    Current Event...

The current special event is the Valentine's day event.
      Valentine's Card/Heart Collection & Regeneration Mechanics:
[li]Each character (that came with a building) has one "Valentine's Card" associated with them. [/li]
[li]When visiting friends, this Valentine's Card will appear on the building that the character came with (Bart's card is located on the Treehouse, Flander's card on the Flander's house, Skinner's card on the school, etc.)[/li]
[li]After a Valentine's Card has been tapped by a visiting friend, it is no longer available to be tapped by another friend....until....[/li]
[li]The visited friend must then "collect" the Valentine from the character in their town to regenerate the Valentine. Until the tapped Valentine's Card is collected, no more cards for that character will be available (there are exceptions, see FAQ below).[/li]
[li]After the visited friend collects the Valentine's Card, the card will regenerate and allow the next visitor to collect it, starting the process all over again.[/li]
[li]Characters DO NOT need to be on tasks to have a Valentine available. [/li]
[li]You DO NOT get a heart for every Valentine's Card you tap in a friends city.[/li]
[li]You DO get a heart for every Valentine's Card you collect in your city.[/li]
Basically, the more characters you have in your city, the more possible Valentine's Cards there are for your friends to collect. The more active you are in collecting your character's Valentine's in your own city, the easier it will be for friends to find available Valentine's Cards on your buildings. Visit your friends daily to give them hearts for helping you!

      FAQ:
      How do I get hearts?
You get hearts in two ways: 1) tapping Valentine's Cards when visiting friends and 2) collecting Valentine's Cards from your characters in your town after a friend visits and taps "Valentine's Card."

I'm not receiving hearts when I tap Valentine's Cards in my friends' cities. Wussup wit' dat?
You DO NOT get a heart from every Valentine's Card you tap in a friend's city. You can get 0, 1, 2, or 3 hearts. My initial testing (small sample size) has the "heart payout rate" at around 44% (down from 46%..BOOO!!!). Check <a href="http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9276801.page">here</a&gt; for results, or add your exact data to the conversation.

My friends don't have Valentine's Cards in their city. Why not?
This means your friend has not "collected" the tapped "Valentine's Cards" from other visits, thus the cards have not regenerated.

My friends don't have Valentine's Cards in their city, should I tap like normal and collect from buildings?
You can only get hearts from "Valentine's Cards", so tapping regular buildings works as it has in the past.

Should I collect taxes in my own city?
Yes, proceed as normal when collect payouts from buildings in your own city.

Do my characters need to be on tasks when friends visit?
No. Although it initially appeared that this was the case, it is NOT TRUE. The reason there are no "Valentine's Cards" in cities with all the characters wandering around task-less is because the user has not "collected" the Valentines, not because their characters aren't on a task. (pictures at the bottom of this post)

I'm getting multiple hearts when I tap on a character! Am I GOD?
There are a couple of possible explanations. First, when you initially enter a friend's city, you can often temporarily see "Valentine's Cards" (that have already been tapped) before they disappear. Many people can quickly tap these "entrance point" buildings. This will result in the character storing more than one heart. Second, there is a lag time between when a friend taps a Valentine Card, and when the Valentine Card shows up in the visited user's city. RSommons observed a lag time of about 42 seconds. So, if multiple friends visit within 42 seconds of each other and tap the same available Valentine's Card, this could also result in characters storing extra hearts.

How do I be a good friend?
Collect Valentine's from your characters as much as possible so the cards can regenerate and the next visitor can give you more hearts! Visit your friends daily and give them hearts!

How do I increase my chances of getting more hearts?
If you aren't as active, or don't have many characters yet, place your buildings that came with characters on the "entrance point" of your city. This will allow some "quick tapping" users to give your characters multiple hearts, even after being previously tapped by other friends.

Do characters inside buildings/on tasks/etc increase the "heart payout rate?"
None of us really know at this point. There doesn't appear to be any actual link to any of these variables, but it's not impossible that these factors could increase/decrease the "heart rate payout."

What can I do with extra hearts?
We don't know yet if hearts will be able to purchase extra items at the end of the update (like the Santa Stockings in XMAS). You can sell your items that you pay hearts for. Dcline414 did the math, and it comes out to $10 and 1XP (plus bonus multipliers) for every heart you use to buy items. For example, you can use 100 hearts to buy an "I Choo-Choo-Choose You" train. Buying the train gives you 100 XP, and you can then sell the train for $1,000. Remember, we don't know what will happen at the end of the event, but this is one possible solution that's better than just losing our hearts, IF it comes to that.

      How do Bonus Levels work?
If you have reached level 25, there are now "Bonus Levels." After completing a Bonus Level, you are given a scratch off game to try and obtain 3 donuts. If you get 1 or 2 donuts, you have the choice of spending $50,000 to try for the 3 donuts. I believe you can do this a 2nd time if you still didn't get the 3 donuts. You ONLY get 3 donuts, though, you don't get ALL of the donuts you've scratched off.
      Level 1: ~126,000 XP
Level 2: 151,200 XP (thanks dcline!)
      Level 3: 181,440 XP

      Level 8: 451,478 XP
      Level 9: 541,773 XP
      Level 10: 650,127 XP

      The Complete Walkthrough
      <HR>
      Early Gameplay:
It's hard to say which tasks lead to unlocking buildings early on, so I'll lay out my step-by-step progress through the initial stages. Some steps may be different for everyone. Just try to keep your characters on similar length tasks when possible. Early in the game, one character can have multiple quests, so don't rush to immediately send those characters out on long quests. Always immediately complete the non-character quests: decorations, pavement, water, etc.

