The Mission (1999). A HK film by renowned director Johnnie To. This is a stylishly made film with jazzy background music. The gun shoot out scenes are realistically down to earth as compared to the usual typical over the top HK triad films. Dialogues are short and little. It is a short film at 1 hr 24 min. Once finished I immediately rewatched again as although it is a seemingly simple film, you will miss certain information if you do not pay attention to the dialogue and the actions of the characters. Also the few gun fighting scenes are really worth a rewatch. The story is about five former triad members recruited to protect a triad head facing assassination. A very good show.

Mad Detective (2007) A HK film by Johnnie To and Wai Ka-Fai. This film had won awards and the film was shown in various film festivals. Some critics called it a masterpiece of Cinema. This film does have a very unique storyline and is not your typical crime thriller film.

Life Without Principle (2011). A HK film by Johnnie To. The Chinese title means Gold that kills. This is another award winning film by the renowned director. However I don't really like it as I wasn't aware that it centres a lot on financial matters and it makes me stressful with a topic close to heart. In fact a big bulk of time was spent seeing a financial advisor at work. The style of the film is a bit nolanish though.

Golden Chicken SSS aka Golden Chicken 3 (2014) I wasn't aware that SSS means the third film. But this HK film still feels like it can be watched on its own. There are a lot of HK actors' cameos. Quite funny and quite shocking at its blatant depiction and discussion of the world of working girls. At the same time it is also a serious film about the transitions of HK and how different individuals work though it. Not a family friendly film though for its theme.

The White Storm 2 : Drug Lords (2019). This HK film is a separate film on its own and not a sequel. I like that it has veteran actors in it like Andy Lau, Michael Miu and Louis Koo. Story wise is average. It has some good action sequences though. Overall above average watch

Parasite (2019) whatever films Song Kang-Ho appears in, it will be a good film. This is another Korean film masterpiece.

Andy Lau starred in the movie "Du shen"?
"God of Gamblers" is a cool movie. I like OST, but I don't know the name. Found on YouTube (https://youtu.be/_87PFerrYsE)

Yes he did. Andy Lau was the disciple of God of Gambler, Chow Yun Fat in the film. The God of Gambler kicks off a series of gambling films during that era. I rewatched some of them and wrote about it earlier in this thread.
  • In fact God of Gamblers can be watched on YouTube. It has English Subtitles

Vengeance (2009). A HK French thriller by Johnnie To. Quite stylishly shot with nice shootout scenes. Quite A noir style and at times got some slow scenes. A rewatch for me

Breaking News (2004). This Johnnie To film has non stop tension and action throughout the whole film. A good watch. A rewatch for me.

X-men Dark Phoenix aka Dark Phoenix (2019). I still enjoy the film and its action effects given the bad press of this film.

I have to agree I don't think it was as bad as people and critics made out I think the problem was the fact you had Captain Marvel, Shazam, Spider-Man far from home and Avengers Endgame all out around the same time and The film just got caught out people expecting it to be like Avengers which I'm not a fan off the marvel or DC universes there seems to be a superhero film out every month though Joker is different I have to say I am a X-Men fan the films below should be treasured because marvel / Disney will just reboot the X-Men franchise then of course join the avengers so these films will get forgotten about or not even mentioned by Marvel / Disney because there target audience for X-men future films will be children X-Men will never be the same again R.I.P :'(

IT Chapter Two (2019) Out now So apparently the film is not as scary as the first film but it looks like it's not the last we've seen of Pennywise as Director Andy Muschietti has said that Pennywise has lived for thousands of years so is that an announcement of a prequel decades before IT met the losers club but a 3rd film following the events will definitely not happen as the book only had two parts what could a prequel film look like.

The Face Reader (2013). A Korean film about the first renowned face reader and his adventures. A good watch.

Hunter Killer (2018). Overall feels like a B grade action flick. Above average watch

Zombiepura (2018). A rare film from Singapore, about zombies set in the context of the mandatory national service and its subsequent annual retraining. The film is funny before the zombie breakout. Just because male Singaporeans could identify with the settings. But subsequently, we see ludicrous settings and stupid characters when zombies appeared. The make up of zombies is nice though. This film overall is an average film for me.

I enjoyed the X-men movies but didn't see this one in theaters. Phoenix is my favorite character but has yet to be done correctly onscreen. I hope MCU makes that happen at some point. We will rent when it comes out at Redbox.
