I sincerely doubt they'll add whacking day (if they add it at all) until Android can add friends. There'd be little point in adding it before, as all the android players would likely miss out on most of the stuff through having no friends to play with.

I've heard it said that you'll still be able to participate without friends, it'll just take longer.
As i posted in the other thread: I've spoken with the head-leader of The Simpsons: Tapped Out Customer Service department, Tim R. O'donald Leiv Lichersen, which confirmed that they'll be no updates today. SO why is everybody keep saying that they'll be an update today, when EA have stated that they'll be no updates?
Tim said, that as long as the Android version hasn't been modified they'll be no updates for the apple devices. He said that a update will approximately be released next week (if things go smooth).

If you didn't see, yesterday a poll sent out recorded that 50% of users on this forum use android.

Imagine all the people NOT on this forum. They probably have about 10 friends..
If that.
I did the Christmas update without friends. Started adding about a week into Valentine's Day. It was possible, I guess, but soooooooo slowwwwwwwww.
Our son plays sporadically, he's around 25 friends and has managed to get everything. He went through most of the updates with about 10 friends. It can be done, you just have to keep plugging away at it. I do believe that is part of the reason why major updates go so long. It gives people like him a chance to get the items and finish the quests.
It would help if they released more updates on days other than Thursday.
Am I the only person here that actually knows how a "typical" software development process works? Why is every update on a Thursday? Because they have a process in place that involves a Thursday rollout. It's called having a targeted release date.
When you develop software, you don't just push out updates as they're ready...unless it's a showstopper. (Which is likely the update we saw a week or so ago that fixed the infinite donut glitch)
You wrap up a number of changes into a release, and roll that out at a scheduled time when your development team is ready to monitor it's progress and smoke test it.

He's not even finished all the Carl/Lenny tasks.
