Monorail Alignment - Stupid Question!

Hi guys, been playing since 2013. Delighted to have lots of new land. First thought - monorail expansion! I had 2 monorail tunnels in storage. Was surprised that I couldn’t just place them anywhere along my mountain range, but that’s a separate issue. I’ve put them in 4 separate locations and, no matter where I put them, my monorail tracks are 1/4 out of sync (half of a small piece of track - please see pic) What on Earth am I doing wrong please??!!lebfbq08paza.jpeg

  • Ya, the tunnels go where the tunnels go and you'll have to move your entire mono rail to match it up.
Whoa, whoa, whoa – I only accept cash, bitcoin, or GameStop stock.

Move my whole monorail?? Surely not? That’s certainly not happening, if that’s my only solution!

  • Yep....that is your ONLY option - realign the whole system. I had to move 600 rail sections to get the tunnels to work properly. It only took about 3 hours so it's no big deal and if you want rail access to SH, you gotta bite the rail and do it. And while I'm talking monorail, you need TWO of the new SH bridge sections (20 donuts each) to bring rail service to your northern frontier. Pricey, but worth it. My main line now runs something around 9 minutes (including stops).

Wow, how disappointing! What a poorly thought out idea this is (IMO) I’ve had the monorail tunnels in storage for YEARS, waiting for this land to open up. And, now that it has, I have to move EVERY piece of my existing monorail? I have lots and lots of items/buildings VERY close to my monorail, so moving it would take a LONG time, time I don’t have.

BIG missed opportunity here. Thanks for the answers guys, disappointing as they are! 👍

  • Last time this happened I think there was an update to fix this. Hopefully there should be another to fix this

  • When I placed the monorail bridges it happened the same. I have to redesign and realign every monorail section I had in Springfield Heights with the new area.
  • This isn't an error like the monorail bridge, it's a simple 'you're one block to the right of where you need to be.' This is where one-block rail pieces would come in handy, but we have all had to make big shifts if you have changed parts of your town.
  • You could shift the entire rail.

    Or,

You could create a separate rail that services the new area. As long as you include a station that makes its own train. But if you want one continuous rail then yes, it's the rail tunnel that dictates its placement throughout the grid.
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
  • Thanks everyone. I like the suggestion of a separate loop servicing the new land. Thanks for that, that seems like the best option for me! 👍
  • The monorail pieces are one of my biggest frustrations. I've spent hours on it and given up. It drives me crazy.

It is achievable with a certain strategy. My strategy is to have all 6 stations separated and not united. I have the Mall-O-Rail in the Springfield Heights and it goes to new area in the North East. The Sprinfield Central use both tunnels to enter and leave Sprinfield Heights. The other four stations are all around my Springfield but as I said each one is independent.
  • I have the same issue, missing 1/4 part. My solution is to hide that ‘gap’ behind a tall building. The monorail then just turns around there, but it does ride the entire track this way. And turns around again when it approaches the gap from the other side.

Gaps like these can be used to create new home brew stations where the train wouldn't normally stop, but the gap makes it slow on approach and then reverse
