I really need help with KEM farming induced levelling!!

Prev13
Alrighty, here's the deal:

I've been farming Kwik-e-marts for donuts for a long time now, earning countless mystery boxes and ending up with the Channel 5 News Vans and Itchy & Scratchy billboards. I also have a TON of Lard Lads from all those mystery boxes! I've been building them as cash farms all over my city, but the problem is that it looks terrible! Just wave after wave of the same building, you know?

All that farming has certainly worked, however. I'm just short of 2000x multiplier, and I get many millions of dollars in cash daily. I can also get hundreds of donuts per day if I build and rebuild KEM every four hours. So what it all comes down to is simple - SPACE~

I've been gettings warnings forerver about how the game will not run as well. Since I can build up to three hundred KEM at a time, this adds greatly to my total. I believe I'm up to 10,300 buildings or so WITH the extra marts which I will be selling as usual. I don't know what the absolute max is (where you simply aren't allowed to build more), but I must be nearing it. Obviously that's not a problem for the Lard Lads which I can simply hoard in my stash, although that would be a huge loss of income for me (I have literally HUNDREDS of them!!). The real problem is what to do with the vans and billboards.

Every run nets me more and more of them, and of course I have to put them out for the multiplier bonus, which by now is HUGE! They're starting to make my town look lousy though, as I long ago ran out of discrete locations for them, both in Springfield Heights as well as in town. I got a bit creative and used the billboards as walls (fences) for my vast Lard Lad farms, but it doesn't look great and space is running out. Sooner or later at this rate, I will have reached my absolute max of items but from those two multiplier-growing ones that I can't store.

SO I guess what I'm asking is what you guys did to mitigate this problem? I still have lots more city I want to eventually build, and also store at least SOME of the space-intensive Lard Lads. Where can I put the bonus items such that

1. they won't be overly conspiculous and/or look like garbage
2. I can maintain and increase my multiplier without hitting the building limit?

I know KEM farming is very popular here, so there must be others who have run into this problem as well. I down want my whole Springfield stuffed with signs and vans. When I do decide to get rid of one of my giant Lard Lad fields, I want to build normal structures like the rest of my town, only wouldn't I be giving up a ton of money that several hundred shops for $135 x 2000 every four hours?? That will be a big blow.

Than you guys SO much for your help and consideration! I have been meaning to make this topic for a very long time now :)

  • Unfortunately the only thing that you can do with all the multiplier items is to try and hide them the best you can, that's one of the reasons why I stopped at around a 1700% multiplier as I still like to decorate around all my house's and buildings and with the item count limit it's a balancing act, as to the limit I can't remember exactly but it's around 10,600.
  • You could switch out the billboards for other items that have a bigger mutliplier, so that you don't raise your item numbers but still increase your multiplier. Of course you'd ultimately lose the multiplier from the stored billboards.
Personally I think Lard Lads are quite bad for farming, because they take up so much space. Maybe you should at first think about how many millions of ingame cash you really need every day and build up farms of blue/white/pink houses to earn this money. That should in the end save you some space. Or you look out for the rare multiplier items which earn you ingame cash, like Wailing Walls, Elf Houses or Snake-Trees (forgot the actual name). Normally these are quite expenisve and only available during a short period of time, but with your set up and multiplier it should be no problem to build up a (small) farm.
  • Nuke your town and rebuild it with all the buildings you want to place hiding everything. You will have fun redesigning and find that eventually you will no longer want all those ugly lard lands taking up the space. At 2000% you can easily make enough money in a day to farm kems from character tasks and building income.

I loved nuking my town. <3
Warning though the inventory is a nightmare! :#

  • Here was my method and where I am at currently. I've played this game and was around level 60 when I started playing again. So I really took over gaming with this since thanksgiving 2016. I paid for donuts when I played because I did not want to clutter my town with a vast amount of the same thing. I have a good amount of buildings already from all the time playing. At around 500% I decided to spend $100 soley for mystery boxes. It boosted me about 300% and now I'm getting close to 900% the only clutter in my town is out in the corner of my town with the billboards and vans. I plan to eventually remove them and fill it's place with a unique premium decoration. Maybe when I hit 1000% I will do that. I get 15 donuts every 4 hrs.

