you've 42 days to complete them and do the max number of challenges you can do in that time. It'll be expecially usefull once events starts
Very true! To clarify, if you're level 16+ you have 42 days to complete as many challenges as possible, then after the 42 days the counter starts again? So you'd then start off at day 1 of 42 again?
Also, if we don't complete a challenge before the next one is available it doesn't matter because of the 42 day rule? So if I can't complete today's challenge until tomorrow (after tomorrow's has been released) it would still count? I hope that makes sense!
Edit: I just completed my 5th challenge, and claimed 3 donuts for doing so as I had 5/5 challenges. I presumed the box would then show I needed 10/10 challenges complete to earn 6 donuts (as per the table above) but it doesn't, it just shows the original message that the next prize for getting 5/5 challenges complete is 3 donuts. Should I not have claimed the 3 donuts and waited for tomorrow's challenge? Or am I just completely mis-reading the above tables? It doesn't take much to confuse me!!
Question 1: How does the 42 days cooldown works? Does it star after we completed the last challenge "20 Jobs Done" and received the corresponding 15 donuts? Or do we have 42 days to complete all the 4 challenges (5, 10, 15 and 20 jobs done)? Because if it is the latest, at the rate i am getting new jobs (1 a day), i would spend 50 days (5+10+15+20) to complete the cicle.
Question 2: Regarding the cooldown, were can we see how much time we have left?
Ok that number is the total number of challenges you need to complete in that 42 days. There is no timer. It starts when you start your first challenge (basicly the one you do after getting the quests). The levels are your town's level. The tailgate is a separate time limited item. They are actually two different updates really in one (the dcs was added in the files with the winter event takedown but only started yesterday)
LPN's table shows there are two lots of 5 challenges to do. I finished the first set this morning, this is what my daily challenge screen now looks like:
From tomorrow I can start the second set of 5 challenges.
EDIT:
I just finished the first set of challenges on my second town, however the screen shows this:
This only shows the prize for the second set as 3 donuts, now I'm confused too!
I opened up my donut shop first thing and my challenge for today (Android) is to Play Sideshow You in Krustyland x 2.
So I said "OK, I'll be doing that anyway", closed the menu and went on about clearing out my town and resetting everything then went to Krusyland and cleared my Tickets and did Sideshow You. When I returned to my town I checked the Donut Shop and... It didn't count. Looks like you need to use the 'Go to' button to make it count.
And for everybody else who didn't notice... There's a Donut Shop button in the upper right hand corner so you don't have to keep scrolling back to the Donut Shop every time (like I was doing all day yesterday...).

Yep, what happened in your secondary town is exactly what happened in mine and caused my confusion. Pleased I'm not the only one that thought it was odd!
So am I right in saying that the daily challenges arrive in no particular order as I have already done the Ned one which is near the bottom of the list.
Also, I now have to 'Make Sea Captain reminisce of Adventures' which I cannot see listed at all.
I'm so confused about all of this plus it is impossible to know who to leave free for the next task if you don't know what order the daily tasks are arriving in.
It is impossible to graft for doughnuts on the monorail, complete the 2 SHs tasks that I've been set and do the daily task too. I have no interest in SH and feel really pished off that I'm being forced to upgrade and build stuff there which ties up characters that I want to use on the Monorail.
I've never hated an update before but this one has really wound me up.
Agh just found it and it's another 8 hours!!!! So as of next week when I will be at work I will be able to do 1 task per day as I cannot play during work hours, won't be able to graft at SH and will feel in an even worse mood than I do now.

I'm just leaving the SH tasks in my taskbar. I don't think there's any relationship between the ones they put there yesterday and the tasks-for-donuts. Unless (and until) I get a SH task in my "Daily Challenge" box itself, I'm not concerned about doing SH. No donuts for doing those in my taskbar.
The timing was just coincidence (according to my tiny little pea brain). They updated my taskbar at the same time the challenge system began.

But many will be short. And they'll dole out the tasks one per day, but from what I'm reading, I THINK we have 42 days to complete them all. So on a day where I have time, I can go back and complete the 8-hour ones a group at a time. (Like yesterday I had Cletus and Ned both on 4-hours simultaneously). (I plan to set my backed up eight hour tasks overnight. )

Yes, don't worry about the SH tasks - just do them whenever you have time and feel like doing it, even if you're just sending one or two characters to craft stuff. Those tasks don't affect anything else in the game (just irritating to see them in the list waiting to be completed).
It will be interesting to see how things work with the railyard and the donut shop and whatever we have for the next event. I think something will have to give. :?

ROFL. How true. Over the past months, They've gone from making it almost impossible to get free donuts to giving us so many ways to earn them that we can barely keep track. At this pace if their trend continues, were going to come to a point where we need to strategize ways of figuring out how NOT to LOSE donuts, instead of figuring out how to get them in the first place.
What a complete and utter turnaround in policy.

Do I have to buy the tailgate party for this event?

I could have it all wrong, BTW!
