Just about tapped out...

I've been playing Tapped Out since its original misfired launch. Coming up on five years now. But I've growned tired of the game... tapped out, if you will...

For about the last year or so the game seems to have lost its way. The storylines don't come from the show (or, if they do, it is very loosely tied). The events are all the same -- alternate currencies that you have to collect to earn lame prizes. The wit is gone. What happened?

It's also frustrating that those of us that have been with the game for forever aren't being incentivized to continue. The investments we've made into premium characters and other items don't give us any advantage in the game after the event they've been created for ends. What's the point of buying a premium character that is really only good for a few weeks during an event? Especially at what they cost, which literally works out to over $10 per character?

And where are events based on classic story lines? Why haven't we had an event where Bart and Homer collect grease? Why has there been no event where Mr. Burns is shot and townspeople are interviewed to find out who did it? Why hasn't Selma gotten married to every eligible bachelor in the game? Why isn't Sideshow Bob still trying to kill Bart? Why haven't we built a hydroelectric dam? Why isn't Mr. Plow competing against the Plow King to plow driveways during the winter events? Why has there been no search for Bobo? Where are the Thompsons? Why no Homer, Marge, or Abe in their younger days? Where are the 25 Dalmatians? And Laddy? What happened to the quest to steal the lemon tree from friends? How about a chili cookoff? No trips to Africa, Brazil, England, or Japan? Where is the Ribwich? Where's my burrito? Any one of those could be the basis for an event that Simpsons fans can appreciate.

Also, those of us that have played the game for a long time and have huge Springfields are at a severe disadvantage for the types of events we've had for a while now... any time we need to search the city to collect items for the event, we've got it harder than those who have recently joined the game because we have so much more of the map we have to search. I've unlocked every land expansion possible, so it takes a long time to search the whole town. (Frankly, too much time so I've nearly given up.) Almost as if we're being punished for having invested a lot of time (and money!) into the game.

Also, what do you expect us to do with all of the millions we've collected in in-game currency? I've bought everything I can and still have 160 million. But I can't buy premium characters with it -- those require donuts.

"The storylines don't come from the show (or, if they do, it is very loosely tied)."

Funny you mention that... when's there is a freaking event going on connected to an episode!

  • I totally agree that the devs are missing out on tons of great content from the show, and you mentioned a lot of the good ones.
    However,
    (1) We did have a chili cook off....
    (2) You can pretty easily convert all of that cash into donuts. PM me if you want to know more.

But overall, I understand how you feel about being tapped out. I still love the game and, like you, I've been playing since the game first came out.
  • Use the 160 million and turn that into Donuts. I wish I had that much. I only have 50 million or so and I burn through about 10-20 every so often to get myself 250-300 donuts...then save it back up and do it again.

Right there with you as far as straying from classic episodes and adding loosely based stuff. But....

    1) They did do a Chilli cook-off event
    2) homer has a Mr. Plow skin, barney has a Plow king skin and the Plow king truck is currently in my town.
    3) The dalmatian episode is touched on with the burns money pile producing his vest, see his vest....lol
    4) If you click on the power generator (5×Xp thingy) and start buying blood mobiles you'll get a ton of donuts. My XP is 400% which is probably way lower than yours and I get about 115 donuts for every 10 mil. Spent on blood mobiles.

But totally get you. Ever since I first played this game I expected a shooting Mr. Burns update but my hopes were dashed once I saw the sun blocking device in the Springfield dump. :'( And I would love to see cousin Merls dog caught in the see-ment mixer. Lol
  • You should ask for your money back.

Not a classic episode... you know, the ones people actually enjoy watching.

Sounds like you still have a thing or two to learn about the game!
  • I still can't believe they gave us ONE Pin Pals skin, just for Apu. They could have had an AMAZING bowling/Pin Pals event :( I'm seriously still upset over it, it's such a great episode and we could have gotten so many cool prizes.
But we already did it. It took seven hours, but we did it. It's done.

So you know already that the Sunday's episode is unenjoyable and can't be a classic episode!?

Didn't you know that past a certain age, you can't enjoy new things anymore? Music, films, Simpsons episodes, none of it.

Thank you so much for reminding me how ef star starred my life now is. Kisses love and all that from the old (escaping fragrant air)
  • I have two or more characters from last Winter earning premium, at least one I bought as premium. Wrong event to complain about that. Otherwise I agree with you. We need more premium character use in new events.
Here is my signature. Or maybe it's not.
  • I definitely understand, and agree with a lot of what you said. I played the game pretty seriously from the start, but more recently have had to take a couple breaks, mostly because of event burnout. I highly recommend time away! Yes, I missed cool stuff I now see in neighbor towns all the time :'( But honestly, it doesn't matter. If you're burned out, grinding to get it all will simply be a chore and you won't care nearly as much about it in the first place. And this is supposed to be FUN. After my last long break (quit after not quite getting the rail yard, I was pissed with my sad little oval of track), I came back to a reinstated rail yard and enough new content to keep me interested. And because I had previously skipped out at the start of the casino event, crafting is still something of a novelty, so Halloween and now this event aren't a tiresome grind.

tldr; if it's not fun, don't play. It'll be okay. Take up another game or another hobby. It'll more than likely still be here when and if you come back. And if you don't come back, it's probably because you're doing something more worthwhile with your time!
