I've been playing since 2012 and I've noticed that I have at least 3 active neighbors from way back then who has really messy towns. They had 3+ years to design their towns but at this point, I guess they'll never bother with it which is fine with me (it's their town after all). It's just that, navigating through their towns, especially during events, can be really frustrating. I wish that they could at least put some roads next to the landing spot during events so that I don't have to circle around their town several times to find 3 things to tap. But like I said, it's their town so... whatever suits them :)!

I wish my towns were set out more realistically. I started out that way but now having 3 towns, busy r/l and little time between events my towns arent as pretty anymore. I hate the way they look and am hoping that there will be some event down time soon so I can get them all sorted out.
I love visiting neighbours who have pretty, organised towns but I know it takes time to get to that stage, so I would never unfriend someone who had a messy town.

There's also one long double strip of road to gather the outdoor characters. It makes clearing my town a breeze (comparatively). It's not pretty anymore, but maybe someday when the constant events slow down I might find time to actually decorate again.

    Hold on !

What are you talking about? Your slow re-design must have taken you a real long time. I think it is brilliant. Really inventive.

NOT a Messy Town at all. You should post pics. I don't even care where your roads are. It's like coming out of a Mall and walking into an art gallery.

My town is a mix of designed and FUBAR. As others have said, I too started doing a redesign, and that was my big mistake. EA doesn't give us enough down time anymore to spend the amount of time necessary to do this right. I squeeze in time when I can just to play the events, but working fourteen hour days doesn't leave a lot of time for designing. If people want to dump me for having a **** town, they can. I have quite a few neighbors who's towns are in the same boat as mine, so it's all good.

I've been the subject of friendly ridicule for this (not here; in RL), but apart from an initial pang of defensiveness, I don't know what was expected of me.

I started a year ago, and my plan - from the outset - was to efficiently get to max level in all aspects of the game as soon as I could; then to work on getting all the pieces I was technically 'able' to get, but hadn't the in-game currency for it (such as land, upgradeable decos, etc.).

I was FINALLY completely caught up on these things sometime around THOH; but by then I had entered another event season (of which there were TONS last year), and had to slowly piece together my town in between participating in the events and acquiring numerous extra pieces as I went.

I was finally getting close to finished, when this casino event hit. Now, I wanna do the whole thing over again.

Point being: I left my town as tiny and super-stuffed as possible for a long time, just to catch up with everyone; because the events last year were NON-STOP, and my town was still maturing.

I think people should be forgiven their first year of non-aesthetic activity. Though a great many of you (forum participants) have been proudly playing this game for quite a bit longer, there are frankly more new players than old ones. Please be conscientious of those of us that didn't grow as the game itself did.

P.S.: Town-design is the single biggest inherent time sink in this game. That is all.

Personally, I'm not so sure what the fuss is about. I get it that not everyone has the same end goal look for their town- some people want it to look as close as possible to the one in the show, others might just place things without a care, and others will organize things to make things easier to tap and leave. Personally, my end goal is the first while still being efficient to clear, but it takes a lot of time to reorganize things, and it gets a lot worse due to new content and new land being released all the time. So while I understand it can be frustrating to spend a lot of time on your own town while other people's towns clearly haven't had the same effort spent on them, I also think we should recognize that not everyone has or wants to spend the time arranging all of their buildings or decorations just so. Different people play the game differently and I don't that's any reason to judge them.

So maybe some of your neighbors can be annoying to tap, or take too long to load, or may even just be plain ugly. Why not just delete them and find someone else to add? They're not actually your friends, so I don't think anyone should feel bad about deleting them.

I think I have a well designed town with some logic to the flow but have no idea if it is easy to navigate or find stuff. It got a little cramped when we weren't getting land but kept getting more buildings and events as I don't like storing paying buildings unless absolutely necessary and the town is just too big to do a nuke and redesign.

As for other messy towns, I don't really mind as I keep my neighbours to about the 40 mark and usually cull the non active members first.

    P.S.

If anyone wants a non messy neighbour feel free to add me. My only rules are 1) you play dailyor often enough to always have tapable buildings etc and 2) You don't plan on quitting anytime soon.

