So tell me, since you seem like you're in the know, why is this happening? Is this moderation at work?

Also, what will your reaction be when your posts(whatever it is, asking questions or trying to help somebody) is being deleted? Will you get angry? Would you not create a post and talk about it?

C'mon with the stability of TSTO you really think it is not in the realm that the MB isn't that stable either. ;)

Seriously though. This MB is like EVERY MB I have ever been on. You will ALWAYS find a group of "regulars" that have met on a MB and "hit it off" So they start their own threads and have their own jokes. Then someone gets their undies in a bunch and then there is a fallout and then rinse and repeat... I like the MB. I hate that I am too dumb or don't have the power to fix quotes or post an Av, but Meh.... I'll survive...

We now seem to be going around in circles with this. Why not now just put it to bed? We are arguing about an issue that has aleady been solved. When I looked at this forum this morning all threads like this had disappeared and it seemed we had moved on. OP for their own personal reasons has stirred it all up again. Members of the other forum are less likely to post here if they are not provoked. I think everyone by now must have had their say and all that were doing is brewing up more ill feeling. So again, let's give it a rest and move on.

"Long story short, enjoy your board. I hope that all of you attacking those who left will become truly helpful. I doubt it though. "

This is not my board. I do not own it. We can all be replaced. From the most knowledgeable poster to the brand new newb. To believe otherwise is foolish. The only reason I shoved myself into discussions like this is to show people that a small group does not and should not run these boards. I have seen to may forums like this get over-run by children with a keyboard. They believe they can do and say anything they wish due to their post count numbers.

Now mind you there are some VERY helpful old timers here. The problem are those people who type foul things to others who may be asking a question. They make others shy away. 90% of their posts hold no merit. Yet they expect others to hold them on a soap box.

First, let me say that Ms. Spiffshine has been wrongly accused in this tirade. She is well liked, and I have not seen her engage in any activity on this board that I would consider rude or demeaning. That having been said, it's disingenuous for those that left to act as if this forum didn't have problems...

Secondly, I am a member of both boards. I see massive potential in a board that is operated/controlled by players of the game. I posted a thread over there with a couple of suggestion on things that could be make it pretty engaging. At last check It had already begun the tumble into obscurity because the people I wanted to see it most (the mods/admins) are ironically back over here. Lol. But in all seriousness, you can't serve two masters...

Finally, I think this is going to create an interesting experiment. How will the folks who left this site to create their own deal with users when/if they begin to act as they did on this unmoderated forum? And if they find such actions (thread derailment, turning every thread into a back and forth conversation between a handful of posters, chastising newcomers, post-count ****) a detriment to their forum, why were they unable to moderate themselves while here? Will they admonish, suspend, or banish offenders?

In the end I hope they persevere and find suitable answers to these questions, but I feel that in the end they will realize that the new board will require too much work for them not to be getting paid for its maintenance.

That's my point. I know it's unstable. But in this case, there isn't much moderation, from what I've seen, usually posts/threads that have been flagged get deleted (I've flagged a couple of posts and seen them disappear). OR automatic deletion from too many links.

Same thing with the 'regulars' part. That is my point. In this very case, the thing that got people's undies in a bunch is exactly the weird moderation that's going on. Posts/threads are getting deleted without a second look.

The reason why I'm asking all these is because I'm very sure he/she can't answer any of the questions I've posed. If I'm proven wrong, I'll gladly accept it.

BTW, you need to be a level 2 to be able to use codes around here. There is no qualification as to how you qualify for a level 2. You just need to wait till the 22 of every month. It's an automated promotion.

I'm on the good list! Thank you dark stranger :)

Declaring my interest - I'm an active poster (again) on the other forum. I love it. I won't go into details here, I can see this thread is getting a little tense, but I may write up my experiences in another thread. It won't be tonight, and I might decide against it in the end for fear of provoking, but heck, everyman and his dog is currently doing it so maybe it's my turn.

    Good vibes to all. :)

I've been coming to these forums for a while now, posted a bit, mainly for quest help, SS for inspiration, troubleshooting, etc.

It's a pretty good forum (I'll admit up front I'm not one for the whole "online community" thing, getting to know folks, etc.) but it all comes down to one thing:

    Consistent, visible moderation.

