  • Hi l have had the same problem as the above character icon not working missing giant fir tree burns money mountain and all the other things mentioned l have emailed e/a on several occasions without any response I'm thinking of stopping playing it takes to long so please if anyone has any solutions l would be grateful.

  • Well....I got confirmation from EA that the fix today was NOT for this glitch. Here is what was shared from EA.....
    The patch today after researching was to fix an issue regarding the museum quest to crash.

    The difficult task the studio have is that the idle character button is not effecting every player. (myself included) so they are struggling to determine what and how they can fix this when it is not a general across the board issue.

    My consensus is they will ask us to offer a templated land to users affected if this continues XXXXXXX.

    As discussed, the amount of items you receive is quite staggering. The downside is you need to start with a Level 60 empty land but if you are creative then you have hundreds and hundreds of items waiting for you to place on your new land.

    Here was my feedback to EA.........
    Thank for the follow up…… Here is some feedback that might help with fixing (or finding the underlying cause):
    1. AS noted in this trouble ticket, XXXXX (EA Rep) on Jan 24th found AND FIXED the issue with my broken game, that being “bugged variables”. Once XXXXX corrected the bugged variables everything worked in the game without any loss of progress. This of course was fixing the result of the problem, not finding the initial issue that original caused the bugged variables.

      Has the develop team been in contact with XXXXX and worked with XXXXX to duplicate the fix XXXXX found on a larger scale?

      So if an update can validate what the correct variables should be then do nothing to the unbroken game, but if it sees any variables are “bugged” then correct them. That would be an approach to fix broken games while not effecting unbroken games. This verification or fixing bugged variables could be even limited to the limited items affected by this glitch, namely Character Button / IRS Building Tapping Radius / Rail Yard broken prize cycle / Springfield Heights Unlocked characters / Minigames present from previous events from the Time Travel event to today.

      Even if this fix was not launched globally, it could be a fix that could be applied by EA tech support to effected games to search for and corrected all invalid or “bugged” variables when a player reports a broken game.
    2. This was introduced by EA during the Time Travel / 4th of July Event last year (2017). What is difference in the code prior to this event to the update that can affect the variables in the game? This is the key point where this bug was introduced. And from that time on each update this bug is expanded to more and more players. So the answer is in the pre event code last year (or the difference between pre Time Travel / 4th of July event and after the event launched).
    3. As far as accepting a template town is all on the side of the player paying the price due to a bug EA introduced. This might be advantageous to a new player without much, but for those of us who have been playing for 4-5 years and spent hundreds of dollars over that time…..asking them to give everything up is not a solution. If EA was smart they would have included a backend inventory management tool which would make is easy to export a list of items in a town, apply the template town, then import the list of items exported from the original game. It is a matter of in game database management and if EA had any foresight would have been fairly easy to implement. I can handle having to redesign everything, but asking to give up 4 or 5 years of items paid for with hundreds of dollars of real world cash and countless hours of playing is not something any company could ask from any customer in good conscience.



    Could you share these insights with the development team and the upper manager team and share with me their feedback? Or if they have any further questions I am more than willing to help.



    My game is currently still working after my 10th hit of this glitch over the last 10 months. But I have been trying to get EA to actually get the root cause of the issue....I here is the exchange with EA today to my feedback to EA above that was passed on to another random EA rep........

    You never addressed a single one of my points I shared with you.

    Not only have I been to all those places but I have been posting there for nearly a year about this issue........without a single reply from anyone at EA in all that time at any of these sites. There are at least 20 threads on this topic going back 1 years and 2 months ago, with a HUGE explosion of affected players in the last 3 months.

    The two reps before you were trying to make contacts among the various teams at EA and get them connected to the rep who actually found a fix for this glitch in my game as they noted in this ticket thread on Jan 26th.

    I am not looking for canned copy and pasted replies.......i have had all of those boiler plate answers posted in this 10 month long thread by multiple other Ea reps.......i am looking for real help with detailed feedback to the 3 points I posted concerning information that may help the teams that (hopefully are actually still) working on a solution.

    If you are not able to offer that level of support to address my 3 detailed points with direct contact to the EA rep who figured out the solution on Jan 26th and get that person connected to the development team AND the upper management team with the goal of finding a real global solution......then who can offer that level of help?

