They don't in general do events where you *have* to buy premium items to finish. Yes, they will probably make it much quicker, but not strictly necessary.
I already have 11 (?) skins for Homer. If they would have made Homer's skin a prize and Skiner's skin premium I may have bought it. I don't think I have a premium skin for Skinner yet.

Yeah, you are right.. Homer has so many skins, that normally i don't use..
This is the reason why I was wondering if it is the case to purchase these two.. Although, as I said, I love them...
But I don't have so many donuts to spend for skins (it takes time to regen 100 donuts...)

Skinner's Stonecutter skin is premium now.
I have 13 skins for Homer. And a premium skin for Apu as well (all American) so even though it's an okay deal for both at 100 donuts, I don't feel like I'm that tempted.
I bought them....figured they were pretty much free after getting 100 bonuts or so ( including monorail and daily tasks) during last event. Don't know about the animation yet- they are putting out the fire at Kwik-e-mart right now. Will get back to you about that in about an hour.
Update: yes, some nice visual tasks, Apu; train the Dalmatian-with cute puppy, Moe; fundraising, which shows him on the street corner with a boot. These jobs pay 100/50 gold medals.

Unless they have really awesome task animations?
Here is the 3 hour task animation. I don't know if these will stay after the event.
The put out the fire task for the firehouse, school, and KM are perm and triggered when clicking the firehouse. So, unless you have these skins you won't see Homer etc. outside spraying the water to put out the fire. Just saying.
I don't think it's that over priced. If you consider who these skins are targeted at then you'd see why I'm saying that.
Most players who don't spend hundred won't buy them. It's usually completionists who buy out all the new items. That's who they are targeting those skins to.
Newer players might also be interested to add veriaty to their characters.
Us older players who spend money occasionally won't buy them because those hundred donuts can be spent on a standalone character.
A recent good deal was the Vegas wives. 115 donuts for 2 premium characters. That's a great buy. I jumped on that one.
I just know I'll forget to use them. Or not have any time to during constant events. So I passed. I didn't pass on the Pile-Up though. I see it fitting in nicely as a dinner for Truckasaurus.
doughnuts and boughnuts been generous for a while now. the skins could have been cheaper though. this could be the start to the badlands. i didnt expect the fire update-forum chatter didnt lead us to this. be patient!
i have to agree 100 donuts is a lot just for 2 skins. but i brought them as i just wanted to get them so i got all the fireman i'm not that bothered about help with the tasks as i always finished them in time. just thought i might as well get the set
The reason that those skin are at 100 donuts is that people are starting to get to triple digits in their donuts with free donuts. EA knew that people would want to buy popular costumes no matter what.

I won't buy the skins, but I wouldn't agree that they're overpriced. 50 donuts per skin seems at least on par with previous offerings.

Gah, don't know why the image isn't showing up.
Cmon EA, this has to be classed a design goof.....or bad idea at least?

Edit for the kind of thing I mean.
If it said 100 donuts for both skins plus firehouse straight away,, would we all just buy them?
The psychology in this game is too frustrating.
If i can project i won't make it without them, I'll make the buy.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide that calendar or a link.
I like them but not that much
