Problem area in your town

Prev1
Does anyone else have a "problem" area in their town. A space you just can't design the way you want? I had a small ice area and this new event we got a snow building and I ended up purchasing a second snow building. And it I just can't get a good design with the two new additions lol! Does anyone else run into this? With any area?

  • Yeah I've had it happen a couple times. Just take a good overall look of your town. Usually you can break apart a area and add some other things you like from around your town. Usually the latter is better. Its more than likely ends in your favor.

  • Springfield Heights for me, the entire area of it. I've redesigned it multiple times but it's never felt right. I wish the land was a few squares wider.

I can’t make the castles work. I’ve stored all of them but Frankenstein’s.

I know, I always keep hoping they'll open it up soon :(

Yes!! I ended up putting all my castles in front of the mountain range. That way they block the mountains instead of other items. They're in my spooky halloween area so they don't look TOO out of place :/
  • I've had plenty of problem areas. Sometimes things just don't seem to fit together whatever you try. It's the wrong colour, bad angle, weird shape etc. Sometimes the saviour to a hopeless case might be an odd craftable that I originally thought I'd never ever have a place for in my town. It's a really nice feeling when you finally get something to look like you want it to look like, even if it's completely by accident
  • I have three problem areas in my town..
    -Squidport
    -Springfield Heights
-Springfield (just the land that I have unlocked)

  • I do zoning in my town and I see that it may become a problem. For example my Halloween area is getting bigger and I foresee that I need to expand my zone for next Halloween. My beaches were also a problem as I feel it should be used by the elites' buildings but instead my westworld and Halloween occupy a big chunks of it. With lands coming in pieces, it is getting harder to shift things around.
  • Its Squidport for me as I've redesigned that area multiple times but just don't like the results so its staying in my inventory from now on.
    Here have a banana!!
  • Step 1 is they need to stop adding buildings. Then, after we've forced TSTO to surrender, that's when we can begin designing towns with confidence.

With the neverending pace of events these days, I have a spot at the bottom of my town6 where new stuff gets dumped until I figure out where to put it (kind of a staging area) but I have also moved entire sections back to "staging" if I'm not happy with them, until I can make them work(bless whomever came up with the area select option)

Presently, all of my Christmas stuff is down there. I ran out of room where I originally had it, so I moved it out and shuffled some stuff around to fill the void. It may be Christmas of 2038 by the time I get my new area set up :D:D

Since they went all weird with the way they give out land, everything around my edges is a jumbled mess.

Since i can't rebuild my KL exactly like my original, I've decided to build it in the lowest corner of the grid in a more condensed layout. But I really need one more column of land on the lower right side to do it the way I'm envisioning. Then i want to move my Vegas area behind that, and then I've got to push my entire desert area back into the right corner to allow that. Meanwhile I've got to push my airport back, and develop some new neighborhoods, one nicer and one crummier, but i don't have most of the land needed for those and prob won't for a while. Then along the back I'd prefer to have my zoo and up in the top corner instead have my Christmas land.

Times i think i might nuke it all, which would then make it easier to walk away.
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
  • The Post-Krustyland area became a new-event-dumping-ground for me. It's forever messy and it doesn't look very nice, but in some ways I think of it as separate from my main town. It's a place for events and testing and K-E-M farming, and will probably continue to be that until I've claimed all the token only land surrounding it.
I was looking through some older pictures I've taken of the game and it was fun seeing how the town keeps evolving and changing shape even if the day to day makes me think it's stayed the same for years.

I think you're right. I don't think I could ever nuke unless I'd decided to stop playing. Out of all my neighbours that have nuked maybe ten percent managed to re-build, the rest quit completely or gave up designing and just dump any new stuff wherever.

I nuked a side town a few years back, and wound up abandoning it after a few days. It wasnt even a quarter the size of my main town

I have enjoyed playing the game almost every single day for years, and the disarray that it's come to had me very distressed at first, and i have to argue with myself to let it go because it's just a game. But for 4 years i kept a nice clean town, designing on the fly with every event. I used to wonder why people bothered to play if they were just hoarding new buildings in piles. Now I'm doing it too. Land tokens destroyed my play style. =(

Now i feel about it, the way i felt about cigarettes. I just have to quit cold turkey. That'll be the day i nuke.

I can understand how you feel, I used to hate house farming and was able to keep my town in order. Now I have a regular K-E-M farm in my dump land. Of course it's in a far corner so I don't have to look at it, but still... :D The inventory is pretty awful if you want to find something, but I think I'm going to start ruthlessly storing unnecessary duplicates and buildings I can't place.

Me too. I dropped neighbours because they had these dumping grounds and never seemed to actually design their towns, but now I'm unable to get land where I want it to build the designs I want, I have dumping grounds for the new stuff until I have the land tokens available for the space to design what I want. If there's one thing about the game that makes me want to stop playing, it's land tokens.

I did the same thing with that area that was given to us. I'm using it for spare Springfield Heights buildings and farming. My only saving grace the past couple of months is that I had already carved out a lot of space in my Halloween and Christmas area. So all the new content that came in already had a space. But the next major event I'm screwed. I'm going to have to plop it down in the area that was given to us :(
