Why buy donuts?

I held off buying donuts but when Android got Origin the other day, I bought some. Actually now regret falling into EA's evil trap because at every turn this game gets more bug ridden and annoying. Seriously dont do it. Cant explain why I still bother with this trash, I guess its only the effort I put in keepingme going.

I'm honestly one of the few lucky ones who dont get affected buy any of these bugs or glitches, so this wouldnt be an issue for me

I equate this game to drugs. $20 for a fix is nothing, especially when you can reap the benefits for much longer than a day or two.

Justification is simple. Compare it to other stuff you spend money on to occupy your time. For how much time this little game consumes, spending a few bucks isn't bad.

That being said, a few bucks will only get you a small handful of things. Items on this game are ridiculously priced. This is not a matter of opinion when compared to various other game markets.

It costs money to invest in and create a game like this, not to mention licensing costs. If you had a Playstation, Wii or XBox, you would be paying around $50 per game anyway. What makes this any different when you can play it anytime, anywhere. And support for the game means EA will continue investing in future updates and even more buildings and characters.

I really want to get the limited time items for the whacking day event (because its my favorite update) but i can't justify paying real money for donuts.

What was your justification to spend real money on a game?
I justified it a few ways, I usually buy one or two ps3 games a month, so I cut back on that, and spend money on donuts whenever an update comes out. And, before my semester of grad school started in January, I was going out a lot to pubs and bars and spending money there, now with school in session and tapped out, I only go out about once or twice a week, saved a lot money, and bought more donuts. There's definitely way better things I could and should spend my money on, but my disposable income is pretty decent, as I'm not married and no kids, so I figure why not spend a small part of it on something I love playing and spending time on. Easy justification there. But, if I was on a budget or making less money, no way could I bring myself to pay EA's ridiculous donut prices. Characters and buildings should not cost anywhere near 8-10$ a piece as some have.

Why? This game gives you a natural endorphin rush. A new building can excite you for days, especially when you wait 24-36 hours for it to build. Paying for buildings can have the same effect. You'll get a little tingle each time you see your premium building for much longer than $10 of alcohol will last you. The biggest reason to abstain from donut-purchases, aside from being unable to afford then, is a moral objection of supporting a company that creates this atmosphere and takes advantage of it for profit.

You could always pay someone to give you all the premium items? Beats having to pay hundreds of dollars

    :D I agree with above.
I've been playing for almost a year (I think) and in the beginning I never really brought any donuts, I couldn't justify doing it, then something clicked and I started buying donuts. Limited items first then slowly gained all the regular premium items.

My brother pays $100 on an XBOX game and gets bored with it after he has passed it, yet on this game, it's always changing and I've never really had any true problems with glitches or anything. Not like some on here. The only real thing that messed me up was the Herp glitch but even that fixed after some time.

Besides I find the best time to buy iTunes cards are when they're offering 20% off or something along those lines.

I can play the game anywhere I want anytime I want so it has therefore, fulfilled it's purpose in keeping me entertained so I support EA (even with their glitches) and buy donuts. This event is awesome so far, so many new items! A few hours after I unlocked the event I went to get more iTunes money so I could buy their limited items (especially the items with characters attached).

I was exactly like you I refuse to spend money on apps really.
But than I won FRINK'S lab with the homer Buddha I got from collecting donuts.
Than I was addicted I got a 15 card. And bought Otto 2 weeks ago

    Than got another card yesterday....

The way I look at it as long as you aren't spending massive amount of money on this game like some people in this forum. You are basically just paying for fun. You go to the movies you spend atleast 20 bucks. But in this game you spend 20 bucks and the fun lasts until you are done playing.

This my reasoning but I'm deffly not planning of spending anymore money on this game for a long time.

If you do buy donuts, please, whatever you do don't spend them on Mystery Boxes or Homer Buddhas! You'll only regret it and end up with $250 or a bunch of white fences and benches.

I get the argument about investing real money in relation to the amount of time you play it; but my counter argument is do you NEED to spend the cash? You can still play for just as long without spending da monies. And will spending da monies reward you in the same way that a console game would? At the end of the day premium stuff is largely aesthetic - it won't change the game; you'll just have a nice building or character to look at. Unless you were planning on buying the Elite Whacking Pass or something that gives you a massive XP boost.

It's your money though dude. If you think that Scorpio's Volcano lair is worth a few bucks or whatever, then go for it. Just have fun!

I'm a completist. Trust me, it is not easy parting with the money. I usually only get premiums if they are limited time and usually just before the end of the time window. Case in point: Ninja Homer I am eyeballing for a week or two from now, Lugash's during the last week of the event or whenever Lisa and the beam unlock, whichever comes first. Swanky Fish I waited until yesterday to grab since that was as fine as I could cut it.

The rest? Eh. As I can. I admit I get a gold scratcher once a week though.

That being said, Dead space three or BioShock didn't cost me almost $200! With my points from Gamestop I wound up spending $15 on Bioshock

I bought enough for a few Buddhas. Using the exploit, no need to buy more.

Time consuming yes, but better than paying the rob dogs that are ea.
