Easter is just around the corner. If there were any thought about the game being dead, I would simply have waited until Easter and see an update or not.

Maybe it will develop the easter theme and die next week and rise up again a few days later. That will keep the 2 dead/alive camps happy.

I don't know, I mean why isn't anyone from EA ever saying anything on these threads in that case?

For what it’s worth, I’ve been playing since day 1, I loved this game, played it for years religiously, yearning for every update that came, I’m a huge simpsons fan, even now.

But , come on! Yes the game has a lot of content it *could* release, BUT is it content that people will still pay the money for donuts in the volume that they did when some of the really popular premium characters came around to buy? I don’t know. Not forgetting most/all of the “end game” peeps don’t even need to buy donuts nowadays.

I personally won’t feel too sad when it does go, kind of like “the end of an era”, I’ve had my fun on it, it’s by far not the only game I play, and I find myself on it less and less now, not through any fault of this game though, I’ve no complaints.

Tl;dr: it doesn’t matter how long it has left, just appreciate what fun you’ve had on it.

Need to do it more often or even have an update on what's happening.

Maybe we would know better upon the release of Marvel's Endgame. If the game is still around by then, it should be safe

Hope the new update will bring us a new event style..
  • The new update brings only old stuff. The "break" continues. :'(
  • It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
No patch to kindle zoom issue
All old items avail for 30 donuts
Massive land opening using land tokens
Building released to generate land tokens
Daily tasks now include land tokens if didn’t purchase building
Building released to generate 6x donuts per day (+ every other feature)
    Farming tolerated and allowed
Ability to take full town picture as memory
A monument dedicated to the finger (you) that collects all (defeats purpose of game — to tap)
    Game is now self sustaining.
Now most recent update is weeks long with no new content.
Same thing happened to avengers before they pulled the plug.
    Good run — thx EA.
Fanboys can react but clearly the game is slowing down / ending.
Good memories & fun (since 2012).

Maybe. But it took them ages to deal with other glitches, so nothing new there

All old items avail for 30 donuts

Maybe. But not all old items, and 30 donuts is only cheap if you get the item you want first or second go. It was an easy way for EA to get donut-poor tappers into buying donuts they might not otherwise have bought.

Massive land opening using land tokens

Maybe. But people complained about the way land was being released during events, so doing this removed that frustration from the game.

Building released to generate land tokens

Maybe. But it was only made available for a short time wasn't it? There was some talk that it was in the Yearbook MB, but turned out not to be the case? So relatively few players would even have it.

Daily tasks now include land tokens if didn’t purchase building

Maybe. But restricting the availability to event prize tracks was pretty limiting, so this isn't an unreasonable move.

Building released to generate 6x donuts per day (+ every other feature)

Maybe. But the LL Donut Factory was relatively pricey, and 6 donuts per day isn't as big a pull for many players as the bling factor of owning an exclusive, cool building.

    Farming tolerated and allowed

Maybe. But it's been tolerated and allowed for years.

Ability to take full town picture as memory

Maybe. But players have been asking for this feature for years.

A monument dedicated to the finger (you) that collects all (defeats purpose of game — to tap)

Maybe. But collection is limited to once a day, so it's handy (excuse the pun) but not enough to remove tapping completely. Kind of similar to the IRS building making collection easier but not enough to remove tapping completely.

    Game is now self sustaining.

Maybe. But the model for events remains.

Now most recent update is weeks long with no new content.

Maybe. But this is how it used to be, so maybe some dialling back is in order after a long period of regular, virtually back-to-back events.

Same thing happened to avengers before they pulled the plug.

Maybe. But the fanbase is different and arguably more invested.

    Good run — thx EA.
Fanboys can react but clearly the game is slowing down / ending.

Maybe. It may end sometime soon, it may not. Another option is that the game evolves into something different, one that incorporates more writing and storylines.

Good memories & fun (since 2012).

When I think about the hours I've spent on this game in all that time I weep.

Kindle? That's like playing the game on a record player. Let's upgrade to a better device.
Make Nightmare Pile like Zombie Sandwich. All kids trick or treat at once.

I spent way too much time on my last comment. Yours sums it up much better.
  • I feel like if the game were ending a lot of you are just in denial. I'm not saying that the game is ending, but I can't say that it's not ending either. Nobody knows for sure, so telling people to leave the forum or arguing just isn't the answer.

Being a developer myself, I know there could be many different factors that weigh into the recent events. Some of the possibilities are...

    1) The game is closing down due to a lack of profit. It's not impossible, if they're not meeting their profit margins then EA is going to end development of the game. EA is a big company, they won't care if there are still plenty of updates that can be done or a dedicated fan base, they will close the game down if it's not earning enough. It's not fully out of the question, just because people on the forum buy donuts frequently, doesn't mean it's enough. Companies like this need thousands to operate, it's not cheap. But it's hard to know.

    2) They're preparing for something bigger. The recent downtime could be because they're preparing for something bigger, whether it's a complete overhaul of the game, a new event with a completely new structure... or even a new expansion? It would make sense with all the recent updates being much smaller, especially the upcoming one.

    3) Stuff like GG Reality, extra land, the finger monument and the yearbook was recently added because people asked for them. Simple as that. Now can we get the additional SH land opened up?

Who know's what it could be? This is all just speculation. But when people say the game is ending, you guys shouldn't take offense. It's not them saying they want to see the game end, but just that it's a possibility. I've played the game since it came to Android and I've had some great memories from it, but it isn't the same anymore. While I still enjoy the updates that the game brings, it will never top such events like Superheroes, Stonecutters, Tap Ball, Terwilligers and so on.

I hope the game isn't ending and hopefully there will be more to come in the future.

  • They're preparing for something bigger.

  • they posted some time ago the image of the 10 billion donuts purchased real life billboard so... why say it's lack of profit?
