Item limit needs a serious boost

As someone who's been playing this game for the entire 10 years of its lifespan, I've amassed a lot of buildings, decorations, etc, and I have a very busy Springfield, one which I've spent a lot of time on to make it look and feel like a real Springfield. So it's frustrating when I was doing a bit of town redesigning to see the warning that I'm closing in on the item limit with 14,800 already placed in the town.

For a game this big, with so many things you can place in your town and so much land, it feels a bit ridiculous for the limit to be so low at just 15,000. I like adding in lots of trees, bushes, fences, walls, etc, to make the town look and feel better. I don't want to have to remove these aesthetics as I feel it would ruin my town to do so.

The limit should really, at the very least, be double what it is now as it just doesn't feel commensurate to how much you can have in your town to make it look and feel aesthetically pleasing.

  • I did really like the groups of trees we got with the wilderness area in Springfield Heights which allowed us to replace 3 trees with one group of trees. I wish they would expand on that if they can’t increase the limit.
  • Item limit is currently 16k @meshugene89
  • Yes make the limit 30k!
All my designs look unfinished because i can't place as many plants, streetlights, and fences as i would like. PLEASE REMOVE THE LIMIT, EA!
  • I agree it's frustrating about the item limit, but I understand it has to do with device stability or something.
I've been playing for years too, and my town is at it's limit. I've had to delete loads of pavements, roads, trees and fences etc. I even had to delete hundreds of monorail tracks. I had 6 stations each with it's own tracks, and now only have 4 separate tracks.

    Still not enough, imo.
Curently I don't have all land unlocked (waiting for Golden Goose to make a return so I can buy it), but I did I'd then a 16k item would stil be too little given just how much space there is for town designing.

This is the part that's so frustrating, that road, pavement, water, etc, all count towards the item limit.
Having to remove such things from your town as well as buildings, decorations, etc, is not not good game design, imo.
Surely the devs realise just how much people can put in their towns, we're not just placing a ton of buildings in empty land with a few decorations. Many of us take designing and aesthetics very seriously and they haven't been raising item limits sufficiently with how much content is in the game.
Even if it is indeed an issue of "device stability" then surely they can figure this out.
  • Problem is too many do not design w much style or intent. Many of my neighbors have a mess where every building is surrounded by streets, which ive never seen in real life. But moreso, making town building fun may not increase profits enough, vs the expense to code better town building features.

Id love to know what they think and why tho. But I have little hope for improvement here.

  • I love this game, but I think it is really unfair of them to limit how items when some people are spending money on donuts to buy items.
  • I understand the concern, as too many characters seems to make the game take ages to load. But if thats a problem, why hold back ppl who have faster devices?

Limit older devices so those ppl can at least still play, but allow newer devices to utilize their technology

  • Frustratingly hit the item limit again tonight….literally just before the Xmas event starts! 😬😬

Hopefully EA gives us some headroom along with the event 🙏🏻 🤞🏻

  • I think most of you are missing the point with TSTO. EA markets this game to make $, not to provide an elaborate designing platform for 22 million users. EA has to produce a game that can be played on the LEAST capable devices - not the MOST capable or they will quickly run out of new users. Gaming devices improve almost weekly and there is no way any game designer can anticipate or keep up with that rapid change in technology. Cut them some slack on the item limit. Like everything else in our rapidly declining society, inflation is rampant and you HAVE to eliminate unnecessary stuff.

Their business model is not a mystery to us.

Their business model is irrelevant to what we are discussing. It's not impossible to designate different limits for different devices. Just like the splash screen is adapted to all the different screen resolutions, the item limit could be adapted to multiple operating systems.

They could make the game more pleasing to those with newer devices, while still maintaining a functional game for older devices.

They just choose not to, like so many other things they choose not to do. How much revenue are they missing out on because of churn? They could be making more improvements to retain those customers. Honestly they should be using feedback from this site to keep as many customers happy as possible.

But anyone who's dealt with EA knows that customer satisfaction is not their priority.

Haha! What a load of total nonsense! 😂😂

It’s cool though - not my first rodeo…. After playing for over 10+ years I’ve been here many time before. As always I’ll store new stuff and design later when the limit is inevitably increased. As I said, I’m hoping they have the foresight to do this with this update, but if not I’ll mark time til they do

  • Controversial position: I think the item limit is actually too high. High item limits will just allow people to place a ton of JEBs and other items just to drive up their XP and collect a lot of donuts. Small item limits avoid that and require careful design.

And what is it that makes you feel you get to say how others play and design, and whether they can go for a high multiplier. Many people play to get every item offered, some strive for huge multipler, some go for exquisite designs. None are wrong in my opinion, you are entitled to yours, I just don't agree with it.

  • What is the current item limit?
  • Maybe after reaching the max level, you could spend donuts to increase your item limit, maybe 1 donut item per item increase. So increasing by 1000 items would cost 1000 donuts. Then the item limit won’t affect newer players and only people who really needed to increase it, mostly the ones with no issues with donut quantity, could increase it to wherever they need it. EA could put a warning that it could impact game play depending on your device. Then you could lower the limit at no cost if it does become a problem. No way this would ever happen but never know.
