Another theory is that Dana got a job as a programmer at EA.

The only times I have ever had snakes "escape" were in towns which I had already begun snake-hunting before the 24-hour wait time had expired. After I made sure to collect cash from 3 houses, and never revisit a town until the timer expires, have not had an escaped snake since.

after losing 200+ snakes today over about 70 neighbor visits I noticed the following pattern:

Towns where you lose big numbers of snakes all had big amounts of snake eggs and all had big numbers laid on the roads.

Not losing any now. In some towns I visit, I do lose a bunch right away, but that many more are slithering around in the same town. They just have to be recollected.

Here's why I don't agree with lissarv68's theory that it's not broken. I have two friends that also play. Neither had started paying the Whacking Day content. The first time I visited one of them, I lost 20 snakes. He hadn't sent Lisa to me. So the idea that it's tied to Lisa doesn't fly. There is a bug in the visit to friend's. Occam's Razor is right again. Simplest answer is usually the right one.
You lose 20 snakes in your friends town if someone sent Lisa TO THEM. 20 snakes means 4 people are currently sending Lisa there. My guess is if you visit your friend 5 hours later it won't be 20 snakes anymore. I initially thought it wasn't Lisa but it is for a different reason. Lisa's task is the simplest answer. But it's not the only issue
I've tried to include most of the definitive things discussed in this thread and my own. Look here for more info

I lost 25 snakes in my wife's town on 2 occasions 3 minutes apart yesterday. She only has 5 friends, so this theory seems impossible to me.

Yeh I outlined the pros and cons of Lisa's task in my post. We had a person test this with their two accounts. When they visited their second town from their first town, initially they did not lose any snakes. They then sent Lisa to the town, visited as a neighbor, and found that they lost 5 snakes on entry. So the second town lost 5 snakes when the first town sent Lisa there, and the first town lost 5 snakes when it visited the second town. They did this again in the reverse order the next day with the same results. So theres definately something there.
I personally lost 85 snakes yesterday visiting one person, was only able to get 35 back. Visited the same person again today, only lost 10 snakes.
It's hard to know what's happening with so many weird things going on.

You should avoid sending Lisa to your friends to avoid further possible snake loss. She might not be the only thing causing it, but if not sending her means reducing snake loss even a little, it's better than nothing.

Well, my method works for me and several others. If it doesn't work for you? Then the odds are that there is something else going on. We've already determined that there are multiple issues at work here.

I visited all 70 of my friends yesterday, I came out of it with an average of 4 snakes per town gain. It took several hours because of the lost snakes and having to find them again. For the most part, there is no consistency in what towns lose snakes.

I doubt I will continue to do that. It is far too time consuming.

Anyways, I'm pretty much said everything that can be said and that I want to say about this so I'm bowing out of the discussions.

Hope you guys get it worked out in your own towns and figure out what is happening and how to work around it.

This is so F-ing annoying. I had 400 snakes therefore got my whacking licence, so off I go to my neighbours to whack some snakes. By the time I had visited about 50 neighbours I had 278 snakes. I went back to my Springfield, whacked all the snakes I could find and ended up with 405 snakes. Therefore all the time I spent whacking snakes in my neighbours' towns only netted me 5 snakes. What an absolute f-ing waste of time. I am really peed off with this.

After A LOT of reading about people recovering snakes after they had gone missing, I decided to try again, with many prayers I didn't lose another 70 at once. This time I was able to visit everyone on my list, around 70ish, and the most I lost upon entering was 5, which I was able to recover and still get my 5 using my license. It definately takes some time, but between eggs and snakes, I was able to collect around 300, so that helps!!

The upshot is, that stupidly, your own snakes are released in a town when you go into that town. You then have to whack them to get them back. Even more stupidly, you cannot get them all back because some will be collected as eggs

Every friends town you go into, you will lose snakes

Apologies to my friends, but it seems the best thing is to avoid your friends towns until this event is over.

I don't totally buy the Lisa theory. Lisa's task is for 3 snakes, not 5. I always have multiple of 5 taken from me. Anywhere between 5 and 30. And randomly as well. Most of the time I still come out ahead but it is quite annoying when those snakes that were taken turn into eggs.

Not true. I went into about 30 towns and 5 of them caused a loss of snakes.

I think it's pretty obvious what is happening. First off, don't visit another town until you at least have the Expert license.

And yeah, if you forget to check your snake count pay attention to how many snakes you're whacking. If its more than 5 you know the city released snakes. And I think Lisa has Somthing to do with it.

Like I've been saying, not a glitch...just a mechanic we don't quite understand.

If you ask me, the length of this thread reflects EA's incompetence. Why isn't this information shared in the first place? This is their website after all. It would take an EA employee a minute to post a sticky explaining updates.

Thank gawd EA doesn't publish books. Some pages would be left blank, leaving it up to you to fill the gaps.

    Peace.

Today was my first day experiencing the mind numbing rage of going through friends towns to wack five snakes, get three buildings and drop eggs, only to watch my snake total drop, sometimes while in the middle of clicking with only the hissing-rattle to tell you of the theft.

I broke even roughly, but in a game where every snake counts and you really are trying to help, to see it happen repeatedly is heartbreaking and frankly, makes you want to just stay in your town and not leave until the event is over. I just hope whomever took the snakes is happy with themselves and really did need them. Otherwise, bad karma, ya know?

For what it's worth, I visited all my friends' towns this morning and ended up about 60 snakes ahead. That's also with only catching 1-3 snakes in some of the farming towns.

    Hi all,

I've been trying a few things with this issue and it does seem that you lose snakes in a town where you've sent Lisa. The good news is that if you have the licence to whack snakes, you can whack all of the snakes in the town that you're visiting and get all the loose ones back. The only down side of this is, as others have mentioned, you sometimes get eggs instead of snakes.

I've visited quite a few friends towns and whacked the hell out of every snake I find there and, overall, I'm actually up on my snake count.
