Not everyone has been playing this game since it began. Most people on this forum seem to have been, but the majority of people who play this game haven't.
I keep saying this myself; but I think that those of us that have been playing for less than 2-3 years are in the minority here, unfortunately.
It's a shame that people who have been playing for so long and devoted so much time to this game could be so thoroughly (and repeatedly, if this forum is any indication) disappointed with pretty much everything EA has done with it in the past year or so. I have been reading about how much everyone hates crafting for a year now; yet, I - as a newer player - have never had an event that didn't involve crafting.
I guess this game used to be a lot better, eh folks? Enough to... say... garner your long-term loyalty, even when you're disappointed with the content? It must've been pretty great, is all I'm sayin'.

Yeah, it was greater than anything now. No crafting, all plain and simple.

yeah, the 'good ole days' where we went weeks without any new updates/content; where we had a random prize wheel to give us the event rewards (who wants to gather their own crafting items and build what they want when you can let the wheel decide for you? ), and where freemium players felt like they hit the jackpot if they managed to hit double digits in donuts.
I'll take today's world any day... build what you want/as much as you can during events; and it's basically raining donuts like Homer's time-travel world. These are the good ole days, my friend.
Keep it n perspective. It's not much different than a lvl update. Instead of just giving you the fire station you complete a storyline to unlock it. I think it's fun. And I love the fire animations.

I've only been playing since the Monorail, so I only really know crafting events. Any new content is more than welcome.
If it wasn't so bugged for me, I would enjoy it - and I hope to be able to get the firestation anyway (if only it was the Ghostbusters firehouse...). I have a suspicion this is a way to create a story line that allows that desert update.

Maybe I'm even rarer... I've played since the beginning (if you count the relaunch as the real beginning), yet I have no problem with the events of today. Maybe since I dealt with the garbage that is QFS and crafting is incredibly blown out over there. I feel the way it's handled in TSTO has been fair to me. This is targeted at the event crafting, and not the time sink that is SH. I hate that the SH tasks are so short.
The prizes of the past events were (mostly) converted into full time premiums. Barney, Tatem, Miss Springfield were all prizes to be won and have been full time premiums. There's others in there as well, but I feel those are the most cherished ones. I still hold my ground that Whacking Day was more difficult than it should have been, but the prizes are definitely some of the best the game has seen.
Oh well, since JoshSheerer (if I remember the nick correctly) is gone from the forum (or I don't see him) someone had to take his place as the "Forum's Chief Pessimist"
No.
No one "had to". We don't need a Chief Whiner in Charge of Complaining, who complains about everything whether it's bad or not.
When things in the game are kinda lame or sucky, we all are well aware of it. We don't need a band leader to tell us when to vent, or play devil's advocate.
If someone has a glitch to report, great. But we don't need a new thread every time one person in a thousand doesn't have their unreasonably high expectations met. It's just aggravating and prompts negative back lash. AKA TROLLING.
We could have had NOTHING for two weeks. Instead we got a highly requested building, in its own specially themed event. I think it's nice EA recognized our wishes in the forum and provided it. But OP wants to * on it? Booo...
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
The casino event would have been more fun, had we been able to work with our friends. I believe, EA thought they'd be greedy, but in reality, they made the event easy, and garnering extra donuts was a breeze. 110 for us, -130% for EA.
I've been playing for a long time and I'm NOT a complainer. I enjoy each event for what it is, if I have the donuts and want something, I buy it. I like events where we can help and acknowledged our neighbors. I've gotten my share of free donuts lately so I spend them more freely. If you think about it, for 100 donuts you get 4 skins, some cool animation AND a fire station....what could be better?????
No offense, but you're nuts. Only thing really new is the two new skins, and 50 donuts a pop, especially after it being so easy to rack up the bonuts on the last event, it's a steal.
Even if you don't get those skins, it's a free fire truck and fire station for our Springfields! Free! I mean, really...dude...come on. Free fire station. It's just a mini event, and a pretty sweet one at that.
I think this update is great. I'm already half way thru the prize track with very little effort. It's just a step up from a tie-in or level updates. It's a fun way to pass the time. I really enjoy that they keep a constant flow of new and fun updates and content. Having played this game for years, I have to admit, I'm enjoying this game more now than ever, with the excepection of crafting, which I have come to loathe.
I can't complain too much about this mini-event. We're getting new material right after the Casino update. I've been playing a little over a year and the freemium skins are for characters that haven't had freemium skins since I've been playing.
It would have been nice if the premium skins could have been purchased separately.

Erroneous!
