It has been rough going for me. I'm usually done with the rail yard by now. I'm about 15,000 away from my donuts but like many of you I have a lot of metal tasks this time around.
Brandine is set to give birth on April fools day so I'm stuck.
I try to alternate between casino tasks and metal tasks and so far I still appear to be on track with my casino so hopefully all will go well.
I'm trying to do some balance using three characters to do metal: Hippie, Burns, and Rev. Joy.
The rail yard ruins every event for me now, it's like doing two events at the same time and that's really exhausting. I'm grateful for the 5 donuts but it's really taking a toll on me, and let's not mention Heights. EA should ease up the tasks..
I started my Railyard tasks this week minutes after the clock ticked over at 2 AM (insomnia). I got lucky with a string of high payout projects and slammed through the first 3 prizes quickly, then started to crash and hit the sack - apparently minutes before the update hit.
This meant I was about 8 hours late starting the event.
When I woke up, found the event had hit and installed (an HOUR on our slow a** satellite internet) I decided I'd finish up my Railyard for the week and then do the Casino stuff. Big mistake.
I started getting almost nothing but projects requiring Metal and Junk. I finally smartened up and started working on the Casino, but I'm way behind where I would normally be on an event - just above the recommended numbers instead of 2 or 3 days ahead. I've been grinding like crazy to catch up.
Fortunately Brandine finished her final pregnancy on my birthday last week - giving me Birthday Spuckler ( I was gonna crow about it in the forum but got hit with paranoia - people would know my birth date!). I also have the invaluable Jesse Grass (now have him working the Redwood).
I'm usually done with the Railyard by Thursday morning or early afternoon. It took me until Friday evening to finish up.
Hope you had a great birthday and congratulations on the recent addition to the Spuckler brood Wadebear!
My Brandine still has one left to go but I don't dare let her get pregnant and be unavailable for 90 days. She always seems to be needed to do something else.
I have always finished the railyard tasks every week since they began. When there is an event or something else that needs the same characters, I send as many as I can to the event tasks first, then whoever is left to recycling. Sometimes there are only 2 or 3 working at each recycling center. Normally I finish the railyard on Thursday. It just takes me about a day longer if there's something else going on. But then I have Jesse and the other premiums needed for the railyard. It also helps that I'm retired and have lots of time to spend. The hardest part for me is remembering that it's Tuesday and time to start the railyard.
The event hit when I was on level four of the railyard for the week, and I kind of lucked out in that I didn't need a lot of metal this time, but I did take characters off the casino task for most of a day and had them grinding out metal for me. I figure I can spare an hour away from the casino at a time, as opposed to needing people to recycle for me and having to wait four hours. Plus, I calculated by the calendar that I was at least a day ahead on chips so it wasn't a big deal for me. No idea how I will manage come this Tuesday.
Jesse was totally worth it. I bought Uter with Barney space suit donuta and jesse.
I'm going to complete it tomorrow morning. I ays as well keep playing it next week and if I fail badly I will skip it during the event.
It'll be interesting to see if/how building Cletus's dice den and Homer's house of cards might affect RailYard production in the coming Acts. Let's hope not too much!
Hope you had a great birthday and congratulations on the recent addition to the Spuckler brood Wadebear!
Thank you! This staying alive business is harder than it looks.
I sat down and did the math... If I can upgrade the final 8 Valet Parking lots I'll have just enough to reach 1 billion and get Paris Texan. I was going to finish off the Business Centers first, but the Pills, Pills, Pills, Pills, Pills... I had to upgrade 1 Business Center too and I'm still refilling my Awards and Pills. It may be tomorrow before I finish.
I could also just barely afford the Rich Texan now that I picked up a few more donuts from Challenges, Maggie, and Friend Actions... But I don't really want him. I'm saving for other things. Where are those Platinum Scratchers we're supposed to get?
Well, I am about to fall just short of five donuts for the first time, short of a miracle
Every flipping thing requires metal, and Im maxed on Bottles & Plastic. I have to hope for a non metal combo or two in the next 40 mins, or it becomes impossible
With 2 hours and 15 minutes to spare I finally finished this weeks grind. I'm also done with act 1 and working on my second 8,000 chip bonus. And in another hour if I don't forget again I'll get back to finishing part 10 of the tree.
Ugh, I gave in and decided to do the Rail Yard this week even though I was going to take a break during the rest of this event.
I'm almost done with the Act 1 Prizes and I finished the Redwood, so I feel I have some wiggle room this week. And getting 10,000+ blueprints in the first minute of the rail yard inspired me to get the rest.
(And I guess spending 115 or whatever donuts on Miss Springfield also helped convince me to do the rail yard.)
well I got my 5 donuts with one hour to spare but didn't manage to max out on metal again so a delay in starting this week. I'm planning new tactics this week so will see how it pans out.
Ugh. Today started off with all three requiring metal and then after completing the large metal I got another large metal only. This one wants another 135 metal...
"I gave him a couple of blintzes to paint my fence but he never did it! "
I too managed to achieve the 5 donuts, about 8h from the deadline. But this week i think i will have to get jesse, or i'll have to do a huge gymnastic between tasks.
I put the monorail on hold. A week or so of missing it won't be the end of the world. I just got the monorail the way I like it so I would only be going after additional long pieces and donuts. Not worth to miss out on event content when the rail yard will always be around. Plus I'm trying to finish SH (by finishing all the building upgrades/purchases, already have 1 billion), so don't need 2 characters earning metal, plastic, glass and trash
typically finish the railyard tasks in 2-3 days; so I'm leaving all the event people on task at the casino and seeing if the others can handle the railyard without 'em.... if needed I'll pull them back in to help, since i'm a few days ahead with the casino stuff anyway

In what way(s) has imgur gone "to hell"? Why should people not be using it?
Just remove it, and use the website via Safari

I have decided to buy Jesse - because it is only going to get more difficult.
