I would make sure to have money for the main storyline buildings first, and maybe some in reserve, but would definitely get Pimento Grove before unneeded land acquisition, and certainly before a $1-2M decorative building that serves no purpose.
If you're that far along in the game, saving up that much cash should only take hours or at most a couple of days anyway, right?
Burns manor will always be there, Pimento Grove may be gone soon so get while you can.
It's not limited time though, so it will be there until the game grows unpopular and eventually is shut down, though hopefully we will all outlast that so future generations can enjoy this game, so by then..........
It's worth it as it adds to your restaurant stats and that means one less Gulp-N-Blow, Lard Lad, or Krusty Burger needed to keep that stat at a good level.

Smithers has a task involving the post office almost immediately.
Don't see how that's a waste of money.
That's where I'm torn, I didn't buy the post office when it came out, so I had to postpone the burns manor missions for a little less than a week.

My point is I will always be able to get it.
Except I'm not a farmer, and I have enough space in my town not to be able to put a single bush anywhere.
I didn't really want to, but I did it for the best
I wish they would make palm trees for decor too.
Palm trees would be awesome for an up-market part of town!