      1. Complete Tutorial (Please note that you DON'T have to use Donuts for the initial speedups. If you want, you can just wait the tasks out and save 2 or 4 donuts!) Get friends <a href="http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/8959875.page">here</a&gt; or <a href="http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/8929166.page">here!</a&gt; (Send invites for best results, don't just post your name.)
      2. Complete all short prompted quests (45 seconds, 3 minutes, etc) (Don't do any 1,4,8 hour prompted quests yet)
      3. While Homer is playing with MyPad, tap him repeatedly. You will unlock the Jebediah Springfield Statue and 10 donuts after 10 taps!
      4. Apu should eventually prompt the building of Cletus' Farm ($1,200 - 1 hour). Build it then send all characters on 1 hour tasks so everything finishes in 1 hour.
      5. Apu & Cletus will interact to prompt the Tomacco challenge. Plant Tomacco and send all characters on 1 hour tasks.
      6. Lisa will prompt the building of the Purple House ($1,200 - 4 hours) after step 5. Build the house. Ned and Lisa should then interact and lead to step 7.
      7. Lisa babysit Rodd & Todd (8 hours). Homer oversleep for nap (6 hours). Do any other uncompleted character quests at this point.
      8. After Homer finishes his power nap, he prompts the building of the Krusty Burger ($2,600 - 12 hours). Keep Homer free as the build finishes. Do any other uncompleted character quests at this point.
      9. Homer eat @ Krusty after build finishes (30 mins).
      10. Lisa build the Blue House ($1,800 - 12 hours). Complete any uncompleted character quests.
      11. Lisa and Homer interact and build the Van Houten House ($3,800 - 24 hours). Complete any uncompleted character quests. (Homer 24 hour Monkey Trauma Marathon)
      12. After build, send Milhouse & Lisa to Kwik-E Mart (60 mins), Ned emergency Bible Study (8 hours), Krusty Promote New Product (8 hours)
      13. Build Pink House ($3,400 - 24 hours) after Milhouse & Lisa finish Kwik-E Mart visit.

(I think both of these need to be completed before Marge will start the challenge to build Jake's Unisex Hair Palace, but I'm not 100% sure of this as Marge's challenges often seem to be random. Either way, keep Marge free as Homer finishes.)
      <HR>

Premium character related quest lines will go here...

I'll hopefully have this done by the end of the month, but we will see how it plays out. If anyone knows any premium character questlines and would like to share them, please do! I have Shauna's for now.

      Done with reservations. :D

I'll finish this up as the week progresses.

Would love any input or suggestions from people about formatting it and the layout. I want to make it as user friendly as possible!

I don't think going level by level will work out well since the buildings aren't truly tied to the levels. Going in order of the progression, as it is, would be best. We have enough questions of "I'm at level X and can't build Y" already.

Good point. I may include the level required, though, just in case some people in the lower levels do get ahead, so to speak. I don't know if I've ever seen this happen.

Awesome guide. People should refer to this first before posting that they can progress.

There's already an updated walk through stickied above.. why make an exact copy! Just fueling the fire of people making un-needed threads just like the clowns that keep throwing their user name asking people to add them lists!

The reason for a new thread is that the person who created the stickied one has been banned by EA. Therefore his post can no longer be edited and will end up being a jumbled mess.

      Thanks Blandy. Explain it perfectly.

And, I'd like to add, Scholes, if you had read before posting and attacking me, you would have know why I made the thread since I make it perfectly clear in the first post.

Please don't turn this into a "add me" thread folks. The OP did some great work here.

First, thanks to OP and the banned original OP (OOP?) for making and now remaking this thread. It's proving invaluable in recreating my vanished Springfield.

Second, I'm in the middle of the quest for Willie's Shack. It happened a bit differently than the guide. Part 2 was not triggered until part 1 was completed, and, once I sent Lisa and Milhouse to school, part 3 was triggered. Here's how it's gone for me (assuming it finishes the same):

      Willie's Shack - $12,000
There are 4 challenges for building Willie's Shack:
      1. Skinner crossing guard (4 hours) (Schoolhouse Crock Pt. 1) (Keep Lisa & Milhouse free as Skinner finishes)
      2. Lisa & Milhouse go to school (6 hours)
      3. Skinner monitor halls (12 hours) (Schoolhouse Crock Pt. 3) (available after you SEND Lisa & Milhouse for school quest)
      4. Build Willie's Shack (Schoolhouse Crock Pt. 4)
      5. Willie wax floors (24 hours) (keep Apu, Homer & Lisa free as Willie finishes) (Schoolhouse Crock Pt. 5)
