# My money counter shows a negative sign in front of it

75 posts Member
At first, it didn't affect collecting money, but NOW, it actually SUBTRACTS money (or adds money to the negative). What the heck is going on, and is this happening to anyone else?!?!?!

That happens when you have too much money, I can't remember the exact figure but if you go over some huge number it cycles back to the negative equivalent, it won't effect gameplay in anyway but if you want to go back to positive figures just spend a ton of money.

you have to be kidding me. I guess that number is \$2.5 Billion or so....
I guess there goes my dreams of \$10 billion...

The limit is \$2.2 billion, I've had it happen before. The only way I got it to reset was by spending that exact same amount. It then reset back to 0

I spent enough money on land that it flipped back to positive. But then somewhere around \$2.147 Billion it went negative again. Bought just a little more land and it's positive again. Now I'm at \$2,147,006,696 positive. Going to see if I can catch the moment it flips next time.

Tech stuff...
32 bit signed integer uses 31 bits to represent up to 2,147,483,647 and one bit for negative / positive. The programmers could have avoided this but I guess they never thought anyone would ever get that high.
2,147,483,647 + 1 = -2,147,483,648
2,147,483,647 + 2 = -2,147,483,647
2,147,483,647 + 3 = -2,147,483,646
32 bits can represent up to 4,294,967,296 numbers: -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647 (or 0 to 4,294,967,295 for unsigned integer)
Whoa, whoa, whoa – I only accept cash, bitcoin, or GameStop stock.

Its ok. Get that for a while. one extra line of code in EA programming should help, just divide that by one million and show it in M.
Also you will see the correct amount in the bank when you purchase game cash items, your running total is displayed top right

Edit, fixed typo
