Sorry you guys are having trouble, especially Newcastlenia...you just got off my missing neighbor list :(
At the risk of backlash, has anyone tried EA yet?

I tried Amazon since it might be an issue on their end (and my wife has the computer right now). No luck getting a hold of them.

I had no problems getting the take down update on my 5th gen Kindle. I did have a problem once on my 1st gen and had to use the the following. Sorry not updated for gen 4 or 5.
Clearing your Kindle cache is not only good, regular maintenance for your Kindle but can also fix many common issues with mobile games when they won't load or close mysteriously mid-game. This may happen if the files in your cache get corrupted or just stop working.

    For Kindle Fire 1st Generation

From the Home screen, tap the Quick Settings icon.
    Tap "More," then tap "Applications."
Choose "All Applications" from the pull-down menu and tap "Appstore."
Tap "Force stop," then tap "Clear Data."

    For Kindle Fire 2nd Generation

From the home screen, open the menu.
    Tap "More."
Tap "Applications," then tap "Installed Applications."
Tap "Appstore," and then press "Clear Data."

    For Kindle Fire 3rd Generation

From the home screen, open the menu.
    Tap "Settings."
Tap "Applications," then tap "Manage All Applications."
Tap "Appstore," and then press "Clear Data."

Yes I have the same issue. Hope they can fix it soon. I had other problems playing this event on my Kindle Fire as I couldn't visit neighbours using this device. Bit of a pain

I was unable to play the Wild West event at all on my kindle fire, 2nd gen, due to lag. It was really horrible, would lag and kick me out. I played on my iphone and was hoping with the takedown it would return to normal, but it's the same.

I was able to install the takedown and open the game, but it still lags badly.

I've gone through all of the steps listed by amazonprimechic, plus removed just about all the other apps on my kindle, most of my 64 GB are available and it's still slow.

Friend visits are slow or kick me out and have been for a long while now.

Not sure it it's my kindle or the appstore.

Wish I could get it fixed before I go totally blind from looking at my small screen

It's a relief it's affecting others at least! I was going to wait until the next uodate/event in case it self fixes at that point. For now, I'll just continue to use my phone!

I'm also missing the takedown on my kindle. I think it's the UK app store that hasn't updated yet. It doesn't usually take this long though.

I've tried everything too, I'm guessing for some reason Amazon haven't released takedown yet. I usually get any updates immediately.

Well, they finally took the update lock off. I at least got to log in before heading to bed, so I'm only losing about 8 hours instead of nearly a full day :P

That teaser was really disappointing, wasn't it?

Mostly lost time I was going to work on finishing my badlands while my wife was busy on the computer. I played one of her games on her tablet instead

Thank goodness I'm not the only one. This is the first I've seen of others having this issue. I reinstalled twice but nothing!

Is it fixed now at all for anyone?

You can get back into the game again. Now the "you must update" message has gone. But, the bandits and all that go with them are still there. No takedown as yet!
