  I've got the same issue.
  
  You still get XP from completing tasks, just not from collecting stuff. I've set all my town to do 12-24hr tasks in the hope that this is fixed later.

  I went to a neighbor already and it still disappeared. Not a workaround.

  sorry seemed to work for me. I collected in my town, went to a neighbors town and back to my town. When I logged back in I still had my XP.

  It works in some instances but not all. Issue appears to be that your city doesn't synchronize on the way out. At least not always.

  I tried this last round of collections, and no dice for me, either.
  
  It saved the XP from the neighbor visit, but not the XP from task/building collection. There seems to be something with the type of XP. Also uncertain why it's only hitting some people.
  
  I have a ticket in with the tech people, but the estimate for a response from first tier is 48 hours. I take that to mean that they won't even read it for that long.
