gone for 2 years?

hi, so i was a frequent player like 2-3 years ago, i stopped playing at around level 50...
started playing last month, for some reason I had 2.000.000.000 dollars or really close to that.. how did that happen? what events did I miss?

i'm now level 101 btw.. almost done with burns' money pile, done with road to riches, bought all the expansions + the new ones and i still have 1.350.000.000 to spare
can anyone tell me what sort of events happened while I was gone?
