Springfield Re-re-build
There are some parts of my Springfield that I really like and am proud of how they're put together - whether due to the visual quality, the comedic value, the relative accuracy to the show, or whatever - but there are other parts where were quite blatantly shoved in due to lack of space and/or time at the point of getting it (usually events) so I'm now seriously thinking about a rebuild...what's stopping me is the abject horror at how long it's going to take; especially the decorations.
So my question is this - who out there took the time, late in the game, to do a complete rebuild of their city; how long did it take, and were you happy with having done so as a result - whether due to an improvement of the visual appeal or maybe making it more efficient (e.g. grouping all the buildings involved in 4-hr tasks together)?
Alternatively have people done large-scale, but partial, rebuilds only, and how difficult did you find it to fit around existing parts?

- Wait till THOH
That way if any new land comes in you can implement it, instead of doing it now and then having a vacant row of land you can't really do much with. Also means that you can see/implement any new items that are in this event
- Screenshot current parts of your town that you are happy with so you can replicate it after the nuke. at the moment that max zoom glitch will definitely help
- Write down parts of your town that you are somewhat happy with but have items sitting elsewhere/storage that you want to incorporate
- For parts you aren't happy with (or are unsure how to build) then check places like the Showcase section or other sites for ideas. save those links
Hope that helps
I've nuked SF twice and KL once (both before we could move a large section at a time) and it took freaking forever to redo it. Can you nuke Krustyland and see how you feel about that? My KL is completely finished till we get new content because I nuked and redesigned. My SF will never be nuked again because I have too much I'm happy with. When a section is beyond hope and I need to completely redo it, I store stuff or move it to an empty area and put it back better.
If you nuke, take screen shots first! When I've done nuked, it's on a Friday night so that I have the weekend to get stuff sorted out. I did roads first, followed by all characters not associated with a building or object (so I could start earning some currency), then what I wanted in the center of town -a park for Springfield. I know what I wanted in all four corners, so that was next. And then I started building out from there. Think buildings first and then decorate after.
I also have a decent sized area that I leave empty so current even items have a landing spot. When the event is over, I incorporate the new stuff into my town or I store it. This helps prevent me from cramming stuff. And now I'm feeling inspired to work on my town. I have a few areas that need some attention.
Good luck!
Treehouse of Horrors - the annual Halloween event which tends to be one of, if not the best event of the year
Thanks for the quick reply. Do these events require donuts? I only have 4 at the moment.
No events REQUIRE donuts - and they are usually quite finish-able without any premium characters, so long as you're able to get back on regularly to refresh jobs because they typically require heavy grinding.
All the events are much the same - vague storyline, main cast characters get costumes (either unlocked or purchased) a bunch of new buildings/decorations and multiple currencies as the event goes on.
Treehouse of Horrors just tends to be that much better than the others.
Sounds fun! I'll read up on that one.
DO NOT NUKE!
I've seen too many good neighbors who nuked, started to rebuild, then just up and quit playing. Redesign section by section. Try NOT to store anything, especially decorations. Buildings are fairly easy to find in inventory, decos not so much. Be careful which buildings you store, characters have been known to disappear.
