Wow, crazy how mad people are getting and the depths they'll go to reclaim $9.99 when you've already enjoyed use of the character and got the free donuts. Technically at this point you're stealing less you ask EA to strip the donuts AND take away Sven so you can try to win him again in the bonus box.
I just got my money back directly from the Google play store instantly and without further questioning even though my purchase was months old!
So, I may buy 900 donuts today, receive the building and lots of tokens, then request a refund, because I somehow don't like the content, get my money back from google play "without further questioning"...? I think, I will be banned from tsto forever, lol
Sven Golly was not a character that had ever been available before, for cash or donuts.
The first time he became available was via cash with donuts, and for a limited time.
There was no indication that he would again, if ever, be available for cash or donuts. Anyone who says they “knew” he’d be available again is either lying, delusional or works for EA.
Therefore, EA created a reasonable expectation in tne mind of consumers that if they wanted the character, they’d have to buy it then and there. Offering it again via donuts is misleading tne original buyers and sharp practice.
How long before EA offers Fairy Kang, for which they charged cash, for donuts?
Based on their actions, you’d have to be a real mug to buy the Donut Factory for cash.
I have been playing this game for six years, I’ve seen free characters become premium and premium characters become cheaper (the vault). Should someone who purchased Barney demand a refund because he was once free? Should someone who payed full price for insert character here get a refund because the character is now on infinite rebate? Marketing changes with time and EA found the best course of action was to put a character that probably didn’t sell great into a mystery box so new players would be inclined to spend more than 10 bucks. When you purchased the bundle you bought the donuts not the character. You can’t be naive with EA nothing in this game is truly limited time. Also Fairy Kang was a donut purchase, I think you meant Fairy Maggie.
Just to clarify further... I have let EA know I got a refund. They were happy for me to do that as you can see in the response below:
"Thanks for your feedback in relation to this issue.
The Black Friday event does offer characters and buildings previously available in game, but only for a short time. Of course we can understand your frustration here.
However, I am glad you received your refund and I will now record this case as feedback for our studio team.
Should you have any more questions, or further concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Yes you are stealing. You're getting something for free that you didn't pay for now. Agreed with above poster that marketing changes. Are you going to start demanding refunds for all limited sales items just because 5 years down the line they're priced lower? EA never said this is the only time and way to obtain the character. That's your assumption.
The issue is not the price. The issue is the change in currency.
I totally get that prices fluctuate. Will never whine because something is now cheaper or more expensive. Thats life.
I make the decision on what to buy relative to what I’ve invested in game, time and what it took to earn donuts. I buy things using real money similarly, what I’ve invested in work, time, what it took to earn the money, and what I have to forgo if I spend the money on something else.
There is a big difference between buying things for actual money vs in game currency (donuts).

What currency?
I bought a tray of doughnuts and the character came for free
Hehe, good for you Mikey
I bought a character and got some donuts for free.
Totally respect your position. All I ask is the same courtesy in return
Edit: if you look at the gameplay at the time, pop ups, text etc, you might see it was offered as the character with extra donuts, not the other way around. Totally respect if you interpreted it the other way round, I went with the literal of what the offer said.

Oh I do
I'm not knocking anyone for their position just expressing it wasn't how I saw/see it.
Personally I think EA have been a little foolish. Doughnuts are easy to come by for long term players. So they sought to set up cash purchases as a premium currency.
They have now devalued that currency
Hmmm... I like how you’ve phrased that.. “they have now devalued the currency”. I am a long term player, have spent a lot on this game over the years because I do believe in supporting a game that I enjoy.
Did I make a mistake in buying Sven? Probably. Definitely. Will that make me less likely to buy anything in future? Probably. Definitely. Cash purchases have been devalued.
Fortunately my mistake was a once off that I will learn from
This thread makes me wish I had purchased the donut/Svengali bundle when it was available. His tent would look good in my fair area. I'm not particularly interested in the other 11 items in the Men mystery box.
Interesting that LP chimed in on the conversation. He added on page 4 “ we better change that as Free is not what it was”. I also added a copy of my receipt. It says clear as day that Sven is PART of the purchase. The character is advertised as part of the purchase and the receipt proves so. But whatever, everyone in this thread is right!
Happy thanksgiving to those tappers that celebrate it.

Game advertises:
Buy 132 donuts for $9.99, get 100 extra donuts and a free character combo
Player receives:
132 donuts for $9.99, gets 100 extra donuts and a free character combo
Player (months later):
I want a refund!
Absolutely ludicrous.
It's not stealing unless the person receiving the refund misrepresented the issue but I have a difficult time believing that the Play Store rep would have issued the refund if they had a complete grasp of the situation and the request being made.
At any rate, the player got exactly what they paid for from an offer that was accurately displayed in the currency section of the store. If I were with Google or EA, there's no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks I'd be issuing any refunds unless some transactional error took place. It was a good-faith purchase and refunds aren't issued because a player suddenly feels different about their purchase months after the fact.
