Yes Homer Lizard not Homer Dinosaur. The Lizard is quite small and a NPC.
When tapped makes a swollow sound after catching a fly (I think it's a fly) with its tongue.
Nothing to be excited about.
I was wondering the same about the baby t-rex... don't know if it's worth trying to excavate 24 gems for an NPC when I could save my shovels for Act 2
Getting 24 more gems is pretty easy, should only take around 150 shovels. And there's still nearly a week left in the act. The NPC baby t-rex isn't super exciting (to me) but why wouldn't you go for it? If you're earning about 29 shovels a day then you're going to hit the 199 shovel limit before Act One is over. And I'm guessing you're earning way more than that. You have the shovels to spare for the T-rex.

Thanks for the reality check
To be fair I've got three days coming up where i'm not going to have much time to get on the game, so didn't want to try for it and fall short and then regret wasting the shovels I could've used for a head start on Act 2, as it will end up in my storage with every other NPC I have gained over time...
As you point out though, 7 days left, currently got 34 shovels with 10 to come in half an hour or so... i'll see what I've accrued by Friday when I have more time to play again..
I got Homer Lizard yesterday or so. One of the most disappointing TO things I've ever gotten. Disappointing due to its size. Even when zoomed in the face is just a few pixels. It makes Homer Dog seem like a giant. I'm sure those that play just on a phone will be pleased. Not. I had to go back to the crafting screen and stare at the thumbnail there to actually appreciate it again.
I agree @stinkbugger I can barely tell it's a Homer face even when I zoom in. Disappointing and it was a lot of currency. That and the fact I never received my currency prize has me a little down on this event.
Not at the moment, but it's kinda similar in size to Snowball II maybe? His face is NOT like the face size of Doggy Smithers (yes, I realize that's not a NPC). It's much smaller.

Yeah, I'm skipping it for more tar fields
