The problem is, when the game is fun and interesting, you put up with the server problems, and zoom issues because you can't think of not playing.

But when a game is boring and dull, it doesn't matter if it runs flawlessly, eventually you don't want to play anymore. That's why you choose one game over another in the app store, you believe one will be more fun for you than another one would.

Our fun, interesting, glichy game is becoming a boring, smoothly (but not really) run game.

You do get the impression that the amount of fanboys on here are happy to lap up anything EA dish out.

People are not hating on the game as a whole, just on what it has become which is very, very boring with little to no imagination.

    This from October 2017...

I’m not one to complain but this is an utter stinker of an event so far, the prizes are just awful for anyone who is an older player.

    Not one to complain, lol.

    Two complaints in two years?

Yeah I moan all the time don’t I?

  • I'm fine with this event, I'm just not happy with the way it was announced (Although I'm not saying anymore on that). I love the underwater Mapple HQ building.

I didn’t quote your whole post history, but it’s pretty much all complaining. So yeah, you moan all the time.

The thing that I dislike about this event is that the lack of incentive to visit neighbors' towns during it... In the past, we got needed currency from visiting them. Now? Nothing. No reason to visit unless you are in need of money or FP.

Still, it's better than the garbage we had in the past by a mile. Sorry, but this isn't slowly moving along like Clash of Clones or as nasty as Valentine's Day or Easter 2013. It's unoriginal in that it's (at most) a couple of mini-events that got slapped together with a central theme- but it's still not that bad!
  • Would it hurt to put some aspirationals in? I’m probably not the only one with billions of in game cash sitting around

@efin98 I visit OS every day for 30 FP and catch SSB, and if I was able to have friends I would visit them as well, even if there is no incentive.

@wooslscott455 Speak for yourself, (In terms of IGC I mean), how do you get that much dough anyway, I must be playing the game wrong.

  • I always assumed people were already speaking for themselves?

Except that guy who said EVERYONE wanted a console game.

    Aha!
I want Zoloft for boredom and TDS.

Those of us who still suffer from the "glitch" have plenty to complain about. Denied a roll-back when first encountered (as were all), told it would be fixed, now well over a year later and we still suffer. Can't roll back now as there is simply too much lost...and template town is not a viable option.

The loss of the use of the "idle character button" as EA calls it, is by far the worst part of it. Also, many items I spent so long to acquire no longer work.

So before you think all is fine and dandy, and there is nothing to complain about, try looking at things from someone else's point of view first.

    Agree with OP.

I didn't realize there were multiple mini-events. When the second one started, I was a little disappointed. That's never happened before. I still love the game and have fond memories, but these "events" are lame and stale. There are so many ways EA can make this game more appealing. I don't know why they choose not to. I imagine new players probably like this format, but we veteran players have experienced different, more entertaining, gameplay.

The reason for my original post was not to whine but to bring to light the things this event left to be desired. I even started my post with positivity. People who have been on this forum for years would know that I am not one to moan and complain about the game but I wanted to express my personal disappointment given how bad the lack of new content has been this year. This was the first App Store update in 5 months, after a long stretch of banality with lack luster updates that offered no incentives.

As opposed to an in game updates, App Store updates offer the possibility of big changes, but this one (again in my opinion) fell flat. New land doesn't have the awe it used to since SO MUCH new land was previously released. It's great that they fixed the zoom issues that were affecting some players, but I believe those tappers were the minority here. Tapped Out needs something rejuvenating for every player.

People complained about the crafting and other issues that became the norm with "big events" so EA did away with most things and just gave us 4 mini updates combined to 1 "big event". Crafting was not fun but Tapped Out had some great events, such as the Casino Event and Stonecutters. I guess EA felt that people complained so much that if they gave us the simplest event possible, it satisfies their base. My opinion is that it doesn't.

There are no new aspirationals. Why can you release a giant toilet for $100,000,000?
There hasn't been any updates to "Roads To Riches" since its inception.
Neighbor visits are pointless, Frink Points would be fun again.

The reason I wrote this update is for the birds (A Reservoir Dogs reference) is because the year Tapped Out has had so far leading up to it. Maybe they will give us something new and awesome soon, or maybe they won't.

There hasn't been a neighbour part to events for a while though. It's a bit of a non-issue IMO.
  • Could be that we don’t have friends interactions anymore ‘cause it was always tied to crafting.
  • There never was anything for Springfield Heights again either

I like my SH area, it’d be so cool to have more land opened up on that side.

I don't mind this event but I do agree with the points you made. There have been some good features added this year like the golden goose, monument, town portrait and the yearbook box.
I think EA should try to add the neighbour features during the mini and multi events so that when tapping buildings and decorations in their towns also rewards 1 or 2 of the events currency per item tapped and go up to 30 taps a day like it used to be in the past.
I also think that there should be more updates released that don't have to be a mini or multi event like expansions or episode tie ins, along with more prizes for Road to Riches, Friend Points, Springfield Heights either with updates or on their own.
There should also be updates that are not limited time since almost everything EA releases is always limited time or just tied to an event.
  • I get ya, I really do.

Personally, I'm wondering if they're waiting for a specific time or holiday to release a GOOD EVENT.

Crafting was a pain.... When they did it wrong, unlocking the next tier was an annoyance, lemme craft what I want to craft without binding craftables to certain acts, ya know?

Sure some events had some lazy writing or some basic minigame, but often it added something.

Anyways..... Here's hoping for an event filled with neighbor visits and some wandering tappables

I always found that annoying, either having to craft something from the current level or lots of things from a lesser level, just to advance to the next, gggrrrrr.

EA doesn't want to make it too easy, so we have to slog out collecting Event Currency to craft, I get that.

They may not want us to be able to buy a specific item either because it's expensive, it's high % bonus, and like with RPG's where you start off low, you have to build up your abilities, I get that as well.

I can understand they keeping the 3 Acts seperate, especially as they want to keep some of the content over the whole game secret until you have unlocked it, I get that as well.

But whichever Act you are on I think you should be able to buy any of the items that are directly related to the section you are on.

But I have an idea about that or maybe only a part idea, but see what everyone thinks anyway?

EA wants us to slog it out collecting Event Currency, fair enough, and if we collect what we need to buy a specific item it might be considered too easy, again fair enough.
But what if we carried on collecting EC to a percentage over and above the cost of the item while using whatever low % bonus that we are on at that moment in time, so we are still having to slog our way through it.

What I'm thinking is, if I remember correctly, (If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me), Transylvania Cottage from THOH XXIX cost 450 or 750, so just as an example mind, it could be 900 or 1350 instead, and Rickety Bridge I think was 1800, so it could be 2200 instead.

The mid range items would go up by a higher percentage than the expensive one's, after all the expensive items are already expensive, so would not want to go nuts with it as that would defeat the whole object.
Once the first item has been bought it is unlocked and is then available at its normal price.

So, we have still slogged at it to get the EC to pay for it, we have paid over the price to get the item.

Granted, it's a bit rough around the edges, but it is just an idea and as I haven't heard many ideas of how to get crafting back and crafting in a way that we enjoy it, (Seeing as it was probably the reason why people complained about crafting in the first place so EA stopped it and now we're complaining we want crafting back because it's boring without it), I figured any idea to get the ball rolling is worth it.

    Just a thought?
