Same deal here. Built the Wiggum house, which leveled me up (prematurely, I think), played the donut game, set Ralph on his task. Came back to the game and now getting the loop. Force closing the app several times, restarting the iPad, nothing seems to work. This has been the 1st time I've seen this, I guess I've been lucky.

I think this was the trigger for me. I built the house, forgot about Ralph  and was in and out of my town several times last night. Then I set Ralph on the magnifying glass and when I went to log back in right before bed the game was hanging on loading. Drat!
Same thing happened to me... Harp freeze started just as I unlocked Ralph. I got the bonus level game at the same time and when I tapped on unlock for Ralph the harp freeze started. I've tried restarted and relogging several times with no luck
Got the same problem. It popped up almost 24 hours ago now. I'm playing on iPhone 4s, at least I was... Had just set Ralph on the first mission. My wife plays on the same setup as I am and she's playing just fine.

The origin login and data servers causing this are spread out across the world. The server that is causing your account, my account and everyone else's is different from the one your wife is connecting to. Due to server load balancing as well as to when you each signed up you may be on servers in California while she is connecting to servers in Florida. (Note I don't know where their server farms are just making an example with extreme distances).
This specific issue we are dealing with is a server side issue and not a local issue (local meaning your device, version, etc) thus there is nothing we can do but sit back and wait until they fix it.
The german version? Does it have the land of chocolate? Panzer tanks?
Indeed, and lots of sauerkraut deco that is stuffed in all people's mouths who can only speak one language and have no idea where the real land of chocolate is....
Awesome... And all the cop cars are BMWs...and the brown houses are over priced...
Thanks krackenit - your comments on this thread have been more informative than any Ive seen from EA before. At least i now understand what the problem is.
Any chance you could now go & knock on EA's door to see if you can fix it ?
I have been unable to play for over 48 hours now. I live in Australia and have an iPhone 4.
On Friday morning I downloaded the update and got in. Got the message up that said I'm now level 26, started to play and a minute later it crashed and have not been able to get in ever since. Yet it seems everyone else I know can play just fine
Very frustrated!!

Haha thanks. I make more than ea could pay me (just kidding). :-o
There could literally be about a 100 different causes for this and unfortunately we have to wait for them to fix it. I'm concerned they won't see the need to push out another update for us few not working and only push out a fix with the next major update. That's why it's very important we make our voice heard in the link elsie_d has in her post. They don't read these forums but they do manage their help desk site.
Solution above does not work. in a possibly related note, I have found other crashes have been triggered by an excess of 200 friend invites that are waiting to be dispositioned (accepted, rejected, etc). This would explain why you can log in as a guest and the crash will occur again once you log in with your user name even after reinstalling the app.
Another crash seems to occur if you log out of origin at the startup screen, then log in again and try to view your open invites. The server loses connection, and your invites fail to load. My next step in solving this crash for everyone involved would be to figure out a way to reject open invites and lower it to a smaller number (or removing them completely) WITHOUT having to log into the app. Possibly by logging into the origin website?
If anyone has any ideas how to complete this next step, please let us know.
Dom you have two options.
1. From the app when you get to the "tap this to continue" screen, log out of origin. Then click on the origin icon again to login. Once you are relogged in the origin app stays up and you can click on news and then invites to decline them thus removing them. I have done this about 15 times to remove all friend requests since I got the harp of death and only one time I was unable to get tot the invites page. Everyone's mileage may vary with this method but its generally viable.
2. You can go to the origin website and download their app to your windows machine (don't think it's available on a Mac but its been a few months since I have been to their site) then you can login and manage all items related to friends.

Thanks Krak! I was able to download the app and I was able to manage the friend requests as you have said. The reductions of the friend requests has eliminated the crashing portion of the friends management when logging into Origin, but unfortunately has not helped with the Harp crash upon login, so my theory is out the window and I am back at square one.
It appears that there is no real way to contact EA/Origin except for this forum so my next thought is that if enough people post the crashing issue on the "APP REVIEW" itself, maybe someone would pay attention as people that would otherwise download the app will see all the problems we are having and stay away.
Dom go back in this thread to elsie_d post and she has a link to their help desk where this is a top reported issue. Please add your issue so they can see it hitting a lot (albeit still a very small percentage of overall players) of people.
Also sorry for putting the suggestion of using the in game app as number 1 when you specifically asked for an alternate method. I was trying to be thorough and helpful to anyone that may read the post. Glad number 2 worked for you.
While its very frustrating to us I'm sure we all think that if there is an issue it should affect everyone and not just a select few. The reason behind this is that players are not on a single server. Accounts are spread out over clusters of data centers across the world. In these clusters are multiple databases of user accounts. So you can see there are many specific fail points in which origin has to track down to find a root cause and fix. But still there is no reason it should take this long to fix an issue like this. I have designed installed and managed these types of services for apps in the private sector for years and have had issues like this before. But if it took me as long as origin does to tack down and fix then my clients would have dropped me a long time ago.
Everyone with the issue keep reporting it here so there is documentation and hopefully ea sees this and cracks some skulls on their origin division to get this fixed.
This is excellent hypothesizing, krakenit. During the snowstorm in Springfield, I claimed an anonymous game under another account since I was frustrated with the continual crashing in my 1st Springfield. I've since created a 3rd account on the same iDevice. I can switch between the 2 newer accounts at will with no problems, but the haunted harp of Hades prevents my playing in my first. Same hardware configuration on my end, so the issues are on EA's side of the court.
Krakenit mentions the help desk in this thread, and I'd like to reiterate to PLEASE also post on the <a href="http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Simpsons-Tapped-Out/bd-p/The-Simpsons-Tapped-Out ">EA Answer HQ</a> forum. EA will see that and attempt a solution. You may click or tap "me too" to the 1st post in the topic that closely matches your issue and/or post your own reply and issue description.

Thanks for adding your testing. In an earlier post I was conveying the husband and wife could be sitting right next to each other and still be connecting to separate servers. So thanks for also proving its the actual user account driving the issue and not a local device issue.
Note I tried to respond to this about 15 minutes ago and the thread was gone. Then it magically showed back up. Thought modbot got to it and we were going to get banned. Haha
Also the help desk I keep referring to (as a generic term) is the answers.ea.com you keep linking to. Keep up the great work.

I visited the EA Answer HQ link and tried to post a message, the result was " an unexpected error has occurred...."
It doesn't inspire confidence when there help head quarters is not working properly.