I find that threads like these are much better for finding "good" neighbours than the add me threads.

My town is a donut factory. I have nearly every character ever released, and I can clear their jobs with only 3 or 4 taps (and my IRS is only level 7). Aesthetics are meaningless to me, my goal is to acquire as many characters as possible, as easily as possible. It is a challenge for me to see how close together I can fit everything, collecting from many characters simultaneously.

Guilty of this. I think people are too worried about a "Nice" town. I think it is dumb if you de-friend them. After we get some down time from EA, I might actually design my town.

I started with a design patron, trying to make a residential, business and industrial part in my town, but lately it has been so hard to keep this "design rule", either way I think my SF is pretty and well organized. I try my SF to make sense meaning streets for people to walk and cars to pass by, houses with a way for people to enter them even some parking spots for the cars, like if it were a real town. Created a park with toys for the boys to play, etc... Also important to me, make it eco-friendly lots of tress, rivers, etc.

Lately I've noticed that some of my neighbours don't care about design, I've seen town with no roads, everything so close. I don't post pictures cause I think is a lack of respect, but several times I've been thinking of removing them (players I mean) from my friends list.

I apologize to all of my neighbors because my town is a messey town on the periphery. Have ideas to design but I get sidetracked with life stuff and then events start. Also that deco limit has me down because I like lots of little touches and stuff and I'm running up against the limit.

Messy towns that lack any type of design are often purged for new friend requests. The main reason I play this game is to design my town and be inspired by others.

My town is messy right now.
During events I tend to get rid of the streets except for around the event centers for neighbors to tap whatever the tapping currency is (casino players) after this event is over I will fix/rearrange my Springfield again

Yeah, pretty much the same thing, except I’m not apologizing. If anyone wants to unfriend me because my town somehow offends their sense of aesthetics, go right ahead.

Normally those messy towns don't bother me, I just tap their buildings and get out. But during this event it's been a little frustrating because it takes a long time to find the casino people. I have a few who have an organized town but no roads just pavement layed out to look like roads. i wish they'd put down a strip by their casino at least :/.

I just skip those people. I like my quaint town too, but if others want to "farm" then go ahead... it's their time and effort.

Don't be too critical of neighbors towns it's up to them how they design their towns. Mine used to be "messy" till my last redesign. I took ideas from showcase and from what I googled and now imo it looks good. Each to their own.

Awesome town nick, enjoy tapping in it!

I like towns that are a pleasure to visit and I like to look around them, but it doesn't bother me if they are messy
I tap and get out quickly. I wouldn't delete them because of that.

I have noticed that a few of my neighbours nucked their towns a while back but with the long continuous events just haven't had time to sort them out.

The thing is unless you have more than one SF you don't know how your town looks to OP. I don't know if mine crashes or if it's difficult for neighbours to tap unless they pm me.

Each to their own. Nick your town is looking good. :D

I've thought about deleting a few towns lately because of 'spoilers' from them rushing tasks. I understand being anxious to get new prizes or maybe rushing tasks if you don't have the time to log in much. But some of my neighbors had most of the prizes within the first few days and their players club towers fully upgraded rather quickly. The pacing of the game and waiting for tasks to complete to earn things is one of the most rewarding parts of this game for me. It kind of ruined the surprise element of unlocking prizes and placing them in my town when I visited their towns so I started blocking the screen with my hand when I visited, and tried to tap gamblers as quickly as possible without looking at the prizes. I noticed this also with a few towns right after the recent Springfield heights additions. They had all the buildings fully upgraded and full ornate piers within a couple days. All those private islands and hot air balloons made me want to puke! It's like they are in a race to show people "I got it first!" More power to them but I think I will delete those towns.

I also know what it's like to have a messy town. I want everything in its right location and that takes time. So I work in sections. I have some highly detailed sections and some messy sections that I will eventually get to. I try not to judge others towns too harshly as I don't know anything about that person. They could be a child just having fun or a busy adult playing on their lunch break. But task-rushers have no patience. And I have no more patience for them. 8)