My suggestion is with your multiplier that high you could cut out some excess. You won't be making what you were but you can free the clutter. By the sound of it you have no issue with donuts currently anyways. That's what I'd do with the mutiplier that high. Just start removing excess and see how much it's affecting your donut ratio. Then whatever you can deal with, go with that.

  • If you're at 2000% you can rat trap truck farm.
KEM farming is for poor people...

Or people with a low XP percentage.

  • I nuked my town last week (I blame you Brooders  ), you can friend me if you want to see what I did to the place. Redesigning took me about 20 hours, though it's a pain in the snow. I have a multiplier of 4500, LL farm and a lot of space still available. Then again, i suck at designing :/

@Bomb319 I'm starting to have to same feeling as you. I'm near 2000% and I have lots of Lard lads and vans and billboards. I created a zone in a corner with all the 12h buildings I farm (mainly white houses) and when placing them I left a space between houses where I put the vans and the billboards and the JEB. You can see them, but hey, it's the farming zone, at least I don't have to think where to hide them in the city.
And probably when I'm happy with my donuts/money reserve, I will store the Lard Lads.

I'm near 2000% and I feel like I'm losing bonuts using RTT's (the math is awkard, should get more boxes that I get), so I buy bunches of 5 Tiki Bar's who gives me the right amount of bonuts.

  • @Arachdoesj ... it is always my fault :D

My friend list is at full capacity but with new events there's always a drop out so send me a request then?

I gotta say it again. I loved nuking my town <3

I will send you a request when the event starts then :). And yes, I'm so happy too that I nuked! <3
  • Obviously you need someone else to tell you to stop. Stop.
  • Thanks a lot for the advice all! It's definitely getting boring as hell building Kwik-e-marts all the time. If I have around 4 million or more, I can make about 150 donuts every four hours. Still, back in the day I have spent literally well over ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS of REAL MONEY on this game, so I'd like to think I've earned it lol.

It would be very nice to stop the KEM farming, at least. It's not like I really even need the money anymore with the exception of events, and Cecil's stuff. I've done rat traps too, of course. It's not really farming per se though, is it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the procedure here:

    1. Get million of dollars
    2. Build as many rat traps as you can
    3. Collect donut bonuses
    4. Sell all rat traps
    5. Repeat
    6. ???
    7. Profit!

Am I missing anything? I've bought so much extra land for farming too...just taking the time to build 300 KEMs is getting to be too much. It's just that I've been playing this game since 2012 and don't want to screw it up, you know? That's why nuking scares the HELL out of me! When I think about all the hours spent on SF Heights and building my freaking monorail piece-by-piece...rebuilding it all would take FOREVER! On the other hand, those vast fields of Lard Lads while very lucrative, look terrible and are contrary to my original vision. My SF Heights is also messy and always has been.

I have to keep my multiplier bonus up though, and that means I STILL need to find a good spot for the many hundreds of vans and billboards, even if I get rid of all the Lard Lads. Anyone have some advice about where to put those two bonus items? It's also a real shame that they count as buildings because won't I inevitably be cut off from building anymore because those many bonus items capped my building limit??
  • First, I switched to Rat Trap farming at about 1000%. It saves a lot of time (I'm currently at 1600% and Rat Traps start annoying me as well). At these levels you get enough doughnuts to get all the items which are available. Personally, I don't see any good reason going beyond 1500% or so.
Then I eliminated ugly SH buildings and farms.
Right now I'm replacing low multiplier items with higher multiplier ones: benches, flower planters, white fences, replacing regular items with premium versions (like chicken coops), placing BBQ Pigs instead of billboards (pigs are 2.5%, have 1x2 footprint and easy to hide behind buildings). That will give me another couple of hundred %s.
I'm more or less done with boosting my stats. I get all I can buy (including paying with doughnuts for crafting during the events) and I don't see any good reason to have an excess of doughnuts which I cannot spend.
  • Highlight and store all of Springfield Heights then rebuild that with all the vans and billboards hidden behind the ugly tall buildings along the mountain edge. Get rid of the lard lands too you will feel much better.

