The recent split that lead to the creation of a new forum reminds me a lot of being a kid with divorced parents. The new forum is like the fun loving Dad that takes you to the circus on the weekend and the ea forum is like the mom that makes sure you eat your vegetables and know which cutlery to use when you go out for dinner. Both serve a purpose and are needed to get a complete upbringing. I just hope they remember that like any kid, my affections can be bought with lots of presents. Just saying.

I just bought you a new hover bike.
    Is there anyone out there?

I've seen all this with message boards before many times. People get on boards and pretty much claim turf, so to speak. They take the boards too personally and after awhile make demands on other members. They start establishing rules and try to enforce them despite the fact its not even theirs to begin with. In the end there's always some kind of rebellion or similar leading to a split, shut down or people leaving for good. I watched a board years ago of a famous musician who had such rabid fans they actually started to insult the musician's wife whereas the musician turned around and shut the board down reminding them who owned it in the first place.

    lol very well said op.

I would just add we will now be hearing our mother bash our father and our father bash our mother and all of us stuck in the middle.

Yup. And before that it was bulletin boards in the dial up days, and before that it was churches or community organizations.

Humans are clique driven and all to frequently can stoop to being petty and snobby :(

It's sad - I enjoyed many of the posters who have left, but there will be new people who might have felt intimated by the "old timers" who will eventually step up. Life goes on.

I dunno, I kinda see this place as going to boring old Aunt Edna's where I have to go to bed early with no dinner if I have an opinion or disagree about something....
