Castiel19x, I say! I like the natural groove on that plot of land. Thanks for the idea. I hope my town has been an inspiration some time

looks good with using Springfield Arms to carry out the urban style!! i may probably just the store Orphan Alley after the event, find it (the height and size) really difficult to fit into the town...

I probably do the same and store it. Can't really think of any thing to do with the Orphan Alley.

This seemed to be the only existing thread not closed that's appropriate to post this in. This is a pic of my "southside of downtown SF".
    zHg1fX9.jpg
The root building for this area was the prison, since it's what is the second foreground building shown, after the nuclear plant, in the show's opening sequence. As my town grew, the prison became overshadowed by the industrial zone and low-grade apartments around it. Practically all older towns have a side, usually the south side, where the economy is visibly worse, and I was trying to do this here.

You can see the Orphan Alley and adjacent train station have now become the dingy center for the area. These apartments with the prison view are obviously the cheapest flats in the neighborhood. You can also see where Kirk, Edna K, and Patty & Selma live, if you look closely.

This neighborhood has several light industry factories, several low-grade food places, and smaller retail shops. Cobblestone roads still waiting for their first coat of modern pavement are dead-ends into the core of the alley and rail yard. There's a lot of public trash.

The orphan alley is one of the many features in the game that should be really big, but look oddly compressed so it doesn't soak up too much real estate. A helpful tip for designing with these features, is to use them as part of a much larger design. It is a commitment of real estate, but i've always found it worth it. The Monsarno buildings are another that needed a huge footprint. I wouldn't have been happy without making it a large campus. The western area is another big zone, but seems easier for people to commit to, maybe simpler with its own roads and dirt n' all.

I hope seeing this pic helps inspire people having trouble placing any of these buildings. Sometimes you can't focus on the design of the single building. Instead use the building as a key part of a larger design, like a themed neighborhood. The more i tried to bury the Orphan Alley, overlapping other buildings and adding trash, etc. the more cramped it felt, and more realistic it looked. This is one of the few areas where the roads aren't completely visible, because it's so overbuilt.

Let's see some more designs! Happy tapping!
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
