I just realized it now that I need bart for the newest mini quest but i think he has been stuck there for awhile. I had bart tell a spooky story at the campfire. He is stuck there. There is no timer. I just sent Mulhouse to tell a story hoping it will fix it. I hope that he doesn't get stuck there too.

Try storing the camp fire to free them. If for some reason that doesn't work, you can store Bart's tree house and the Van Houten house to free them.
I'm having the same issues that DrKhumaloWin, JarJarVincs, KillTaker1, bperrero619, and Atzinator83 are reporting. Mine didn't start until 28 June and I contacted EA, did the troubleshooting, reopened the issue, they are passing up to the highers and counseled me to add my name to the list in the forums so that they can get a better feel for the number of affected accounts. Doesn't sound very widespread yet.
I had my panini press fully evolved- so frustrating to be sent back to 24hr cycle.
Having exactly the same problems with most if not all of these issues and it is VERY frustrating.
I'm collecting pennies from the fountain, my friend level was completed at 20 with all rewards still showing, but I'm now level 1 and collecting FP again. My Springfield heights shows no items,
i had 178 shovels! went to dig using 5, found treasure lost the rest. IRS is level 1 when it should be 9.
I've been in contact with EA and after 4 emails I was asked to keep EVERY character off a job,
so all waiting for something to do, then put the Town Hall in storage, come out, go in storage and replace Town Hall, should give access to top left problem. tried and hasn't worked. They have been accessing my game and are aware of the problems, but not so sure about working fixes yet.
Anything they provide me with regards a working fix i'll repost, but its a relief to know I'm not alone with this. Phew. My problems started 30th June with Gil offering me Duff Gardens which I've had for about a year.
Really looking forward to a fix as I've missed out on the Pirate Ship because of this.

I also had all old quests starting from valentines 2016 pop up and say the quest is over but you can still finish your last task and earn its prize.
I am stuck in the bowling quest right now.
I got my game fixed. They had to perform a rollback to before Gill arrived and the problems resolved.
Anyone in discussion with Ea that wants it sorting I suggest you ask them to follow what I got done.
It will mean you lose some stuff, cash earned or shovels, or characters bought, but it works.

Based on EA’s past history with bugs of this type, this is very unlikely.
Something weird happened to me after the last update:
1. The button to select the next person (top left) doesn't work anymore
2. The buildings in Springfield heights were reset, so I had to collect items again and pay to get access to all the jobs - however, the maximum storage is now 250, not 300
3. The tap radius (IRS) has been set to level 1, while my actual level (click on IRS Building is 6)
4. The redwood tree looks like level 1 now (I was one level before finishing it), the tasks also seem to be from level 1, but it says differently when I click on it
5. The money hill/mountain (Burns) has the same problem mentioned in 4
6. I can collect stars again (NASA or how they called it), that's from a really old event
I asked the EA help, and they gave me a list (what to do if there are problems in your town) and marked my question as solved (I assume they haven't read it at all). I followed the list, deleted the data, reinstalled the game, but nothing seems to work.
Has someone had a similar experience? How can I get EA to actually look at the account (the error seems to lie there) and not just give me standard answers? I cannot respond to the case sincwe it is 'solved' ...

Same problem (collecting coins from fountain, stars from NARA, not able to find characters by clicking on upper-left icon...) and with same response from EA - to post the problem here.
The first response was however if tried to "modify" the game ... Very, very disappointed. In my last reply to EA I sent link to this thread and asked about rollback. Now I wait for their response.
I got response from Customer Experience EA, that adviser created a bug report on my behalf and forwarded it to the game team. They need me (us - players) to have the bug issue in the game posted to forums, it is how the game team gathering feedback from customers.
I made some screenshots of problem - they are listed by previous users already.
1. Clicking on character does not work (for example clicking on Bart will not show Bart's location):
2. Fake Toll Booth and Penny Fountain give coins
3. The Burns' money mountain is lower
4. NARA - Space Training center gives stars
5. Storage in Furniture Shop, Coffee Shop, L.A. Body Works, John's Pharmaceuticals and Marketing Agency dropped to zero (0) [no screenshot]
6. Tire Fire gives "ribbons"
7. Friendship Level dropped to 1
8. Tap radius is lower [no screenshot]
I couldn't find my redwood tree - though I had it once.
Maybe there are other problems, that I didn't find/see right now.
Seeing people are having a lot of issues right now.. mine isnt as bad but was wondering if anyone else had this happen to them..
Was doing a little housekeeping today as Ive been doing alot of digging and collecting stuff I already have/dont really need (seriously I have enuff broken down washers/dryers to open a broken down laundromat O.O) and after I finished I checked my $ amount to see just how much I had gained..

In the end the game is running smoothly for me at the moment so considering the other problems Im reading about this is very minor
Only thing that really p*sses me off is Im working the Road to Riches thing and was getting close to making another 10Mil deposit
and yes I know .. but I like to have 100Mil in the bank just in case something comes up

I'm have the exact same problems. It started last week when Gill showed up. Numerous contacts with EA Help, and they finally said to post it here, because the developers watch the forums. I guess we have to wait until they decide it's a big enough problem. Makes me not want to play until they fix it.
