The rule is definitely a problem. It may have a good reason, but it is definitely a problem for the reasons that many people already noted. The biggest issue here in my estimation is that EA does a poor job communicating major game Decisions. Wouldn't it make more sense to have explanations For all of these major decisions in the form of press releases? The PR arm of the day is deplorable. They could perhaps Sason headaches if they just took some time to create an announcement website.
I don't even give ea enough credit to think about stability, I just think they were trying to fit all the android people onto their system. Given their history of doing the bare minimum and shooting first asking questions later so to speak. As people here have said, the game was having issues from the very beginning way before people started building up their towns. And even if they were trying to solve stability issues, there's no reason they can't use all the money they made from their loyal customers that spend the most amount of time, effort and donuts building up their town to buy extra servers and adequately fix their problems. They should be able to adapt with their customers, especially considering how much money they're making in return.
As for making an announcement or thinking about how it affects their loyal customers, I don't think these things really occur to them.
I noticed tonight I could put fences under the burns limo and valentines pond, idk if its a glitch or if they changed the boundaries for items, :hunf: but it was weird.
But why? To save the world's biggest computer games company from buying the required server infrastructure for their game? What happens when the game is still unstable afterwards? A 2500 limit? A 2000 limit?
No thanks, I'm not tweaking my town because of EAs arrogance. I'd rather quit. This may not affect you, but other players are affected. The game has been ruined for me personally.
has it occurred to you that they may not want to upgrade until they know what they are likely to be dealing with traffic wise?
with the android version of the game primarily offline up until now, they are in the dark with how many people still log in, how often they do etc. I'd say they are just taking some time to see what kind of data transfers they are going to have on a daily basis before they upgrade to make room for growth.
literally no intelligent business model on the planet would cap the customer base. Especially one as profitable and addictive as tsto. If the servers are full, the company will buy more in order to grow the game, but they have to have a rough idea of how much to grow by. Phone apps are a very fragile market. One minute the game is hot, the next its stale and everyone has moved on to the next thing (angry birds, words with friends, etc etc). Overexpanding the servers could prove to be quite costly if the game up and dies in a month or 6 months.
Seriously EA ****? This 3000 limit is a complete joke I understand the purpose behind it but a year after the game was released and this happens? Total bullcrap I've spent hours and spent my own money to decorate my town to then have to destroy it in order to keep playing this game?
A complete and utter joke EA congratulations u suck even more
You too Peter , not fair! I think I will take all decorations down! And restart my town after the wacking thing! I am really not so happy with this update! Snakes dissarearing, xp not accumulating , and a much higher goal for xp than others! This update hasn't been nice to me at all!
Fundamentally it's just wrong - limiting people to what they can do with their space. It's like letting a kid play in a massive garden and tethering them to one place; or giving someone a box of crayons and telling them they can only use 3 colours.
It's scandalous!
Creative players aren't to blame, neither are house farmer - they're just making use of the space that they've been allotted by EA. You wouldn't expect your landlord to come round your house and say "I like what you've done with this place, but you need to remove half of your furniture".
It's criminal. People have paid them good money to decorate their town as they see fit. Surely they must have had some kind of idea of a maximum amount of data that a fully open and fully filled town would require? And if not why not?
It's entirely their fault for poor planning, management, and design. Adding Android to Origin is a stupid move too, especially if they knew that there would be operational problem. No wonder they've been voted worst company in America (or is it the world?) two years running!

I have the same problems as you Olga. The stability claim has proven to be a complete joke by now. XP not working, snakes disappearing, the Smithers one hour job not working. I've lost sleep on this update. Losing sleep over a casual game!!! Thanks EA.

Well said complete joke I hope EA do read these forums the principal of this game is to redesign Springfield after Homer's idiotic actions but to be told we can only use a certain amount of buildings and decorations? That doesn't work for me how u can ask people to pay from their own pocket and buy decorations n buildings in the game and then tell "oh wait u will need to remove them to continue playing"???
What about future updates when there is a lot more buildings how can we make use of the new buildings in future when were restricted from the amount of buildings we can actually use?
You can't ignore a new building because tasks come up not asking u to build them but telling you to build these new buildings! How can I build more buildings when I am restricted

You realize that server stability and the synch issues are likely two completely different things right?
I wouldn't be shocked if the Android Origin update is partially to blame. But now that I can visit my city on my phone OR iPad it's great. Because I don't have to drag my iPad to work to check my city every few hours for snakes.
Not to mention that it gives people who have been playing on Android a chance to have all of the features that iOS users have had.
I'm curious though, are the XP issues ONLY those who have already hit 27? Because most of the time forum goers are top-level players. I'd be interested in knowing if people who are just getting started are having the same issues.
Because I think part of what they were trying to do is increase the amount of XP needed for bonuses as you get more of them. Alternatively, it's possible they're trying to base the required amount of XP to gain a bonus to your current bonus mutiplier.
...I couldn't give Archimedes an egg. Too much stuff. Tried to send a PM but user ID doesn't seem to be in the system. Sorry, I tried.
I've decided to stop giving eggs for the time being. I lost about 40 snakes (from 112 to 82) while giving out eggs. Which means I'm back to where I started this morning. Until I at least have the license to whack in friends towns I'm not risking losing any more snakes.

I stopped having an issue earlier this morning and I felt bad for not giving back b/c I was getting a lot from just a few people. I'm still nowhere near done but I think I might have been able to give at least one egg (some people more when I know they did too) to about half my towns. It's going to take a while but I will try to hit everyone as many times as I can in the fairest way I know how. I was able to reach the first goal finally! So happy just for that small thing.
Could it be that EA didn't expect such a profitable and popular game? I didn't see it being a big deal till I started playing. So now they are realizing what a popular game it is and had no choice to put a limit untill they could catch up with the update and get more room? Hopefully this is just a temporary measure to get more people involved and then on the next update we can eat back to normal. I really don't want to reduce my town but don't want to stop playing. But if this doesn't improve, I'm done for sure. No reason to spend money on a game that doesn't allow space for items.

You and me both!
I have screen grabbed everything that had to go and if they lift the stupid cap it will all be put back. Managed to keep the hedge maze though.

considering snake eggs count towards the 3000 limit cap, you need to remove more or friends wont be able to leave you any eggs to plug open.
the cap is stupid. ea should invest into better servers!
Cool, cheers.