I understand the frustration people feel when the front page starts to fill up with add me posts. Honestly, it's a necessary topic (all my neighbors came from these boards) but its a consistent enough need to warrant its own board. That, with strong but polite moderation (moving threads vs. deleting them) would help.

Having an off topic area. Some people like to post a lot, maybe not always about the game. Some people like to socialize, again outside of game related topics. Some folks like attention for attention's sake. Nothing wrong with that it just needs to have a good home.

Better stickies. 60 free donuts? No longer relevant... Remove. Strong user community content... Add it.

I've been to the new forums, they're not bad. If they get past the "old forum bashing" stage they could be fun. Until then I'll just do what I always do... Look for the information relevant to me, ignore the rest.

Avoid extremism... Stick to the creamy middle.

Excellent post, much better than I could have expressed it.

One of the great things about the new, user-run forum is that it is indeed much better organized, so that things get stickied in a timely fashion when appropriate, and there are separate sections for off-topic banter and add-me threads. And, like this one, it's open to anyone who wants to sign up. Somebody else mentioned recently that some of EA's other message boards seem to be much more actively moderated... I'm not sure why TSTO fell through the cracks.

I agree that there have been some obnoxious characters on these boards, as there will always be on pretty much every internet message board. But many, many of the regulars here are good citizens and nice folks. In particular, I wanted to say that, as far as I know, Spiffshine has always been friendly, gracious, and helpful to newcomers.

I responded to your thread over there.

Also, I think the new place will be different than here because we have different areas for people to post on. I don't think threads made in the game section will be derailed like they were here. I created the new forum so that we could have more organization. There was no structure on this board, now we have that.

Ok, so you call the regulars here trolls yet you don't mention raemel, you know, the guy who types in random letters and makes spam threads that doesn't even have any words? Exactly. Also you call the regulars here "noobs"? You do realize that "noob" means "newbie" which is a new player or poster. Also "you" is not spelled "ya".

It is very strange that a so-called new member (the OP) writes a post defaming and shaming fellow members here as trolls (check the TOS) - when fellow members come to their defence, they are also deemed trolls and spammers by some members.

It is clear as day that the original post was intended to incite and inflame (check the TOS), the OP must feel he got the replies that he so desired. One cannot expect the original post to be intended for any other reason. That I bring into question.

I am on both boards - which means I am a member here and wish to be treated here and on any forum within the TOS by all members. It is correct that comments about this board are made on the other forum (and visa versa). I ask anyone to travel over there to see the comments made. Today they have been about this churlish and inflammatory post. Other than that there are thousands of posts on a well structured forum about everything and anything else - about the game and off topic.

Defence of this EA forum is right when it is due - but I can assure all that these forums are not moderated efficiently or correctly. I have run forums for over ten years and I recognise an auto-moderated forum when I see one. Enough flags on a post or thread and that will disappear - old posts and threads will disappear - like the stunning Panoramic thread. I would say that barely 1% of moderation here is completed by a human being. This is not way to run any forum as it leads to spamming, trolls, insults, divides and no structure. This is simply the plain facts.

What is the solution? To simply see this place and any forum dedicated to the game as a pool of information, a place to meet and chat and to find friends. Forget that there are two forums, who left, who stayed - this is the nature of the forum beast and happens all over the internet. Historically, a group of members leave because of the way it is run - not because of any clique, trolls or spammers. Good forums retain their members simply because they are structurally well run and well moderated, so cliques do not happen and trolling and spamming is controlled.

You will note that I am a bit of a lurker here and have been for some time - I do not get embroiled in forum wars or insults. But it maddens me that people are so asinine to make a meal out of people wanting to try something themselves, to make enjoying this game more meaningful and fun for them. And then open it to all who may enjoy it too.

The 'them and us' mentality is only real if that is what you wish to believe. It doesn't really exist. This is not reality - it is simply a message board. It is just a site where we all try to make a place for ourselves, and, who post where is immaterial and a waste of ones energy. What undeniably matters is that what we do and say, we do with dignity and kindness. Forums really are not worth the effort to get upset about looking over the fence to see whose grass is greener.

This is what i have been constantly saying I have no idea where this clique group idea came from but it has never been true anyone is free to talk in any forum, in any thread, to the op and any1 else who wants to carry this on, your only making it worse by wanting to prove there is a group different than you. It does not make sense if you dislike these players so much why keep bringing it up? Why take the time to make this thread, your just making this a bigger deal than it is by continually talking about it.
