You guys...

Prev1
As a long time player I've read a lot of posts in this forum asking for innovation and new things. But when EA actually does something different.. well, you start to make posts about keep things in the old way. Happened last year in Christmas and is happening this Halloween. "Kids should be trick or treating" "Christmas must have Santa" and stuff like that. Seems like you guys are "Holiday fundamentalists".

I know this sounds like just criticism, but c'mon, last year Christmas and this THOH have some nice stuff, let's appreciate what we have instead of what we haven't.

  • Okay while I respect everyone's opinion, a reason exists for this.

It's visible in our reboots, and our sequels.
It is visible in our programs and TV shows.

Look at prequels, such as the Star Wars franchise. The prequels are considered trash (with certain in between stuff being considered cool), the sequels are held in a regard equivalent to the originals, reason (my opinion) is because it is so similar to the original (with enough tweeks to be considered new).

Then we have reboots, the new Ghostbusters is a perfect example, I have not seen it but generally have heard the same thing Kate McKinnon was funny, not as good as the original etc. I share the same opinion as many, I would have preferred a sequel instead of a reboot mainly because of the main cast as I enjoyed the original actors greatly (Egons actor being dead is upsetting), However had they followed the general idea of the videogames spawned in between the 2nd film and the reboot they may have had the opportunity to use the old +new cast. As the videogame was about the original cast hiring new recruits, etc.

Friends was around for many years, it's cast remaining the same and few large changes existing. Yes they hooked up with each other, had kids, got married (Ross) etc, but viewership did not decline.

Look at Two and a half men.

Once Charlie Sheen was killed off, things went downhill fast.
I don't condone his actions, but his character did make the show watchable, killing him off was not the smartest idea and it showed.
A similar thing happened with Teen Titans, great show, but then it got canned and revived as Teen Titans Go. **** show. Seriously, the first episode was them questing for a good damn sandwich, I **** you not.

    What do we learn?
    Fry's lesson from Futurama.

But that's not why people watch TV. Clever things make people feel stupid, and unexpected things make them feel scared

It was just a matter of knowing the secret of all television: at the end of the episode, everything is back to normal.

We go back to the pagan event, for many it was a big swing and a miss. For me? A large amount of items are in my town, minus certain items of course.

Yet we fall into the same cycle, we know what we like and we rarely stray from it. However and I need to emphasize this, a middle ground exists.
I call it the Pixar Participle.
If the film is good as a standalone, and works within the series, that's Pixar levels of good writing, the animation lends itself to a whole other category, the Easter eggs, the commentary, hidden jokes etc.
However when applied to a game we have a different reality. A standalone event can be done at any moment of the year.

For a holiday event, people tend to want something holiday related.

That's just my Two Tacos and a Soda pop.

I like it, first time we have TIME as longtime player to collect because I almost have all the lvl prizes I can concentrate to have many walls and towers.
If it's to hard people complain if it's easier they complain too.
Well I like it I just don't like characters or skins you have to buy instead off hardcore play and deserve **** I survive and you can't have it all
Case you don't know I m brickevd408 apperently I m login with my other acc lol
  • Yeah... ^
  • Well because I allready have all prizes from events before I can concentrate moving stuff to fill up the 2 strokes off land instead off play hardcore to get all prises.
    Just mine two cents ^^
  • Fair point..

I've been quietly happy about the fact this has been an 'easy' event, no premium characters bought, so just Bart, Lisa and Milhouse to use and yet I've finished Act 1 with days to spare..

It has made me feel a lot better about playing the game and not having the usual event procedure where I'm logging in religiously and stressing about trying to find a minute of time at work to log in and reset event tasks, which has become increasingly difficult recently and will only get worse as the festive season approaches..

So yeah.. despite already owning half the craftables, it's already been a good event for me, a building where all my kids have an 8hr task was a nice surprise and appreciated..

@someonewashere .. Next time you post, don't sit on the fence, tell us what you really think, huh!..
  • I know I talk alot at times.

When I do, it's because I feel strongly, and want to provide solid evidence to explain my points.

Otherwise I'll post a Gif and that's it.