    You're probably right, but for one thing I'm curious whether there are external conditions that cause/ease the corruption. I don't believe that the saved games are being corrupted all by themselves or the cloud but rather by some problem during the player's device and the cloud communicating and synchronizing the game state. And at this point, there might be some configurations to be more prone to causing errors rather than others.

    I had a similar thought the first time I got hit but after 3 times and horrible customer service this last time I no longer care. They need to fix it. They ought to start by looking at what could possibly prevent the character icon in the upper left from working. But I really don't believe they are even looking into this issue yet. Perhaps when enough people get hit with it, 1 star review it, and quit spending money on the game they will be directed to solve it.

    I think the problem is that as users we’re never going to have the kind of detailed information that would allow us to engage in informed speculation about these matters. EA might have enough data to do so, but who knows? In any event, they aren’t going to communicate that to us; at least they never have in the past.

Since you've been hit so many times ... Have you also tried this? I have unfortunately not been able to get EA support to rollback my game after three calls so i wouldn't know if this actually works for good. I hate to give up on four years of this great game.

    If this theory were true, in the absence of cache clearing why wouldn’t re-glitching always occurs almost immediately after re-installation? Instead we have users reporting highly variable intervals ranging from days to weeks to even months. And, on the flip side of the coin, as has been stated elsewhere, users have reported re-glitching even after cache clearing.

    Yes. When I was first hit with it in June 2017, I did that and was hit again a week later. I have been a total of 10 times. I have done the clearing cache a few times and have not do the rest. I have been re-hit as soon as the second login after a just an hour after a roll back and have as much as 2 months between re-hits.

    the one thing I did do different this time is make sure I keep the game in internal memory and not move it to the mciroSD card. I am only like 10 days since the last roll back, so still too early say I won't be rehit again.

    on April 5 (around 11:00 CET ) I hit the same bug as described here and here @ https://tstoaddicts.com/2018/03/12/rollback-glitch/) : all mini games flashed before my eyes, Pie man / Homer mini game is there now to play for me, the button in top left corner does not work as expected, mountain of gold and super long tree radius of tapping are are set to zero etc

    The good thing the game was working fine before April 5th So the bug has happened between 6:00 and 13:00 CET

    Does it mean the bug is still not fixed? how could it be? does anyone in EA knows the root cause?

    I am addicted to TSTO, I spent a lot of real money on the game, and it is pretty serious. I know souns funny but i am junky

    I contacted EA help straightforward and still no reasonable reply.

    Do you think we can sue them? I invested some real world money to progress fast in the game. I see 2 options only a) we get the money back b) we got the fix and until the fix is there the game stops for everybody.

    What irritates me is that the issue there for quite some time and no one communivates a RCA. This is not how the cloud games work.

    We want RCA
    We want Fix
    We want money back
    And we want it NOW
  • @aldapooh ...Nope. It has been at least 1 year and 1 month since the first report of this EA introduced glitch on these forums and still no fix, let alone a single response in over a year by EA during that time on these forums.

    See links below....but short answer is to talk w them on the phone and insist they roll back your game ASAP.

    They had me do this before a rollback, nothing, been hit multiple times since...
  • I cant even count the issues now....latest one is I'm on act 2 yet all the act 2 items are locked! Rail yard doesn't work, tap radius is default.....there are other things too.....this is now getting worse

    Your Act 2 problem is probably unrelated to the other issues you cite. In Act 1 there are certain items you need to craft and place within the bonus area before Act 2 content can be unlocked.

    I have the same problem :( and another mentioned problems like:
    1. Clicking on character does not work ;
    2. Fake Toll Booth and Penny Fountain give coins;
    3. The Burns' money mountain is lower;
    4. NARA - Space Training center gives stars;
    5. Storage in Furniture Shop, Coffee Shop, L.A. Body Works, John's Pharmaceuticals and Marketing Agency dropped to zero (0);
    6. Tire Fire gives "ribbons"
    7. Friendship Level dropped to 1
    8. Tap radius is lower

    I will contact EA team. I hope that they can help me :neutral:
