I agree. This and the neighbor list also drive me nuts because every time I make a selection it returns to the start of the list. So if I'm searching multiple characters or clearing out inactive neighbors I have to scroll from the beginning every time instead of where I left off. It would be a lot less work with categories...even a search by alphabet letter would improve it.
