  • I have this thing for 70s, 80s, 90s TV movies & shows...so last night I watched "The Operation" (aka Bodily Harm) with Joe Penny & Lisa Hartman Black. It's an earlier version of "Malice" (Kidman, Baldwin, Pullman) - personally I prefer this version.

Ever watch RwDt09's videos on youtube? He compiles opening credits for tv shows, often grouped by year but also organized by other ways. Sometimes if I need a break I'll pull one up and zone out to it.

Great compilation...a few I'd forgotten about & will add to my list of recordings to seek out.

Over the weekend, I watched Thirst, Korean horror drama brought to us by the Director of Oldboy. Very Unconventional and long move at 2.5 hrs. Love, drama, dark comedy, horror all incorporated.

this sounds interesting. Is it one netflix's or amazon?

  • My wife had been pestering me to see Hacksaw Ridge, which she really enjoyed, and after finally having watched it I agree — it’s a pretty good film, although getting an Oscar nomination for best film seems a bit much to me. I’ve only seen the lead, Andrew Garfield, in a few things; with the possible exception of his performance in The Social Network, this may be his best work.
As is true with many war films, I found that the material that was the most engaging by far was that which occurred before the actual war stuff — i.e., the evolving moral sensibilities of the main character (the real-life Desmond Doss), his relationship with his family, fiancée, and the members of his platoon, etc. Once the focus shifts to the fighting in Korea, it becomes clear that director Gibson spent a lot time studying the first 30 minutes of Stephen Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan. These sequences are okay, but a little monotonous, occasionally bordering on the trite (as when his companions regard Doss in quiet awe when he first comes down off the Ridge).

spoiler alert...its based on a true story....he had to actually cut stuff out cause it was too outrageous he didnt think people would believe it....

  • Watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol II.

Probably 90% as good as the first one (first one had Thanos and an infinity gem, also songs i thoroughly enjoyed)

I must say the opening credits song for the movie was awesome, i had to sing along, spoilers:
It was about a "Blue Sky" written by a group known for their use of Orchestras and Electric lights.

In general good movie would watch again, i cried like a wussy in the trailers though, mainly during the Star wars one (the emotional nostalgia + Dolby sound was too much for me to handle, the second i heard Mark Hamill/ Skywalkers voice i broke in tears. Them feels.)

Some awesome movies to look forward this year

    Kingsman, Golden Circle
    rs_680x382-170425045515-Kingsman-3rd.gif

    Thor Ragnarok
    Thor-5.gif

    Starwars Last Jedi
    giphy.gif

    Spiderman Homecoming
    giphy-2.gif

I wont get political, but i am looking forward to the movies that are being released this year.

I'm going to see GOTG Vol II tonight. I'm glad to see one review that says it is good...though I haven't really looked for other reviews on it, :D

Other than Thor and the next Star Wars installment, I really want to watch the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I feel like I've seen previews for another movie I want to see, but I can't remember what it was at all. :D Hopefully if I see the previews again at some point I'll remember it.

  • So to add to what someonewashere said about GOTG Vol II, I will say I cried during a part of it. But the movie was funny, I ended up loving Drax and Yondu as much as Groot. In true Marvel fashion, they do have after credits clips, I think three...maybe four. Too many people thought they had waited long enough after the the first clip played and left right after that. Then even more thought it was definitely finished after the second clip and left after that. So if you haven't seen it yet but intend to go to a theatre and watch it, don't get up until they show a red and white logo on the screen that says Marvel Studios. That is definitely the end and will probably be when the lights start coming on.

Also with previews I remembered two other 2017 movies that might be good. "Valerian and the city of a thousand planets" and "Dunkirk" which from what I read is based on a true story. I also saw the previews for Kingsman and the next Spider-Man movie, I wasn't to thrilled with previous Spider-Man movies, but this one looks good along with Kingsman.

We watched Bad Santa 2 last night but turned it off halfway through. It just wasn't funny like the first one :/

We watched Bad Taste a few nights ago. Really silly and funny and it especially made me laugh when the credits came up and we discovered our favourite character was played by Peter Jackson himself! He must have given himself the most fun part to play :p

  • Last night I watched 3 Faces of Eve and Rear Window. 3 Faces was good and Rear Window was not the best Hitchcock film I've seen. I've been watching a lot of old movies lately.

I really want to see GotG2 but it doesn't look like it's going to happen for at least 2 weeks.

Damn you work different work schedules!!!

Started watching "The Gangster Chronicles" (1981) on Sunday night & figure it will take me most of the week to get through the 13 one hour episodes. Partly it's taking me some time because I watch a little & then someone or something gets mentioned & I have to Google them to read more about them.

  • Covenant, this weekend, methinks.

Marvel made a mistake getting these top actresses to play the girl friends. They generally did not want to return in sequels I feel. The roles are too insignificant for them.
  • well the only movie i have ever liked Natalie Portman in was Leroy the Professional...ive just never really been a huge fan of her as an adult actress. Even in Star Wars i just found her characters kind of repulsive....

I used to like Natalie Portman. Saw her in Leon and then Beautiful Girl. But she became a very serious actor in films like Black Swan and Jackie , that actually affected my feel for her  . By the way I love the soundtrack album of Beautiful Girl.
  • i havent seen that yet, but i do actually want to see Black Swan... i dont know, there are actually very few actresses that i like...
