Had this great idea, but then saw a neighbour had already done it...
There's just something I wanna ask people, long story short, I was starting my neighbour visits last night and pondering the design of my town, I started thinking, how about I make some kind of park, with the velvet ropes around a dirt path going through it and all these craftables as exhibits along the way....
Just as I was thinking it, I called in on a neighbour....who'd had a similar idea, but was better....immediately I thought, how am I supposed to do my idea now because this neighbour will think I've copied them when I haven't....
So, has anyone else ever thought of something and then seen the same thing in a neighbours town, do you just carry on with your plan, do you look at things and think, "That's good, i'll try something like that" or do you just downright steal someone else's design and then showcase it as yours as you know they don't visit the forum

Just last week I saw something awesome in the town of IckabodShrek, but I couldn't figure out how he did it, so I asked him and he showed me the way.
I have seen some of my designs appear with neighbours and that's fine by me too. Glad to help.
I have seen a couple of things in towns where neighbours are forum members and asked them direct if I can use the idea and I know most people do take inspiration, including myself...
This had crossed my mind...
But to be fair, I wouldn't be stealing his idea, I had it at around the same time then saw his, so it was just one of those things
This is something I do if I like someone else's design.
I've seen designs very similar to what I was thinking to do.
seen designs and mimicked the design to suit mine and expound on it.
Come up with designs totally original and seen them in friends towns after.
Asked someone if I could borrow a killer design that I never thought of but could build on.
There are even designs in friends towns that are so smokin' cool that I can't steal, borrow or copy! (Thinking Buddhist Temple and Spooky F**kin' Drive-in!) but do pm them to tell em how hot they are! The designs that is
All in all, it's about fun and design. Let's get real-show me one player who looked through Showcase and never copied, or utilized designs they saw- I'll show you a player with few friends so they aren't found out for being the thieving lying art smugglers they really are!
