wadebear's above.
Didn't see this mentioned yet but when collecting nightmares in your town just however around one place and they will migrate to you as you collect them. This can be your campfire but it doesn't need to be.
If you have a main stretch of road I would suggest hovering there as the formless terrors seem to mostly stick to area around ur road. (I have two roads one medium/small loop and I small line. So far all my formless terrors have been on or in the area surrounding my loop of road.
So to sum up kill two birds with one stone by hovering over your main bit of road to have nightmares come to you and to tap formless terrors.
One other weird thing I've noticed is every now and then like 1/20 skeletons I tap gives me a snake egg instead of bones.
At this point in the event, I'm assuming the primary goal is to upgrade the level of the campfire and not to craft? I've crafted a couple of items I wanted because I had the resources for them. But, as soon as I level up I've been having the next person tell the stories instead of working towards a particular prize. I'm assuming working toward a particular prize for the most part is an end of the event task. The one exception for new players could be Hugo since he's a kid and can make S'mores for the rest of the challenge. But, I'm figuring event that will wait until I get close.

That's what I'm doing because a larger campfire will generate more of the resources and with the blobs I'm still getting other crafting materials other than what the fire wants to upgrade.

This is my strategy the faster you upgrade your campfire, means the more time you have with a greater spawn rate, which means more nightmares overall which means more craftables in the end. Doing is this way I already have enough to cover one of everything and I forsee no issues with getting multiples.
Hi, does anybody know how it works with the costumes? I guess if I won't buy Lisa Saxophone Costume, i won't be able to send her to the campfire after the event. Is that correct,or will she have a permanent task like with last Christmas as an Angel or Bart as Baby Jesus?
As a person who is selecting "neighbour visits" according to whatever nightmares I need (to upgrade the Spooky Campfire), I get andry at the time I spend in friends towns looking for nightmares... Especially when I find the nightmares and they are not what I'm looking for.
So I developed a system where I tell my neighbours what nightmares are spawning from my Spooky Campfire, as shown in the below image.
Whatever nightmare I am spwaning is not signalled with Stop signals... so when it changes, I just move the stop signals
Disco stu statue - Disco Zombies
Tube Slide - Snakes (I wasnt around in whacking day event)
Rabbit shrub - Rabbits
Skeleton tree - Skeletons
And dont know about you guys, but I would really apreciate that my neighbours did something like this
Just so that I've got this right in my head, it looks like I need zombies to upgrade my campfire to the next level which means that I have Martin telling spooky stories. At the moment I can send Martin or Lisa to get Zombies & snakes, how to I get the rabbits & skeletons?
Should I just be upgrading the campfire? Looking at the crafting most of it it's stuff I've got from previous events.

As you progress it will tell you. The other 2 are Milhouse and Bart.

Omg that is such a good tip! I was swiping all over towns without looking at the character telling stories, Thank you!
Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere on the forum but what is the top level for the campfire? I'm currently at 25 and I can go up to 30 at the moment but I'm wondering if theres more levels?
I saw someone ask this on the previous page but don't think anyone has answered so I'll ask this again as I really want to do.. Is it better to send those purple monsters late at night so your neighbours don't get them or during peak times so they do? I'm not sure what is most beneficial
I didn't figure this out myself, but someone else did and I'll share it because it appears to be correct...it is working for me.
Who spawns what?
Martin - zombies
Lisa - snakes
Milhouse - bunnies
Bart - skeletons
Campfire Level 1 requires 200 zombies to level up to 2. So you need to set Martin as storyteller and send all the other kids to make s'mores. You will get s'mores and zombies for their efforts. You can also get zombies by tapping on zombies in neighbor towns. But if you need zombies, tapping on snakes does not help you, because they don't "roll-over" to when you DO need snakes to level up the campfire. They show up in your totals it seems, but they don't help with leveling up. So when you get your 200 zombies and level up to campfire level 2, you switch the storyteller to LISA, who will direct the kids you start making s'mores to generate snakes. Note, that if you still have kids making smores when you level up, those kids will continue to make zombies because they are already "in motion". Someone suggested storing the story teller to release the kids, but I have no idea if that works. Of course, you can't store Lisa.
Anyway, the level cycles through all the nightmares. Level 1 requires zombies to get to Level 2. Level 2 requires snakes to get to Level 3. Level 3 requires bunnies (Milhouse) to get to Level 4. And Level 4 requires skeletons (Bart) to get to Level 5 Then it starts again with Martin storytelling to get zombies, etc.
I hope I didn't confuse anyone, or mis-state the facts. This is what I've been doing, until someone smarter than me says something different. And please, correct me if I've got it all wrong.
Dont know if this has been pisted but in busy neighbours towns filled with roads, I find that tapping on the road and waiting for a few seconds without moving seems to bring the nightmares to me! I popped out for a drink of water earlier and when I got back sbakes were swarming round my tapped area.
also, unlike other events where "tappables" seemed to stick to roads, the nightmares in this event do not seem quite so stuck in their routes!
I didn't figure this out myself, but someone else did and I'll share it because it appears to be correct...it is working for me.

Correct.
Also when visit neighbors:
Who spawns what?
Martin - zombies
Lisa - snakes
Milhouse - bunnies
Bart - skeletons
The character you send to tell stories will change BOTH the nightmares that spawn from kids on task AND in your town
Does tapping zombies/snakes/bunnies/skeletons in a friend's town count?
Tapping zombies/snakes/bunnies in a friend's town will count - ONLY if you still have friend actions left (30 towns max or 90 actions) AND they match what you need to upgrade. After that you just get cash/xp and the nightmares won't add to your upgrade total.
What happens if a friend is spawning zombies (or snakes/bunnies/skeletons) but I need snakes (or zombies/bunnies/skeletons)?
If you still have friend actions left - SKIP THIS TOWN for now. You will waste your friend action as it won't count to your upgrade total.
TIP to get head start in the morning:
When going to bed try to stagger who tells stories so your kids will spawn one currency and your town will spawn another. For example, if you need 50 more bunnies to get to the next upgrade level, send Milhouse to tell stories BEFORE you send all your kids on task. Once all kids are sent, you cannot change what they spawn. THEN store Milhouse to cancel his task, and send Bart to spawn skeletons in town.
Once you have this setup, you can keep the stagger going without having to cancel tasks. Try to keep a bit of a delay by sending the kids first, then waiting a few minutes to send your storyteller.
NOTE: Don't forget Lisa cannot be stored, and can only be rushed with sprinklies
NOTE 2: This will only work if your kids can spawn enough to get you to the next level
Milhouse - store Van Houten House
Bart - store Treehouse
Martin - store Library

May I ask how you got to this level at this stage?
An Italian tapper posted here in this forums, that he is at camp level 100. And he claimed that he did that without the use of donuts.

From what I can tell, your campfire will upgrade automatically, without depleting your crafting materials; however, you will only gain credit toward the upgrade when you have the right stpry being told. For example - you can only earn snakes towards an upgrade when Lisa tells a snake story.
