Frustrating Events

I have the feeling that the events are specially made for people who have the time to log in 15 times a day or at least every 4 hours. Or that have the money to buy enough donuts to get all prizes. Or have several dozens of "friends".
This is very frustrating for a regular player who cannot log in as much. I keep missing out on prizes because of lack of time. The number of stuff we have to collect is way, waaay too high. I missed the first two last prizes (Moe's Cavern, Pyramid with Egyptian Willy) and will probably miss the Pirate Ship too seeing that I'm two prizes away and there's only a few days left. I play Tapped Out a lot since 2013 (it's basically the only game on my phone).
Can't EA do something about it ? I don't have the time to collect 100k or however many collectibles is needed to get the top prize. Some of us players have to work for a living.

I have played the game since the very start, I remember playing the first Halloween and Christmas events and missing a few days and I was still able to get all the prizes, now however I never get the last prize in the track and just about scrape the second to last.
I still absolutely love this game and continue to play it every day when I can, but I do wish the events were designed differently to accommodate those who are at work or school and can't be on the game 24/7.
Just plays for fun, something to do to pass away the time. Certainly don't stress out or have I spent a dime on the game in all the years I've been playing.
Perhaps the difference might be if you have premium characters. In one of my towns I only have 5 people yielding 10 shovels every 4 hours. With work etc I usually get 3 to 4 logins per day. I can not get enough treasure to complete the prize track, nor will I be able to craft even 1 of each item. The events are structured easier, but it seems a necessity to have premium characters. In my main town I generate 21 shovels every 4 hrs vs the 10 in the other.
Okay, that’s a fair point and one I should have considered. The OP doesn’t mention how many shovels he’s generating every 4 hours, but (without looking) I know I’m getting a bit over 20.
I'm with you. I do have all the premium characters, maybe that is the difference. I work full time and then some (usually 15-20 hours of overtime a week) and still manage to finish with plenty of time to spare. The past few events Ive been finishing roughly halfway through the act.
Just a suggestion to those having trouble, check out the strategy thread. Its full of good info and tips to help you get the most out of the event.
(*EDIT: for the record, I did miss out on Sgt. Skinner, he was the last prize in Act 1 of the Sci-Fi event, it was the very first event I played and it had started two days after I joined the game, so wasn't fully up to speed)
When i'm at work, it's average 11hr days (12 with my commute) but I manage to log in when I wake up before I go to work, at least once during the day on a break, then when I finish work before I go to bed...
I can usually log in four times during any given day, but I tend to concentrate on my main event characters...
For example.. this time it's Lisa, Milhouse, Willie, Apu and Cletus... so they go on task..
Everyone else goes on 8hr overnight tasks, 12hr tasks when I wake up for work, couple of 60m tasks in the evening, rinse and repeat (unless i'm day off then 60m tasks with 4hr ones to give me time to do whatever other stuff needs doing)...Sometimes I even task everyone else to 24hrs if I know I've not got much time or don't want to be messing around first thing in a morning...
Whichever way though, it means that when I log in at work I literally have to reset my task characters, use my collection point and done, takes me less than a minute... Neighbours I can do during the evening in between 60m tasks, usually takes me roughly 30m to complete a full set, half that if I just want the 90 friends actions..
I may be lucky in that I can connect my phone during a break and other people aren't as fortunate, everybody has a different situation..so I can't say anyone else isn't doing it right or is doing something wrong.. I'm just stating how I get it done to see if it helps give anyone else any tips in the future..
That's it I guess. Since they made it a bit «easier» to get donuts, they rised the number of items to collect to get all prizes. It's a pity.
Like NewfieCutie said, I barely get the second to last prize too. You really need events premium characters to get the job done. But not any premium characters, only those who helps collecting the items you need. Because i bought a premium character for this event, but he doesnt even help (the professor or whatever).
Then there's those who have a cheat version of tapped out on android... I almost envy them, but I love this game too much to try and cheat too.
I guess I'll just give up on events since logging in on a regular basis isn't rewarding anymore.
Yeah, you're right, we all have a work and a life that allows us to log in every 4 hours. I don't know why I complain. *insert eyes roll gif*
Perhaps you should quit.
Quit his/her job, quit TSTO, quit life...?
lol trolls everywhere
Yes, I'm convinced this is the issue. EA has moved to a model where those with all the premium characters breeze through the event. Those with none really have to grind hard. If you have a few, you will be somewhere in between. It's probably worth considering prioritizing buying characters (especially if you get a vault discount) to help with future events.
I feel like this is exactly the case, and honestly, I feel ok with it. As a player who has invested a ton of time AND money, it's nice to get a little back. Maybe it's just me.
