I too, am waiting for the next Event update. Even if it's information on the dates and items that will be available. EA needs to engage with the community more and atleast drop teasers before new content is available.
It's fine with me if EA wants to take a break before issuing the next content update/event (probably because either the next content update/event was not ready in time due to the holidays, or they're currently running a little short on ideas, or both), but it would good if they could at least inform us on Facebook and Twitter (and other social media) so that we know what to expect when no new updates are fortcoming.
As for the snow, I don't have a problem with the snow. In fact, I like the snow being there in the game. They should a winter event that makes Springfield look like it was hit with a mini ice age so that there is even more snow in the game. They should also give us the option to choose whether or not we want the snow effect being displayed. If EA decides to remove the snow with the next update, they should at least give us a transition between winter and spring so that it looks like all of the snow is melting away but not completely gone.
EA run short on ideas? They will never run short on ideas at all. They were just taking a break.
What I meant was that they could have done better on some of the past events that they have done recently, and that there is possibly a lack of creativity on the part of the development team responsible for the game in order to come up with enough good ideas from the available source material. In other words, it's not so much as a matter of being short on ideas as it is probably more a matter of being short on imagination for developing a game that requires a lot of imagination for creating new content.
I'm more of a just like to know when the next event will start, so I know to keep my characters free or not. If a date was given of Monday 14th for example, then that would be fine as I could put my characters on for 12 hours and not worry, then on 14th put them on for a shorter time so they are ready!
I don't mind the break at all.

What's evil is nobody I call over there has successfully added Mayan Homer to my villa.
Personally, I like a little downtime after a major event.
I hope this is SimCity 4
