In the Settings for both your original device and the iPhone5 go to General > Auto-Lock > Set to Never
Plug the device into the electrical adapter so you won't run out of batteries.
If on the original device you start the game and after 15 minutes the game just crashes after playing the harp sound then you need another device that will work like an iPhone 5.
If you are playing anonymously, you do need to create an Origin account on your original device. Try again with the account on the original device which will identify the level 26 Springfield is on the device and do you want to save it to your Origin account. Choose yes to save it and let it go through the 15 minute harping until it crashes again.
On the iPhone 5, log into the game with your Origin account.
You might get a message that the game was not saved from the original device. Go back to the original device and try to launch it again, try the save again and then it will confirm the game was saved. Immediately exit the game from the original device. Make sure you click the physical button on your device and hold down the game to then close it fully.
Once you log in successfully to the game on the iPhone 5 let the harp continue to play for 10-15 minutes.
In my experience it finally resolved itself and I was presented with the bonus level which gives me a choice of 1 of 3 presents to see if I get 1, 2 or 3 donuts.
Even if you select a box with 1 donut click the collect button. No need to spend $ for a second chance.
When you collect you will be presented again with 3 more presents. Repeat this for the next 10-20 minutes to collect donuts.
Finally the bonus level will complete or the game will crash again.
Start the game again if it crashed and your donuts collected are still there.
I think the issue many experience is the game when it harps is not saving to origin when you exit. Therefore you have to go through steps to save it on the old device and than log in to a different device. After I got the pop up on the origional harped device to save it and closed it out and logged in to the other device after 15 minutes I was back in.
Good luck to all
FYI I did it with an iPad 4 coming from a harped iPhone 4S
Running on an IPad 4
I'm lvl 26
Two things happend the last time I successfully logged in.
1. I lvl up to 26 for the 2ed time and got one free doughnut
2. I just completed the burns mansion.
I just want to endorse spallan as I'm one of the people he helped out.
I was struck with the harps for 4 weeks and nothing I did could fix it - he got me up & running straight away and I cant thank him enough for his help.
Not wanting to overload you with requests spallan, but wanted to at least let everyone on this forum know you can trust him, if you cant trust EA to fix this at some stage soon.
every since I got harp'd for the third time I've been doing the "let it chime til it lets you back in" thing whenever my phone wasn't in use without any luck. left it running again a couple hours ago and came back to the game being crashed and back at the app folder. launched the game, got one harp, and I'm back in.
only got three donuts, the same as the last time I got back in.
somehow I'm already about half way through the xp bar so I'm expecting to get harp'd again by the end of the week.
I have been able to unlock quite a few peoples for them its quite easy if you have iphone 5, and i think also ipad 3
If you dont have one see if you know anyone that does as you can also then collect yourself a lot of donuts.
Turn off auto lock in phone settings
Close all open apps and start simpsons
Then just wait for it to start it could take 20 mins.
As i said this has worked everytime for me and i have unlocked over 30 springfields for people.
Hopefully and actual fix will come out from EA soon!
I believe they just did a silent patch or repaired the profiles. I got harped in the first round, but was able to get it unstuck with a iphone4. The second time nothing would break it for me. I just logged in and the program chugged for quite a while before the tap welcome screen. After that I was finally able to get back in. The game was acting super jittery and slow, so I relaunched and everything seems perfectly fine now.
Finally hit me. So far, no luck with all the suggestions, except that I don't have a second device to try it out on.. It has to be some kind of database corruption that ea has to fix, or maybe a second type of device is able to get past to recover the database. No idea how long I'll be down. D)$&&$m you EA!
So I didn't buy wiggams house and just woke up this morn, and had the freeze... read a **** load of comments then decided to instal it on my iphone4.... (not 4S) ... was getting the freeze on there too, but left it on, tryed it 3 times then it went into my springfeind, but went to bart screen where you have to reconnect, I tried that about 20 times before I closed my game, including from the back ground and when i started it up, it worked
dunno if it will help anyone, but it worked for me
Twice I've had the harp update. Twice got fixed by logging into and iphone5 after a week of trying on my iphone4. Thank god. But this issue needs sorted ASAP as this can't keep up
got the update, and was all anxious to try it out. no luck. killed the app, rebooted ipad, still have the harpies. also complained on the EA support site, for all the good that will do me. I gotta go find me an iphone somewhere that I can download and see if that clears it.

I can buy the Wiggum House but I'm holding off for now...
Oh, and nice avatar you got there :P
Seems that way.
The noise it makes is what happens when you get to a bonus level, so maybe that has something to do ith it...
