Any educational books I read for work I will read a hard copy book, so I can annotate and sticky the ideas I want to look at again. I can't think of the last time that I read a fiction book that wasn't on my kindle.
  • I prefer hard copy books to paper back. I don't like to read books on tablet form as I don't think it's the same maybe am old fashioned
  • i will never read a book on a tablet or a smart phone...that always annoyed the heck out of me....real books til the end!!!

  • I used to be for real books until the end...but then space became an issue. If I had room to store books for eventual re-reading, I would still be getting them that way. Unfortunately I had to switch to digital form, which isn't too bad since I can download apps for Barnes & Noble's nook or Amazon's Kindle to my phone or iPad and read everything there. If I had to purchase another device to read, then I probably would still be collecting real books, despite lack of space.

I read both real books and digital depending on whether I'm at home, on holiday etc. I definitely prefer real books though!
  • Before I ended up moving a few times, I had four large bookshelves, each double stacked with books. So I had a few. :D Unfortunately some I had purchased my brother or father stole and damaged, and most of the time never returned them. I would later find the damaged books my brother took at his place and he would tell me I personally gave it too him...which I never did, and since he always damages my stuff, I never loan him anything. I found out my father was the same way in damaging things he is loaned, so I have issues with anyone handling anything I own.

  • I ended up donating my books to charity shops. Once I read a book a couple of times I think it's not worth while keeping them. I did have a large collection but I moved house a few years back and don't have the room any more and didn't want to spend a long time selling them.
  • Real books all the way. Just finished Insomnia & starting Under The Dome in a few days. 1,000 plus pages. Woo hoo.

    Wow I never knew that.
  • Books! Books! Books! There is nothing like setting in an overstuffed chair, feet up...small dog in lap, in front of a fireplace, and opening a new book and breathing in the smell. Or an old book, and wondering about past people who have held the same book that you are about to share an adventure with.

I used to be a huge “dead tree” book person and, in fact, still own a embarrassingly large number of them, but space has become a consideration. Almost all books that I buy these days are digital unless they’re signed and/or limited editions.

I have 2 preferred methods of reading, 1) a comic book 2) a nice hardcover novel. Only way to read a book in my opinion is a hardcover

Since e-books cost as much as physical books anymore I'd go with real books. Wish e-books were less expensive. Physical books are better but I've read books on my phone and enjoyed it.

Cost depends on what you are reading. I get most of my books free or really cheap using different website deals. I had to stop picking books because I couldn't keep up with the amount I was selecting. I am sure that they aren't popular books, but I have found many that I enjoyed a lot.

According to a Pew Research Center study conducted in 2015, 26% of American adults reported that they hadn’t read a book in whole or in part in the previous year, whether in print, electronic, or audio form. The share of Americans who report not reading any books in the past 12 months is largely unchanged since 2012, but is slightly higher than in 2011, when the Center first began conducting surveys of book-reading habits. That year, 19% of adults reported not reading any books. Gallup reported that the number of such nonreaders back in 1978 was a mere 8%.

While I find the whole e-book versus paper book debate vaguely interesting an academic sense, it’s not one that I find all that viscerally engaging. What really captures my attention is the fact that I’m living in a society where a growing number of its citizens aren’t reading books in any form.