However you don't want to know what I really think. I've played games from small companies where the games staff will chime in on the forums and discuss things, they listen and often implement gamers ideas. I've also played the opposite side of the spectrum, a game where a guy recounts his sensual escapades that are very inappropriate, games where spammers make up 85% of the games "players", where players post **** on the forums as a from of protest. Then banning everyone, especially those players who did nothing wrong and instead went on to the companies other gaming forums to ask for help.
I honestly enjoy this game and its community, and hope it never devolves into the latter Company.

    My opinion?

    Event needs more penguins.

This could be another case of 'banter' not translating well in text form again.. it was said with a smile and suspect you know that anyway...

As someone who has myself been prone to a couple of long posts on here, I get it and wasn't being condescending, I do want to know what you really think, I like the thoughts and in-depth analysis of others, hence why i seemed to have latched onto here and enjoy this forum as well...

And whilst I tolerate gifs, one of the reasons I came off Facebook is because people stopped talking and explaining things and just posted memes all the time and constant ugly pictures with 'Tag (name)' on them... plus it's evil, been the cause of more conflict and anger around people I know than anything I've ever encountered in life...

    Cue the retorts...

Oh yeah I knew what you meant, I simply mean the following: you honestly don't want to know what I think about EA. Given the gaming experience I've had, yeah. I looked into that last example and can find almost no record of that event even happening, but it did happen, I was there and saw some amazingly **** pictures posted on the forums that day, for a company to sweep that under the rug and make the internet basically forget it ever happened? I'm impressed, but I can also talk about it all day, something I'd rather not do as I have tracked various people who also remember it (Google cache helps a lot).

However the detective work gets too lengthy.
And much like my theory on the excavation grid in the time traveling event, may lead to dead ends or bear little fruit.

I agree. and those specific events were holiday related: Christmas, as we know it, is a combination of pagan elements (Rome's Saturnalia, Mithraism and so on) and this THOH is based in Wiz Kids from THOH XII and in "The Haw-Hawed Couple".

I can never get my wife off the phone costing me a fortune, she loves talking, I’ve known her talk on the phone for nearly 4 hours. That’s the way she is, a very sociable person. Me? well less than two minutes is the most I’m on the phone with anyone.

People still use phones for talking??

To us, the older generation, yes... Very frustrating when you try to ring your daughter and keep getting cut off only to have a call back five minutes later explaining how she was trying to take a shot in 8-ball pool and I was interrupting .... pfft!
  • The criticism of events, both major and minor, just show people think it could be better.

Halloween is something the Simpsons has been known for. The THOH episodes are special to fans, and the early episodes used to come with tongue in cheek warnings from Marge with clever or genuinely 'scary' (okay, not actually scary.. but it had a darker or spooky element). So to see them using a Harry Potter parody from a weak later season is a miss for most who expected more - and know there is the content for a stronger event. Harry Potter is neither classic Simpsons nor at the peak of its popularity, so you just wonder why when there is a mine of material they could use and if it was a 'Magic' theme they were going for then why not another time as the Angelica Button stuff has been referenced many times and instead - as I don't like to criticise without offering alternatives - develop the Island of Dr Hibbert which could be far more than a single item sitting in the sea.

The Pagan stuff was a bit of a miss, too, because part of it was released before the episode it featured in was aired which was confusing at first and disappointing when that turned out to be it after previous Christmas events with presents and elves. I doubt the episode was memorable, either.

I loved the Pagan event, thus why I kept my entire Pagan town a permanent area in my town. And I can't really complain about this event. Other than I had to use donuts to get all the crafting items since It was impossible for me to get currency with me working. I would have never gotten everything by the time the event ended. And that's a fact. Other than having to use donuts for the craftebles. I like the buildings and monster characters. Everyone on Reddit is bashing the Burns Dragon big time....and I'm like wow people calm down.....and there is speculation that the monsters may or may not have tasks after the event. And others say they may be confirmed because of what the files say in the game. And I do miss the green river color I admit....and the falling leaves. Maybe they got rid of the falling leaves and clouds due to the monster battles? All the animations happening at once? Maybe they worried about lag or the game crashing on players.....

Don't increase the Item Limit? Then I don't play. Period.
