There are a couple of ways to add new friends, either accept friend requests or make friend requests.
In tapped out gameplay there is picture of Milhouse and Bart in the bottom right there. Select this Icon and this shows your friends Springfields.
Click the handshake icon and this will show you the friend requests you have received, which if you have posted your name (as you have) you may have received some requests and you can simply add or decline these.
To add names from finding friends page, click 'add origin friends' at the bottom of the page and type usernames in the search box.