Don't fear the NUKE its fun :)

I started playing just after thoh2012, my new design is such an improvement! I left out the monorail and that increased performance a lot. My kem farm and billboards are now in SH, news vans on the far right column so I can easily move them to the right if new land comes available. If you reach your item cap, I think most sea stuff counts for 2, deleting them will give you more leverage
  • Is it still FUN for you? I’ve found that it’s easy to get addicted to playing this game in a way that really isn’t enjoyable. It was very liberating for me to just store stuff I didn’t like even if it was detrimental to productivity. I somehow still find a way to raise enough donuts the get the things I like and there’s nothing about my town that I’m disappointed in.
  • It's really easy to get overwhelmed with a desire to quickly get what you want.

My advice is utilize your lard lad farm to keep buying stuff, but not mystery boxes anymore. It's really a simple solution.....step back and think of how sad you'll be when you have nothing left to purchase......so what's the point of 5000%?? You'll have everything bought then be drooling for events to spend, rushing all tasks....not fun, not needed. I suggest start utilizing your donuts for stuff that you'll be excited to place in your town. Even if it is expensive. Look at other towns and get creative ideas.....

Do you think you can create cool theme areas? What would make good center pieces.....?? How can you build an area and what items can you use that give bonus? Thinking along these lines is just way more fun...

And hiding billboards and vans is fun too. Go to any advance town and tap around you'll hear billboards behind all kinds of things.

You WILL have way more fun farming those KEM if you are doing it to buy cool items NOT the same lard lad, van, billboard cycle. I can guarantee that. Once your enjoying it, your doing it right.

Also if anyone followed me this far. Has anyone put the pyre behind a tank? I'd like to see how it looks as I want to create a war theme I have a lot of ideas but I need to know if I can make the tanks look a bit blown up.

  • OK, I have gone through all replies again, and once again I want to thank you all for your advice :) Ican definitely see wisdom in all these answers :) So basically, now that I have a multiplier of 2000 and can effectively make as many donuts as I want, it IS better to stop KEM farming entirely and either switch to rat traps, or stop farming entirely? Also this may be a dumb question, but nobody ever keeps their masses of Kwik-e-marts just to collect the frequent tax on it, do they? I only ask because I've seem farms of completed KEMs in other towns. I'm definitely happy to stop; it gets quite tedious building, selling and repeating thousands of buildings! I also ALWAYS hit the single donut prize and it annoys the hell out of me after awhile!

I'm also getting the impression that most of you suggest that I do in fact KEEP MY BILLBOARDS AND VANS. Just find better hiding places. I used to hide them in SH, but after awhile there are no places left - good or bad. As far as the nuke goes....it still scares me! We're talking about a town started in 2012. Do you know how many hours I've spent, arranging and rearranging houses, trees, and everything else?? I've always disliked my SH, so I can see nuking that and hiding my stuff among it better as well. But you can't nuke SH without nuking everything, right? I suppose the best I can do is just mass-tuck everything away in my inventory?

Thanks again for all the tips, guys. It's very much appreciated. If you can think of anything else that I either should be doing, or things I'm doing that I really shouldn't, by all means please point them out to me!

Remember, I remain a VERY active player, and still have several free spots. Feel free to add me at any time

  • You can't NUKE Springfield Heights alone unfortunately. Only Krusty land is separate to do that. So as I suggested just mass highlight it and store in blocks then reorganise it all with all those vans and billboards tucked away behind the tall buildings.

Or just NUKE the lot :D

I've been playing since 2013, level 939 and bonus 3000% best thing I did was nuke.

Shall I mention NUKE one more time?

NUKE NUKE NUKE NUKE NUKE NUKE NUKE :#

  • I think everyone farms to their needs for the most part, don't quit that. I farm for what I want.....so with these mini events I got I am farming 450 KEM at once......but to get what I want this moment.....

If your shy about nuking, use your income from the lard lads to buy a huge chunk if you can still buy land then think about what you want there! Most people do theme areas. So in your new area drag over items that fit what you want to do, farm for what you need and can buy. Repeat....eventually areas will get sparse and the land buying won't be necessary. Replace 1 unit billboards over time with 2-3% single items to help your item count....
