Last Film you watched / Up Coming Movies

  • I'll start off by apologizing, when it comes to Batman i can not control my fandom, also was not aware of how to do the spoiler tag.

Two films i watched, Cars 3 and Despicable Me 3
Starting off with Despicable Me 3
Enjoyable, it is a child friendly film so its childish antics werent directed at an adult, however it did deliver its' fair share of laughs.
The first trailer, we are introduced to the new villain and show Gru in a bubblegum speedo with a giant diamond in his genitals, while Michael Jacksons "Bad" is playing in the background? Yeah all that happens within the first scenes.
Props to the makers of the trailer for creating a trailer that entices the viewer without divulging the rest of the film.....the other trailers..... they reveal too much plot, needless to say if you've seen all the trailers you can piece the general plot together, it is still quite fun nonetheless and Trey Parker steals every scene he's in, pun definitely intended. The best part would have to be the Retro feel of Trey Parker as a child actor turned villain, and a fan of South Park will be able to tell when Trey is on screen due to the voices used.If anything this reinforces my belief that most animated movies should employ Voice Actors over popular celebrities/actors, VAs just have more experience and can do most of the cast by themselves.

    Cars 3
I'm sorry but i will split this into two pieces, why i disliked it and why it was awesome.
    Why it was super Lame.
    For starters the female racer.
Actually she is the only reason i had an issue with the film, when we are introduced to her she often teases McQueen calling him old and referring him as her "Senior Project"This is after McQueen was in an accident and after months of recovery after recovering from very low self esteem (not cool, she was trying to motivate him, but well lets continue).
Her training regimen is aimed at "Newer Race cars", obviously Mcqueen has issues with it, but various restrictions such as a 5 mile limit on a treadmill exercise (he is a race car with top speeds exceeding 190 MPH) does tick him off quite a bit. Opting for old schools methods instead (Which work out by the way), she tags along. He spends a full day trying to show her how to race in beach sand, imagine that Rocky beach montage, except they take a full day just teaching Rocky to run on sand.
She eventually reveals that she didnt want to be a trainer in a Sob story/speech where she reveals that she did have a shot to be a racecar, but when the other racers intimidated her (and i quote) "She just left" (didnt do the race, just left).
Spoilers, mega spoilers ahead, if you dont want the movie ruined just avoid the next section entirely.

So when she WINS the Race, i felt like i was robbed, not of the money spent on a ticket, but a better ending. Throughout the movie McQueen trains her by accident while trying to TRAIN himself for the big comeback race, so while she did EARN the win, i did not feel she DESERVED the win.
    Her personality is also blegh.
You say you wanted to be a racer, but:
You dont have any actual experience racing (cant even drive in sand)
You dont understand the first thing about racing (most of her regimens rely on cutting edge technology done indoors) nor does she get the general lingo.
Ya quit your first and only shot at becoming a racer.
Why am i supposed to feel bad for you again? Why did you DESERVE to win again?
Because you really wanted it , but quit the first time and now rob your idol at a second chance? Really do hate when people say they idolize somebody, but dont really understand their idols.

    Why it was awesome:
    This sums it up:
    tumblr_nvo8fexFwf1u81ir6o6_250.gif
It begins exactly like the first movie, word for word, with a slight tweak at the end. An obvious example of his maturity having developed through the movies. It hits ya like a ton of bricks, it feels like the first movie except no jerk is in sight, that is until Storm rolls in.
You get the same feeling from Storm that we had from Lightning back in the first film, Rookie, Showboat, Jerkface. However he has the skills to pay the bills and does not change his ways making him look like a Class A jerk.

The whole thing, reminded me of an example my English Teacher once used, that point where you try to prove that you still got "it" and can often surpass your old self. He compared it to when Michael Jordan came out of retirement and was at his A Game, and then Kobe showed up, that was it.

