Trying to re-design my heights area. I took away all those hills I made. Did a few things in the area...one of which is this. It's just a little thing I did, not sure yet if I want to keep it....everyone else has their own type of airport ideas. Decided to do it like this. What do you guys think??

PS--the snake tree's I'll probably get rid of. They don't really go with what is there. X]

Looks great!! You're right though, the snake trees dont really go with the look you're going for but awesome setup so far.
As far as constructive criticism/pointers/ideas with your design, some things i would do to make it flow better and have that more authentic look would be
#1 I'd change the orientation of the entire Airport (which would be easier now since we can hold and drag to select a big area of items) so that the mountains arent behind it, cause they sort of shorten the "landing and take off " distance (im a bit ocd about little details like that with my town lol but it helps give areas a more "realistic/functional" look and feel )

#2 With it having a "desert" vibe and color scheme sort to speak, i think the 'Future Proofed Home' from the Scifi event would fit perfectly with it, not as a house but more like an Airport Control Tower, just a thought :)

If you dont remember what it looks like, here is the image of it

And these are just what came to my mind and how I'd personally go about it so i don't expect you to change your own design cause of me obviously, so please don't take it as me being pushy or anything lol

Thanks for the ideas. You're right, That Future Proofed Home is perfect for it. And as of right now I deleted it from my town, I mean my airport that I did there. I got my entire Halloween event set up on the Heights area where the airport thing was. I can always re-build it though. And when I do I'll make it a bit bigger and place it some place else. In fact way way over on my east side of my town I basically slowly making it a Desert. So I may remake it over on that side of town. If they can give us more airport type items it'd make it easier to design too. Oh, and I totally agree. I am the same sometimes with realistic designs I have done that a few times in my town here and there. Or at least tried too when I could. Also "space" is an issue, that is why it was so small before. With lack of land, and my other designs I've made before in the way it is hard to replace, or re-locate some stuff I got set up.

  • Since you mentioned it, below is my airport. I used the Player's Club from the casino event as my control tower (that's what inspired me to try this in the first place). For anyone who doesn't know, the Little Black Box was a private bar for pilots in the show that Homer snuck into.

I really dig your take on it with the dirt roads and trashed plane. Makes it look like something used by smugglers rather than a traditional airport. >:)

I'm about to set up my 'bigger' Desert Airport now finally over on my Right side. My Desert area. Or at least attempt to. But it'll be bigger than my small one that's for sure. I can't put anything THAT big just yet. But if they give us more land in the area I want to put it in I will expand.

I love it, it kinds reminds me of the movie 'Con Air' with the airstrip in the desert!
  • The new airport I just made I had to get rid of....I had to make room for the event....if they ever give us more land I will be able to rebuild for the 3rd time.

  • I gotta admit. I'm kind of bummed that we've got "official" airport stuff now. Yeah, a lot of it is replacing what I made before, but it's losing its specialness.

I know what you mean. I will be sad when I replace my custom airport with the new stuff. I'm currently trying to decide how I could incorporate the new with the old.
