All joking aside, Derek, I'm very glad that you have shown us all the error of the "regulars" ways. All the life that they contributed to the board was simply inappropriate. This place should be an arrid wasteland of add me posts like the facebook page is.
And, I mean, sure, these so-called regulars did answer questions and provide good examples (to be copied) but they also committed the cardinal sin of goofing around. That is just not right. The internet is a serious place, for serious business only. None of this playing around.
I am truly glad that it took someone who lurked for a full year on this board to set straight all of those people who were constantly posting on it, forcing its downward slide to **** and Gomorrah levels of obscenity.
I've been coming to these forums for a while now, posted a bit, mainly for quest help, SS for inspiration, troubleshooting, etc.
It's a pretty good forum (I'll admit up front I'm not one for the whole "online community" thing, getting to know folks, etc.) but it all comes down to one thing:
Consistent, visible moderation.
I understand the frustration people feel when the front page starts to fill up with add me posts. Honestly, it's a necessary topic (all my neighbors came from these boards) but its a consistent enough need to warrant its own board. That, with strong but polite moderation (moving threads vs. deleting them) would help.
Having an off topic area. Some people like to post a lot, maybe not always about the game. Some people like to socialize, again outside of game related topics. Some folks like attention for attention's sake. Nothing wrong with that it just needs to have a good home.
Better stickies. 60 free donuts? No longer relevant... Remove. Strong user community content... Add it.
I've been to the new forums, they're not bad. If they get past the "old forum bashing" stage they could be fun. Until then I'll just do what I always do... Look for the information relevant to me, ignore the rest.
So are we supposed to just sit back and take this abuse? There have been numerous threads in the past days whose sole intention is to throw certain in the mud. We have helped this forum so much and this is our thanks for it.
We are not the wrongs making numerous threads under newly created accounts bashing people. We are defending ourselves and not hiding under an alternate username
A troll, most commonly encountered on the internet, is any person who purposely causes controversy in a web community (by posting offensive and crude comments or provides advice) and disrupts * for his own amusement to prove how extremely corrupt our society is.
To the OP, good post. You are feeling like most of us are. You noticed that you brought out some of the haters. My advise, ignore them. They will go away.
I wish their was a thumbs up option. I also wish their was a ignore option for other people.

Ironically, there is a thumbs up option at the other forum.
Is this because Peru left you high and dry the other night?
The way you're all jumping on him doesn't help the reputation he's labelled you with, although I'll excuse some of you as he's directly insulting you but some seem to be getting defensive for no reason. I don't care that much about this forum, doesn't bother me if any of you stay or if any of you go, I'm just here for the helpful stuff. If I wanted to watch a drama unfold I'd stick to watching my soap operas.
Now, you may all commence "dissing" me for agreeing with the OP, especially as I have a low post count and a recent enough join date, we all know that's the sign of the devil reincarnated! Good riddance.
Well, if this is the kind of garbage you would like to read on this forum, by all means support this idiot. I for one thought this was a place to discuss the game. I think this should be the new norm now. Personal attacks are way more fun. Derek, please keep posting. I think you add a lot of value here.
No need for another forum. It is just a waist of time.
I get more info from EA on Facebook then I do here about the game. At least here the forums are ran by the company who makes the game, not the people who threw a fit and left.

It is pretty obvious that this forum is not run by anybody, or these personal attack threads would not make it to the board. If you really get more out of the Facebook page, why are you posting here?
EA posts updates on their Facebook TSTO page more then they do here.
As for "It is pretty obvious that this forum is not run by anybody, or these personal attack threads would not make it to the board"
Then why all the bans? Why all the threads deleted as needed? Just because you do not see a EA person moderating the forum does not mean he/she is not here.
Big brother is watching.... but quietly in the bushes.

**** If they were watching, this thread would have been deleted a long time ago. They sleep in the bushes and come out once a month to promote people.

Obviously, the folks who left thought that there was a reason to leave. Probably because the forum run by the company was a real "waist" of time.
Your argument is a strange one. You value the forum here, but decry the fact that you get more information from the facebook page. Were this a well run forum, the mods working for EA would be providing the same info to people here. Instead, its posters who need to migrate the information. Given that there are folks out there who avoid facebook like the plague (hi!), I was always happy that they did.
If you've ever looked at their help desk, you'll note that EA directs people here to resolve their problems. In theory, that's a great idea. In practice, since there are no mods here, its all guessing and speculation by users. A good mod presence could have solved so many problems that this forum had. Instead, they went heavy handed when faced with a little criticism and a significant number of regulars left.
You can call us trolls all you want. Some of the people who left are legitimately trolls. And some posters who are not trolls are now coming back here to poach and troll a little on stupid uninformed threads like one.
Long story short, enjoy your board. I hope that all of you attacking those who left will become truly helpful. I doubt it though.

You flag a post and they get to work. Stick around, when your posts starts getting deleted without notice and they are written without malice, perhaps then you will realize what is going on.
Let me give you an example. Do you remember petergeenen's panoramic thread, well, the original one was deleted without notice. This kind soul started another thread and it got deleted as well. It took him 3 tries before it was successful. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong)
So tell me, since you seem like you're in the know, why is this happening? Is this moderation at work?
Also, what will your reaction be when your posts(whatever it is, asking questions or trying to help somebody) is being deleted? Will you get angry? Would you not create a post and talk about it?
If a post of mine gets deleted, there must be a reason for it. Will I get mad? The simple answer is no. No reason to get mad over something like that.
If I get upset with EA as bad as some here has, I will just quit playing the game.
You may not understand, but the people who moderate these boards have a guideline on what EA wants. I personally have no idea what the guideline is. But so far this is how EA wants to run the boards.

Avoid extremism... Stick to the creamy middle.
"The only winning move is not to play."
.......And let the thread fade away.

Fair point. It would be good to keep topics related to the game though.
Where's a like button when I need one! and yes when I read that I totally heard it in an 80s computer voice
It's ironic that you post about irony.....oh wait, the irony, of the irony, of the irony, of the irony, of the irony.......