You receive the same feeling from it, the cold splash of reality showing that no matter who you were in the past, at some point you will never be at the same level as the newer generation. It hurts, but that fact the he didnt give up, going as far as TRYING newer methods but those newer methods not working, then going Oldschool and that actually working. Wow.
It does in many ways feel like Rocky Balboa, but he is not that old, this wasnt him at his 40's maybe early to mid 30's story but not that second wind, that come back story that was portrayed.
This is only further shown by the results of his training, yes he does realize that at some point he will have to pass the torch and that he can get as much enjoyment from training as racing, but that final comeback never really shows up.

I saw a character who was a mature shadow of his former self, Lightning from Cars (1) would have gone the distance and tried to show up Storm (heck they might have even gotten along). Yes, he is wiser now, but his confidence went way down.
So when he changes places and lets his trainer take his place... i felt robbed.
It could have ended differently or it could have been something more emotional, perhaps he would have had no other choice, but he did have that choice, he could have won but he decided to give someone else a chance (which was nice but the whole thing has a bitter sweetness to it)

In the end he become her new Crew Chief and basically gives up a part of racing.
It was nice but i feel that if he would have won (on his own), and then decided to give her a shot (or his place) instead of continuing to race, the ending wouldve been a lot sweeter.

Watched Ghost in the Shell (2015) Japanese anime. Plot hard to follow, in the end, I still do not quite understand the storyline. When there are actions, it is quite good but other than that, a convoluted film

I watched Liam Neeson in a noirish film, A Walk Among the Tombstones, a 2014 release based on a Lawrence Block novel. The movie is pretty typical as far as plot elements are concerned.
Brooding ex-cop with a dark past now working as a P.I., etc., etc. There are no women of import in the cast — those that appear are pretty much relegated to serving as fodder for sadistic lunatics.
I’d probably give this film a thumbs down, but Neeson’s performance manages to elevate the material.

  • Let's see, I watched Okja yesterday. It was kind of funny at points but it makes you think about what your food goes through and gets quite serious at the end.

Also watched a movie called Sword Master (San Shao Ye De Jian). Either I was really tired or just not into it that much. It had some good fight scenes but there was very little of them.

I watched Kong : Skull Island(2017). As long as I can see King Kong I would like the movie. Had a good time in the movie. But felt that some of the dialogues are quite empty and meaningless. Other than that. It was a good movie for me

This is the last movie I saw, I liked it but did not love it. I had some problems with its continuity with the MCU, which I love.

Last film I watched at the cinema was Wonder Woman, I liked it!

Last films I watched at home were Train To Busan (Korean zombie film) and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, which I'm surprised I'd never seen before considering it's from the era of awesomeness! Both were good films for obviously different reasons!

I watched Disney’s live-action remake of 1991’s Beauty and the Beast. I was a huge fan of the original animated film, so I was a little surprised to discover that I didn’t find the new one as terrible as have many of the film’s naysayers would have us believe. I actually liked some of the script choices that amplified or altered character background and motivation. On the other hand I didn’t much care for the look of the CGI-dense film; and the singing, even with the talents of such luminaries as Audra MacDonald, often falls a bit short of that in original.

I enjoyed the live-action Beauty and the Beast, too. I wasn't even going to watch it, but I saw the opening scene and decided I'd give it a shot. I'd give it 4 stars.

Do I need to watch the animated beauty and the beast to have a preamble for the live action movie ?

No, you really don’t. In fact, having watched the 1991 animated version might actually diminish one’s prospects for enjoying this year’s live action version. It’s hard not compare the Watson version to that earlier one, which was at the least a minor masterpiece (my opinion, of course).

Ok Today I watched Get Out(2017). Very entertaining and unique story. In my view it is a must watch.

Also I continued on to watch Insidious 2. Really Enjoyed James Wan's style of horror movie making.

I’m finally caught up with Sherlock, having watched the remaining three episodes of Series 4. The first two episodes (“The Abominable Bride” and the “The Six Thatchers”) are a trifle weak, but “Thatchers” nicely sets up the third episode, “The Lying Detective”, which is one of the best of the series. The last episode, “The Final Problem”, may be the last we see of Cumberbatch and Freeman in these roles. If so, it’s a fairly fitting one — an interesting premise with some nice character development.
